I came across this report and im not particularly surprised by the findings.

As the title of the post and this article suggests AML has under 1% impact. Despite the difficulties in measuring AML's impact it is still disappointing to learn of its effectiveness in % terms.

It could vary from country to country I reckon as in some countries with high cash use vs digital it might be harder to validate data.

Most people who engage in legit activities have to deal with a mountain of paperwork when dealing with the banks or financial institutions. While the real criminals get away with their illicit activities.

Isn't it funny that somehow, some governments still find a way to blame crypto for some of these issues even as majority of the problems have been around forever now.

Even with all the regulatory measures in place there's no slowing down any illegal activities. Especially when it may be conducted by the very people who form these rules such as the corrupt people in the government, large financial institutions etc.

Anyway, I felt the article is worth a read if you have a couple of minutes to spare.
