Did you know that you might potentially have some free money laying around here in the cryptosphere? Well of course there's no such thing as free but these are just airdrops to get you into a new crypto project or something. Or you've probably been receiving drips or other tokens you might not even aware of because you are too comfortable living in your own bubble (I'm speaking for myself actually).
Okay what am I saying here? It's hard to admit that even though I've already been in this community for a while now, there are still a lot of things that I didn't know. And unfortunately I didn't exert any effort to learn. I didn't know a lot of big people here because I didn't care enough to comment on their blogs or even look at the trending page (It must be troll trauma). I blame myself of course and for being inactive here in the past. I was popping in and out just to make a shoutout to my followers that I'm still alive. The whole time during those gaps, I didn't realize that a lot of changes had already been implemented here in our chain.
This post is just for those who are like me, those who are a bit oblivious to what's happening around especially in blockchain tech. If you don't know any of these things yet then you'd be surprised that you might have some free money laying around that you might not be aware of to this day.
Let's say for example BLURT, now what is this BLURT? Would there be any future value to this? I just recently came across BLURT on discord or some other blog post I think. It's another hardforked version of Steemit but was just poorly communicated to the crypto blogging community. I mean should we even care? I can't even manage my blog here on Hive let alone having another blog account to maintain. I'm a Hive maxi I guess (lol).
I just feel like I need to blurt my opinion here once and for all, I think that we should not have hardforked into three separate chains in the first place. Yeah I know, we can't set aside our differences here. Too many big egos and too many people who want to be better than the other. Too many of those who are too good to be ruled by certain groups. What's the difference now anyway, even communities here have their own rules. My crypto utopian dream is that would it be nice if we're just in one big blogging platform with micro communities within? We could have just made one decentralized blogging community successful instead of hardforking into several others. I just think the division is unnecessary especially if we all have common goals here anyway.
Now going back to BLURT, I just found out that I've got an airdrop there too, so if you still don't know then you can check out your own link https://blurtwallet.com/@diabolika/transfers. Imagine my BLURT power was just sitting there the whole time, even more than my current Hive Power minus the delegation of a nice bloke here (Thank you by the way!). I read a blog post that most of the holders have already powered down theirs and have probably already converted it to HIVE (yes you can actually do this via Hive Engine.
Well I certainly don't want to blog on another platform but I feel like not powering down BLURT just yet. So what am I gonna do with my free money here? With my temporary joblessness at the moment, I realized a lot of things. There are no guarantees in this life, and that you can lose anything in an instant including your supposedly stable job and secured finances. So yeah, I don't know what's BLURT token gonna be like in the future or if it's just another one of those coins people are holding with no value, I decided to just make more of it. Make more BLURT tokens by delegating that unused BLURT power to someone else. It's not that much but it's a bit of a passive income too. I guess I got something off these blockchain changes after all.
So what's your take? Have you found some free money laying around somewhere too?
Diablo's not free tho.
I recently decided to look through old wallets / exchange accounts I used in 2017 ... was pleasantly surprised. Unearthed quite a few hundred dollars in odd amounts of crypto I had forgotten I owned.
ps: I doubt Diablo would survive an airdrop :) :)
It's like finding a few washed and dried bills in my jeans pocket lol.
I think blurt has some opportunity and with the low price now there is a lot of upside. It is also a good social platform so even if you really don't feel like blogging on another platform you could powerup your blurt and get the % increase daily from that and curate also.
I've actually delegated my extra Blurt power to some account for curation so I get back something everyday.
Let's see who knows.

Yeah, way too many airdrops and things going on relative to my time and attention. Right now my policy is to dump most of them. But some I've kept just because. A very unexpected airdrop was UniSwap. I kept it and it's worth quite a bit of free money.
TBH, I look at most of the tribe tokens and think most don't have a chance unless they can hype their way through a bootstrapping phase and build their utility/community to a level that can sustain value.
So, unless I kinda like the token, I dump it for one of the tokens I'm trying to stack.
Apart from leo I haven't seen any tribes do much in terms of dev or adding new features
Yep. Makes one wonder why they wanted a token in the first place. Vanity and cargo cults?
Then I'll probably just convert that extra BLURT that I have to hive lol.

I’ve found a bit with those hive engine tokens pitty none of them have a real market to sell them into! If you have any ETH wallets it’s also good to drop it in ETH scan and BSC scan you may also find some airdrops on there maybe you lucky there too I got a few tokens sent to me there

Yeah we still need to convert them into Hive. I actually don't know the purpose of having too many tokens here, it all got me confused lol. It's hard enough to raise the value of Hive.
But yeah free tokens are cool anyways. I think I have ETH wallet now I'll check that!
I did lol and it was a big mistake just total losses and you can’t unwind out of the positions without taking losses so I learned my lesson!
There’s just not a big enough market to support all these tokens let alone HIVE itself, just looking at the order book on exchanges for hive you’ll see how razor thin buy orders are for this token

I really only buy BTC to be honest, I still have a bunch of shitcoins but they pointless dumping I’m hoping for a day when they worth enough to sell lol
A lot of these smaller coins are a roach motel, you can check in but you can’t check out
I guess it's better to experiment with these tokens by just putting in earned Hive for now. It's kinda scary or way too risky to buy HE tokens using your own money. We should have just focused on HIVE imho.
I learned my lesson too. I'll just buy Bitcoin the next dip.

Totally all you really losing is a bit of time which you would have wasted anyway. I think the whole thing behind tokens is to try and encouage activity not sure if it works, I don’t really see people flocking in like the steem days I just think it’s overly complicated
My BTC limit orders have been firing off during these dips and i buy small amounts daily nothing major just what I can afford
Even looking at the BTC order book it’s thin, buy orders are not that big until 24k USD so these other coins have just a few thousand even a few hundred dollar orders keeping the price up
The thing is with these tokens the more you have the less value you can realise, if you go to hive engine and you see the 24 hour volume let’s say it’s $30 then only $30 of sales are excuted at a certain price range so you can only sale an amount in that range without tanking the price
As I learn about all this it exposes how fragile these tokens are, the thing is when they pump there opposite happens and there’s thin sell orders and these tokens fly as people buy up the order book
I mean $100 in any HE token can shoot you the price and market up stupid high and it looks cool but you can’t unroll from that position and will be bled dry
I saw them try to build liquify pools for these tokens but it hasn’t really taken off
Who knows? For now I just don’t consider it as part of my portfolio just a fun thing
We can earn these HE tokens via blogging anyway. And I don't see this activity as wasted time for me. I just don't think I can put in real money for these 2nd layer tokens tho.
With my new job and better wage, I can afford to do this now lol. I'll definitely do the same and make smart choices this time!
For sure, I mean my HE wallet doesn't have that much but all these colorful tokens just look cool and fun to hold lol. Who knows.
