Ever Considered Gifting Someone a Hive Account?

Direct from the desk of Dane Williams.

Hey team,

On a quiet Saturday morning, I just wanted to share a little Hive success story with you guys.

The Gift of Hive

Every time I go home and visit my parents, I (somewhat) jokingly ask them if they've bought bitcoin yet.

Unfortunately, their answer has always been no... Although in saying that, they are interested enough to check the price in AUD from time to time.

So to take things to the next level, I this year decided to gift my Dad a Hive account for Father's Day.

The @pfwaus account was born.

He's a keen astronomer who can articulate complex topics in a fun and easy to digest manner, so the StemGeeks community seemed like a great fit.

I nabbed some STEM tokens off the market, staked the lot of them and gifted the keys to the account in a card over lunch.

Fast forward a few months down the line and we've just published his second StemGeeks post today:

->> The Great Conjunction of 2020 – A Meeting of the Gas Giants <<-

Pretty cool, huh!

Overall, it's actually been a great gift and far outperformed the usual socks and undies crap that would otherwise end up being given.

Let's see what we can get the account value to via simple daily STEM curation and intermittent posting like that.

I'd highly recommend doing something similar to introduce people crypto and get them involved doing something they're already interested in.

Christmas is just around the corner after all.

:)

Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Moon and Mercury

Bitcoin Intraday Update

Now just to finish up, I wanted to share a quick Bitcoin update using my simple support/resistance trading strategy.

Following on from yesterday's blog where Bitcoin was at 20K resistance, well it seems that we're not going through just yet.

BTC/USD Hourly:
BTC/USD Hourly

Capped by higher time frame resistance at the zone, we eventually got a clean retest of short term support turned resistance.

Certainly an easy 1:3 at least in that setup.

Always the same thing, over and over and ov...

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

Best of probabilities to you,

Dane.

That a really cool idea! How is he enjoying it so far?

Gonna go and say hello to him aswell

He's certainly enjoying it, but we forget how techie Hive and blockchain in general really is for normal people.

I've still gotta help him a bit, but he's certainly starting to see the passive income potential of staking and that his time spent writing is actually worth something here.

Pretty cool!

Definitely stop by and leave a comment. It would be much appreciated :).

Very cool move! I've made hive accounts for friends and family, following accounts I think they may be interested in with a little delegated stake so they can interact.....not had much uptake though :(

Nice niche you found for your dad in STEM, great present! Now it remains to be seen if AUS cricket can put the visitors into orbit (or vice versa) and your dad maybe write another astronomy post about it lol.

I've had the same experience with most of the accounts I've made for people too.

We forget how techie Hive and blockchain stuff really is and if you're not that way inclined, then it's really hard to use.

I've had to help my dad a fair bit to get it up and running, but as he's starting to see the finished product (not to mention the money rolling in), he's wanting to learn more himself.

Adoption from the masses just takes time.

A lot of time haha.

Did you see the controversy around India replacing their 'concussed' batsman with a specialist bowler right at the end of their batting innings?

"It's just not cricket!"

It'll certainly add some spice to the test series though.

Bring on test match cricket already!

I had a look at what happened after you mentioned it and indeed it's 'just not cricket' lol, especially since the substitute went on to put in a match-winning performance. Well, a feisty 4-test series will be interesting :)

Also RIP blue LBI logo :( ..... 'wisdom' of the crowd eh!

I really don’t like the one they went with at all, but the crowd knows best...

It didn’t stop me from buying some tokens though.

Not keen on it either tbh, but I saw a comment by the LBI folk saying they weren't really too bothered what it was as long as they had one.

It didn’t stop me from buying some tokens though.

Ha ha, now that would be to throw a tantrum.

Haha, oh you don't have to worry about that. I've been telling anyone who will listen about LEO for months.

...which unfortunately isn't too many people.

How about this.

One of my mates has decided that buying fucking Pokemon cards, hoping they get graded in good condition and then re-selling on eBay, is a better investment than LEO right now.

Some people are just beyond help ;)

Tell him to post about his pokemen investments here ;)
