What 10 $LEO a day looks like in Ukraine.

At the time of compiling this post, $leo was last traded at $0.485 according to Leodex.
Although all my Leo is getting staked, I wanted to see what 10 leo would do for me in a day.

Ukraine is, still, one of the cheaper countries to live in without compromising comfort or quality of life. It is well above par when it comes to cost-to-quality standards. As Ukraine's international ties get stronger and more business opportunities grow, the lifestyle here keeps getting better...along with the living cost.

Still, it is relatively cheaper than countries that would provide equal living standards. Or so I believe. Then again, in which country could you a buy a European styled apartment for 1 bitcoin? Even 0.85btc if you want to get more specific. And yes, the payment is made in btc.

At the moment, 10 $leo at a rate of $0.485/leo would give me $4.85, ignoring all the transaction and transfer fees.

In the current USD/UAH conversion rate I would receive 135.8 UAH.

We are assuming we are selling USD at the public exchange rate of UAH28.00 per USD.

Obviously the NBU rate would be better, but they wouldn't transact such tiny amounts.

A typical day would include transportation, usually by car or cab, snacks, impulsive purchases and dinner.

With a daily budget of only 135 UAH, it is not the end of the world, but a little limiting and very uncomfortable. Getting out of the comfort zone is always a little annoying.

To get to where I am going, I will have to take a long detour compared to the straight route it would need by road.

I will have to take the metro, switch 2 intersections and then reach my destination by bus.

I love how in the past year Ukraine has digitalized almost all public payment features. It is slightly more convient having an English language option on the machines.

I will have to feed my card with a top-up of UAH 8 to use the metro services. We now have UAH 127.8 remaining.

After a rather solemn ride in the metro with extraordinary music bumping in my ears, thanks to my excellent playlist, it is time to take the trolleybus to my destination.

The reality of inflation hits you when you take the trolleybus. 7 years back when I first stepped into one, I paid UAH 0.50, today the price stands at UAH 6 per ride. It is still the cheapest form of public transportation.

Pay by cash or the new all-in-one "Eticket", take a trolley-bus stub or don't, just enjoy the ride.

Cool announcements in every stop and a very clean bus to get you to where you have to be.

6 hryvnias down and with a heavy work load, we stand with UAH 121.8

Not bad, at all. Were I to take a cab or the car, we would be sitting with about 25-30 hryvnias.

Over at work, excluding the free snacks and refreshments, I bought a "olivie" salad and fresh orange juice, that takes away 40 UAH leaving us with a massive balance of 81.8 UAH.

Don't ask me for pictures, because I didn't think of it at that moment.

On the way back home we will be taking a different route for convenience.

According to google maps, it will save me a whopping 15 minutes, and cost me a measly extra 4 UAH.

This bus ride costs UAH 10 compared to the UAH 6 on the trolley-bus.

Taking our total to UAH 71.
We still have enough for impulse purchases and a small dinner.

On the way back after the bus ride, I stumbled across this tiny kiosk that was selling authentic Vietnamese products.

In general, the common 2 minute noodles cost at the most UAH 7ish. These imported Vietnamese ones were almost double, standing at UAH 15 per packet.

Considering how mind-blowingly delicious they are, it is totally worth the buy. I bought 2 of these and a drink that rounds up the balance to UAH 14.80

Another 8 hryvnias will be spent on the metro. Bringing our grand final to a UAH 6.80.

Not bad, at all! For just 10 $leo, I was able to commute to work, and get some food for the day!

What a sensational example of what is possible with LEO.

We are in the early stages yet the token price already can make a difference in someone's daily life. This is a story that is being told in many nations like Venezuela and Nigeria. But to see it moving up the scale to the Ukraine is sensational.

Over the next few months, we will see where the token price goes. But what if, by April, your LEO was double what it is today. What does that do with 10 LEO per day to your ability to buy things?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I believe what we see now is just the tip of the iceberg for what is to come.
Given, most of to come is still undiscovered. Amazing potential with the microblogging platform and mining tokens. Endless possibilities.

The blockchain itself has shown it has the ability to solve some of the dire situations around the world, while contributing to the demands on an international level. Amazing creators from Venezuela and Nigeria, satiating our hunger for art to sports related digests.

I couldn't be happier if it doubles by April. My tiny stake will still have relevance and contribute to those who need the liquid to survive.
Imagine how valuable your votes will be, taskmaster, not on a monetary level, but on a humanity level.

