What is the *Real* value of Hive?

Every day we all sit at our keyboards, be they phones or laptops or PCs, and watch the value of Hive and Leo and Cub and ProofofBrain and CineTV and BRO....you get my point....go up and down and wish they would do more going up and less going down. We want the value of our stakes to grow so we can feel smart and validated and maybe even rich to a certain degree. Some more than others, obviously. But really, the true value of Hive is not in the price. Don't get me wrong, I definitely want the price to go higher. Much higher. Like a couple hundred dollars wouldn't hurt my feelings. :-) But in the meantime, the real "value" of this place is so much more.

For one thing, people can earn crypto and money without having any money or crypto to start with. We've all read the success stories of users who have grown their accounts simply by staying engaged and consistent in using the platform. There are very few places in the world this can be done. Especially to the degree it can be done here.

But even more than that, the true "value" offered by Hive (and Leo and other tribes) is the knowledge and experience available to be accessed by young, old, veteran, and newbie alike, and is, in my opinion, worth far more than the actual dollars and cents. The information available here is second to none anywhere in the world of crypto. From whales to devs to financial experts to entrepreneurs, the wealth of knowledge being shared can pay dividends far beyond what's on the screen in front of you. It can be applied to the world around you, no matter which country you are from. Pretty special in my opinion.

From music to photography to poetry and writing, from finance to sports to science and technology, from healthy living and exercise to cooking and drinking, movies and tv, the caliber of people and treasure troves of experience and knowledge they are willing to pass on is absolutely astonishing. It's almost like having a living, breathing wikipedia which doesn't just give you the information on a page, but is actually able to explain it and answer questions as well.

Again, we all want the destination to be abundance and riches. But don't forget that the journey is full of opportunities to enrich not just your pocketbooks, but also your mind and spirit, and the minds and spirits of those around you.

Embrace it. Tap into these people. Find the niches that interest you and become one of these people to somebody else. When you become focused on that, your bags will truly fill like never before.

Oh yeah, and curate, comment, and vote. :-) I can't write an article without including that.... lol

The value is in the people here, that's for sure. The tribes and communities are really a great way to learn about stuff and to meet other people who share common interests with you.

And there are a lot of tribes/communities for the most varied subjects so you are pretty much guaranteed to find one that suits you. I mean, there is a Hive community called Fungi Lovers where people talk about and share pictures of mushrooms. How amazing is that?!

This "place" never ceases to amaze me.

Indeed, the amount of information here is enormous. And it's all here to stay. I mean, if you find a community or an author you like, you can go back and read article after article from them all the way until they first joined. If you have an interest, it's here somewhere. And if it's not, you can start it and people will then find you. Pretty amazing if you think about it.

That's true! I've been thinking about starting a community about Project Management and/or Agile practices since there doesn't seem to be one already. I really think I'll be alone there for quite some time but who knows... maybe one day it catches up heheh

The communities and tribes have really made this a fantastic place to get information like that. I pretty much know I can always find someone here that has more experience than me in any particular subject that I might need help with. Especially Leo when it comes to finance!

I agree. Engaging with this community holds a ton of value. There are so many different people from all over the world with lots of different insights. If you spend any time exploring and commenting, you can find good information about pretty much anything.

Yeah, it has totally changed the landscape of this place!

Yea the community and tribes make it easier for people to get information. But yes there are probably too many people coming here to make money. They tend to cash out whether for financial reasons or because they don't trust the system. There is no reason in their case to reject "free" money. But the current model allows everyone to get rich and maybe those who decide to cash out can only regret their choices.

Time will tell. It's one thing to make a few bucks selling your rewards and engaging. It's quite another to enjoy the engagement and build your stake because it just happens while you're engaging people. I doubt there are too many people here who don't think Hive and Leo are going to go to at least $3-$5 at some point. If and when that happens, having a stake you've built organically over a couple years or more will be worth far more than the typically small amounts most people use on other cryptos they know very little about.

There will certainly be much bigger winners in lots of different places over the next few years, but there will also be lots of monster losers. Hive seems to me a "safe" place to build a stake, especially at these levels. And with the ancillary tokens that keep being developed on top of it, the access to early communities seems well worth the wait. It really only takes one to go from having a few dollars in the game to being able to seriously look at building wealth.

I think the true underlying value of HIVE is not fearing that you may be kicked or booted for opinions that run counter to the current popular belief. In todays cancel culture, this will become more and more needed to still have discussion of ideas.

I totally agree that is a HUGE benefit to being here and will only become more important as we progress (or regress, as it were). The fact that you can actually HAVE discussions and VOICE opinions here without fear of reprisal or banning is definitely an important part of the equation. Hopefully this community can continue to foster that spirit as it continues to grow.

While it's certainly true that money is the initial motivation for pretty much everyone who looks into crypto, that doesn't necessarily mean its the only motivation. It also doesn't have to be why they stay. I've engaged with a lot of different communities on discord and other places over the last four years and this is the only place I've stayed.

You can certainly focus on the negatives of communities and viewpoints and be "right". They're present wherever you go. Nothing is perfect else everyone would be there. On Hive, you can at least choose the people you interact with. You can "vet" their content and their comments and decide for yourself whether they are worth spending your time on.

This post wasn't necessarily aimed at brand new people. More at the people who have decided they want to be here and taken the required actions to do so, but haven't figured out how to fully engage. There is a lot to be learned here, about more than just crypto and money. And while I agree there is good content on the internet, there is no one there to discuss it with. At least no one who you have any clue as to their motivations anyway. If you get all of your information from the internet, you might as well just walk down the street and start talking to strangers about their opinions. At least then you could look them in the eye while you're talking to them.

In the meantime, last I checked, you don't get any crypto for reading internet articles. In fact, just the contrary. Your information is logged into their computers and you'll be fed advertising and "similar content" ad infinitum. Not really my idea of "good content" "good content" "good content"...... Echo chambers aren't very good for learning.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it!
