Last few weeks, as we all know what was happening, and hive twitter became more active i was interested in the Onboarding numbers. Today i had some time to do some caveman queries so here are some stats about onboarding and activity.
The period is a bit weird as it would be better to do it at the end of the month, but :) so the period for this stats is from 01.01.2021 to 22.01.2021
The first thing i thought is that the numbers are not that big. Overall 5034 accounts were registered.
I hoped and thought it will be more, but then i looked on last few months. Whole December 2020 there were 4707 accounts created, November 3046 and October 3926. So even the numbers are not that big there is a chance to double the numbers of October and November in this last 8 days.
Lets get into the stats of accounts that were used to onboard most users and were they active on the social part of the chain:
Splinterlands made 449 accounts, and of that number 19 of them voted on posts and 20 commented. This stats does not do justice to Splinterlands as they are onboarding people to play a game, and i don't know how to query JSON's.
Tipu account created 1481 new accounts, and of that 345 voted and 317 commented. So around 22% of registered accounts at least tried some of the social network frontends.
Leofinance account created 257 accounts, 83 of them voted and 97 commented. around 35% tried to interact. That is the highest percentage and it will be interesting to see what will be the retention rate after few months.
Esteemapp created 1305 accounts of that number 201 voted and 496 commented. Interesting for me here is that there is that much difference in voting and commenting. 38% of new accounts commented at least once in that period and "only" 15% voted.
Threespeak created 925 accounts of those 42 voted and 97 commented. Here we also see that a lot more people commented 10.5% than voted 4.5%. Here would be also interesting to see did those accounts also used some other frontends or only the video platform, but i am not sure how would i check for that.
Overall 5034 accounts were created and 13% used the vote button and 21.5% commented. We can see that there was more engagement in comments. Is that the effect of "Free speech" campaign so new people still don't know about the tokenomics of hive?
Are you happy with the numbers? I know, it is a stupid question, all of us would like thousands of new accounts on a daily bases. But doubling the amount of last few months is not bad.

The problem is we're getting a lot of spam and cam at Leofinance. Marky had a list of 30 - 40 users and you can see it on the platform, trying all kinds of tricks. I guess it comes with the territory, inevitable.
Even so, I guess we're on the right track.

Spam will always be a problem when you have more people. unfortunately that will in the end result with less rewards for new accounts.
That is very true and the latest events prove how we lose confidence in new users and they lose out support.
Introduction posts have been among the most rewarded and abused ones.
