KYC Not So Easy

Today I tried to do my KYC with Binance as now I have been informed today is my last day to get verified before access is limited. I have thought about this putting it off for some time as the with drawl limits imposed would never affect me. I am going to check later when I am allowed back in what restrictions are imposed as they could be bluffing. They have been sending warnings for months with nothing really worrying as those restrictions did not affect me in any way but these new ones if imposed do. Only withdrawl's will be allowed and that is it.

This afternoon I went through the first steps which were basic and then I hit a road block uploading photographs. Luckily I had some help but still got the camera access denied message.

The Binance help center was not very helpful as I really did try to get this resolved. I had to wait for my daughter to return to actually get somewhere by changing the browser from Google Chrome to Edge. That did the trick only for the photos to be rejected because of night time and the reflection off the photograph document. The result is after so many log ins trying different things I am not locked out and will try again in the morning.

I honestly hate these sorts of things as technology and me are not friends even when it comes to something simple like this. For some it is a walk in the park yet for me it could be a walk in the forest as after 5 hours I am no further to getting this sorted.

Tomorrow I will try again and hopefully this time I can finally get it done and be verified. Once it is done it is done I suppose and really hate this process even though it is there to help protect everyone. I just wish it could be made simpler for people like myself.

I really struggle with the photography bit of KYC type stuff too. Trying to get a face match usually takes me ages and trying to photograph my passport without reflection is almost impossible.

I dread doing it and like you, it usually takes me hours so you're not alone in your frustration.

Hope it goes a bit smoother for you tomorrow. 😊

happy to know it isn't just me then. Also checked my British passport has expired so have to do that next urgently. Had no idea as travel was not an option lately lol.

Same thing happened to my partner and, since we've already booked a trip away at Christmas, he decided to go to a photographers and pay to get his pic done.

I was not happy! 😂

Everything is online here and no consulate or embassy able to assist so I have two choices. Do it myself or pay extra and have it done for me. Still deciding as it is double the cost. Am I brave enough or stupid enough to complete these forms and attach a digital photo up to standard lol.

If you do it online it will tell you, as you apply, if the photograph is good enough or not. At least I think that is the case.

If it was me I'd at least give it a try or do a bit of research and find out if I'm right about that.

When I've done KYC stuff it's been an instant rejection and I was able to just keep trying until I got it right. I'd just assumed that passports would be the same.

Yes I will be an expert soon at this. have one more to do and will most likely do it at the same time getting my Coti account up and running.

The problem I've always had with KYC is that it excludes so many underprivileged people in the world who don't even have ID. Crypto is supposed to be an open financial system, accessible to anyone, and I definitely think we're heading that way with DEX + cross-chain DEXes in development.

Yeah, KYC can be a pain in the butt for sure. I can't tell you the number of times that I have needed to take and retake a photo of my drivers license over the past few years. A lot of times once I get a good shot I just store it somewhere safe so I can use it again in the future.
