I finally did it!

I have been talking about this day for quite some time. Promising that I was going to finally follow through and purchase some silver to stack... Well, this past week I actually did it and I wanted to share with you what I picked up.

My original intent had been to buy some of the "random" silver bars from APMEX. I thought it would be kind of cool to not know what I was getting and be surprised when I opened the package. Unfortunately, I had to hold off on that purchase and by the time I logged back in, it was no longer available. They seem to rotate through stuff pretty regularly on this site, so if you want something you need to be quick on the draw.

One of the main reasons I went with APMEX is because it was fairly simple to make a purchase with BTC. I have been casually mining some Bitcoin on a couple of machines at home over the past year and I wanted to take advantage of that "free" money and move it into a different kind of investment.

Another cool thing about APMEX is there was a Honey code, so I was able to save 10% off my first purchase.

I ended up spending just under $200 USD and picked up six 1 oz. silver "bars". My wife was a little skeptical about the investment, but when I told her it came from crypto money and not our checkbook she was more accepting of it.

For my first purchase I didn't want to go crazy on some of the themed pieces. I know you pay a higher price for the artwork sometimes and I just wanted to keep things fairly simple. Plus, I am kind of not a fan of the colored silver items that they have out there. I think it takes away from the beauty of the pure silver. That is just me though...

This is the other side of the piece that you see in the intro. I actually picked up two of these. One came in a nice plastic case and the other one is just floating around in a plastic bag. I apologize that some of the photos are blurry. It was late when I got home and I didn't feel like learning the intricacies of macro mode on my new phone at 9 PM.

This one is probably one of my favorites. I wish the back had a little more to it, but the pattern is kind of cool and the buffalo on the front is really awesome. I like how it kind of looks like an old bank note.

If I had to pick another favorite, it would probably be this one. I am sure those of you who are more experienced than me can tell me if "Silver Town" is a major brand or something like that. Personally, I was more interested in the "mascot" of the miner and the donkey/burrow. I just think it is a really cool motif given the medium that it is etched on.

I'll be honest, this American flag one was kind of a throw away. That isn't saying I am not a proud American, but I couldn't find anything that caught my eye, so I settled on this one. I should have probably looked at the rounds and picked something up from there, but I didn't think of it at the time. It is still pretty cool, but not as much a favorite as the previous two.

Finally, I also picked up this 1oz square that was enclosed in a plastic case. I thought the front of it looked really cool and despite my previous statements about colored silver, I think the back is kind of neat too. I like that the back is more of a subtle blue. They just use it to accent the silver instead of covering it all up.

Overall I am pretty excited about my first ever silver purchase. At this point I would be hesitant to say this is going to be a regular occurrence. There are just too many crypto projects happening that I want to invest in that I might not have the free funds for precious metals in the future. That being said, I am really happy that I was able to expand my portfolio a little bit and branch out into some alternative assets. Even if it was only a couple hundred dollars worth.

I will be locking these away in one of our safes as soon as I get home today!

I like them!!! I have been adding silver and gold for a few years (maybe even a few more than that) Never a lot, but, enough to diversify nicely. I have never looked at this one and they look worthy of a peek.

I think it is great to add a few here and there, but, the other projects sound more interesting right now. :)

Congrats!

Yeah, it is hard to know where to put your money with all the great stuff happening. I know this is likely more stable for the foreseeable future, but I am still a little hesitant to go all in I think.

Hells yea stacker 🪙

Thanks!

Oh, yeah!!!

I don't think I will ever go all in, in fact I know I won't. It's fun and it helps diversify oh, but there's always the next best thing coming up that I like to at least be able to indulge myself if I want to. Most people out in the Working World have serious 401K and other assets to fall back on for our geriatric days oh, so all this crypto fun just makes the nest egg more golden! I hope to expand a little bit more and some of the projects that they have. Thanks so much and I hope you have a most wonderful day!

I feel the same way. As of right now my retirement is going to be impacted zero by any of my other investments. I hope that changes one day, but even if it doesn't, I should still be okay.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Absolutely. I agree with that sentiment. Zero impact, but, yes! I wouldn't mind if that changed! :)

Those are real nice pieces, I have only a few coins in my collection, I also keep saying i must get more some day

Thanks, I appreciate it! The process through APMEX was pretty easy.

👍🙂👍

I should probably buy physical silver too but currently my exposure to it is in mining stocks.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I have owned a mining stock for a couple of years now. This is my first actual silver purchase. I have some that was handed down to me, but those were mostly coins.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I added to MUX last week. Holding AG but I got in right by the 52 week high 😕

It depends on your view of silver. If you are comfortable letting go of it, I suggest selling some covered calls after you see a nice pump to collect some premium.