It's really awesome you think like that.

Damn a Ramen soup here is a quarter.. not sure about the Vietnamese ones I don't buy those on account of how spicy they are..

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'd say it should have been cheaper considering the demand of it over there. Here, the highest you pay for regular ramen is a quarter. Something fancier would be more expensive since they have to cope the prices up with the low demand.
The Vietnamese ones are relatively more expensive, since they are imported on individual and not industrial sizes.

You should try the non spicy ones. The flavors are extraordinary!

I thought they were all spicy. I'll try one

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There are beef and mushroom flavored ones that I tried. They arent spicy. I think you'll like em

Not mentioning the rent, I think one can also survive on 10 LEO a day here for food and transpo.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is!
I noticed your location said UAE, and I can confirm it 10 $leo at current price may help with daily expenditure, but not cover it. At least not yet. Rent....oooof

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Nahhh, rent is at BTC level. Bullish even in pandemic. 😁😂

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

There is one thing that forever remains bullish - rent in the emirates.
Had I known there were hivers in UAE I would have loved to meet everyone.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It was very interesting to read such an interactive diary.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It's surely interesting to put in direct perspective how crypto relates to soy expenditures.

This is low-key amazing

Glad you made the time to stop by, then :)

cool post! I hope that we can all live from out earnings here one day :)

I am more than sure there are people doing it..at least to some extent.
I remember back in the day it was a huge discussion among many members if they could survive on rewards only.

I have evolved to think that surviving on rewards isn't possible...kinda

1, it is impossible to expect consistent rewards on behalf of content creation.
2, having this constant selling on the market will influence a downward shft on the price (unless we have a leo based "pure" economic system)
3, It is only possible if you play the long game and incorporate stake based CR and whatever author rewards are received

This is the post of the day for me! Just brilliant how you structured and showcased the meaning of 10 Leo in your country. Keep up the good work!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you! That really makes it worth sharing the post.
It would be nice to see others team up and show how much 10 leo does in their place, dont you think?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It would, indeed. There have been posts about what can you do with you Leo earnings, I personally had one recently. Some can pay rent for a whole year with two months Leo earnings, other can do less :)

I'm thinking about your version, maybe I'm going to do it :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

No, that is another one. I went searching and could hardly find it but here it is.

you can find links to other posts, trust me, it's interesting :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well fuck me, that's cheap as hell. Nigeria is wayy more expensive and is still a very horrible place.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

yeah fuck you belemo. There is no way Nigeria is more expensive and still shitier?!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Fuck me once again 😆😆😆😆

That is so cool, I think I'm not able to do something like that here, everything is expensive hahaha.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

How long do you think the 10 $leo would stick around? I budgeted and spent the entire day...
then again Ukraine is so much cheaper than elsewhere.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wait what? I can't believe you did all that with just 10$leo.
Imagine if it was more than just 10.
That means Ukraine is cheaper than I thought or imagined it :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Oh yes. Ukraine is really cheap. Well, except Kyiv and Odessa. It is astounding to almost everyone. No wonder I came back to live here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

wow! just wow I must say. Well, enjoy it while it's cheap :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very interesting!
What you can do at 10 LEO when the price is $0.485. What else can you do when the price increases? Then 10 LEO worth way more than that. Maybe you can show the weekly routine and what you do with 10 LEO.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That would be a really interesting series. I think many more people would join to show thir lifestyle too

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Fantastic post, not just proving how our earnings could potentially sustain us but also showing us the cost of living in Ukraine. And mind glowingly delicious noodles. Wonder I can find them here? Add water?

according to your profile info you live everywhere. That should make it easy to find them haha
Yeah just add water and slop it up.

Ukraine is relatively cheaper than most countries. It is a deal breaker considering the lifestyle pretty on par with many expensive places.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thanks for sharing

This is really a great post. Showing that Leo actually helps you to get fed and pays for public transportation. Probably it wouldn't be enough to pay the rent yet but maybe with the hive that you earn along with leo you could put this aside for the rent :-).

It depends on the rent, too. Maybe there is a place where it could help pick up the rent.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's great to know that Leo and Hive can make such a difference!

It will be good to remember this post in a couple of months or so and see what could you do again with 10 LEO. It would be interesting to see those changes (hopefully to better!)