Of the bunch, I like the Silvertowne and The Sunshine Mint pieces.
Otherwise, well done sir.

Thanks. There was a sugar skull piece I had my eye on a couple months ago, but it sold out fast I think.

A nice assortment of Shiny Silver bars.

Keep Stacking for the Big One, or a whole lot of Little Ones.
PD

Haha! Thank you!

Welcome to stacking it can be additive! I like Apmex because you can track your purchases in and see back to them easily since it's all tracked.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes, that was very cool and the ship time was much quicker than I anticipated.

Nice to see you coins. At this time it seems wise to have the physical coins. I think the only way is up - it is just a matter of time.

Yeah, hopefully that is the case for just about everything right now! Going lower isn't much of an option!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Haha - you are correct and it certainly is overdued for silver.

Those are some nice pieces. I like the plain silver too.

!CTP

Nice! I didn't know they have them with such cool prints.

Hello @bozz. Congratulations on your first silver purchase. I can tell, there will be more to come. I especially like the Buffalo.

Thanks for sharing.

I think silver is a good purchase right now. I think it has to go up. Thanks for sharing.

Nice one! I'd love to have a few of those hehe.
But silver is very easy to come by here in Mexico.
Just not so much in bars.
Thanks for sharing!

Nice bars! Congratulations on your first silver purchase, perhaps these are the bottom of the very tall silver stack to come. It's been a year or so since this purchase, maybe the stack is already getting up there!

when I told her it came from crypto money and not our checkbook she was more accepting of it.

Isn't it amazing turning mined/earned crypto into something that has weight in your hand? It's not really real until you can drop it on your toe.

Yeah, I totally agree about using crypto for real world items. I haven't bought more yet, but I keep looking. With prices being down as far as crypto, I am trying to wait for a recovery.

Awesome! Congratulations on your first silver purchase. It's a good step in the right direction. It gets addictive, similar to crypto though! My wife wasn't keen on my purchasing coins over the years but there have been occasions where they have saved us big time. It was great converting them quickly to cash and preserving your wealth.

That is a great testament to what a good investment they can be. I hope I never need to do that but just in case it is nice to know I have them.

APMEX is a busy site and you are correct when you say things move fast there.
Those silver bars are a nice investment, keep on stacking.

Very nice!

You now have precious metal too!

Indeed!

I should probably look at some silver stock too. I haven't really diverged my portfolio much.

I own some stock in a silver mining company. It is down now, but it was doing really well for a while there.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Doesn’t happen to be AG does it? I got in close to year high. Oh well 🤷🏼‍♂️

No, it is FSM Fortuna Silver Mines. I bought some around $1 and sold a bit at $8.

Nice pickups! Welcome to the stacking community! 😎

Thank you! Happy to be here!

Good move @bozz. Of course all the stackers are here to cheer you on and I love it! There is so much cool silver out there including poured silver like the sugar skulls you mentioned. Monarch Precious Metals may have made the ones you saw and they have some other cool designs too. Enjoy the journey dude, see ya around.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thanks! I am going to have to check that out. I feel like I might need to add just a little more to my holdings. I am guessing that is a feeling that never goes away once you get started!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's true and it feels even better when you can use crypto profits to pick up some precious metals.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes, that was a really great feeling!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Nice addition to the stack

Thank you!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I really like that square bar you got!!! Looks like a Geiger. Awesome scores and congrats on starting your stacking journey.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I don't know what a Geiger is! I am going to have to look it up now... :)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Geiger

In case you didn't find them, here you go. Geiger Edelmetalle

Ah, okay yeah those are pretty cool!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That buffalo one be looking sweet!!!!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I thought so too!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

They look incredible, I'll give you that!
Congratulations on the purchase!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Thank you! I tucked them away in the safe last night!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

My wife was a little skeptical about the investment, but when I told her it came from crypto money and not our checkbook she was more accepting of it.

The same situation happens to me when I tell my dear and beloved wife that I have invested money in DeFi or NFT games hahaha.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah, I get that too. Lucky for me they kind of cyclically feed each other so I still haven't had to pull from our "general fund" yet!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Woot, woot!!!
Hurray!!!
I like them, @bozz!
That's a great way to start.
I am behind you all the way.
Stack on, my friend!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Silver is the perfect & steady counterpart/balance to that crazy crypto world!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I will keep that in mind!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Sweet pieces. Especially like the Buffalo bar! Nice pickup

Thank you!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very nice @bozz! I think it's very wise to diversify a little bit into precious metals. We bought some 1oz gold coins during the last bull run and during the civil unrest that was going on here last year it was good to know that those were there and we could grab them and go if we needed too.

That sounds like it was a really good investment. Gold was just a little out of my range right now so I started with silver :)
