Now being the 2nd, I'm not only a day late to the August HIVE Power Up Day party, but I'm also going to put a little bit of a twist on it.
For a few months now, I've been powering down just enough HIVE to keep my account sitting at a steady 34,000 HP. I've worked out that I earn around 90 HIVE per week from author and curation rewards and power down just enough to make that my weekly withdrawal.
However, bear with me here. I'm certainly not powering down to dump my HIVE on an external exchange.
LEO Power Up Day
Each week, I deposit my powered down HIVE into LeoDex and buy LEO at the current market price to power up/stake to my account.
Writing a daily forex analysis blog, I've obviously been bullish on what the team have been building and the much hyped LeoFinance 2020 roadmap has only strengthened my resolve.
I've ridden the early LEO price action and my long term cost averaging strategy has seen me build a hefty LEO stake, managing to hit a major LEO staking milestone today.
LEO 30,000 Staking Milestone
The heading says it all.
With today's 250 LEO staked, I've hit the milestone of 30,000 LEO POWER. Take a look.

While it's not quite what Hive Power Up Day was designed for, I think us LEO bulls will agree that it's worth a Sunday blog while traditional markets are closed.

Well there's nothing Wrong with powering down your curation reward for buying leo it's still inside the system. 30k Leo is really amazing if you ask me, I'm sitting at 2.6k and I'm hoping to grow with time.
Just keep doing whatever it is you're doing to get those massive HIVE author rewards on your blog and you'll be there in no time.

You bring up a very valid point that I just mentioned in my Monthly HP Report that was just posted. The Whales were small gainers while other categories were basically flat (the orcas lost about 1.3%).
My theory is that we are possibly seeing a shift in direction on Hive. Many accounts, especially smaller ones, are finding value in some of the H-E tokens. LEO is a prime example.
Your actions epitomize this behavior. A couple years ago, it is likely the HIVE earned (STEEM at the time) would have all been powered up. Yet, today, you take some and move it into LEO.
This is going to be interesting to watch.

What's your theory behind why the smaller accounts are focusing on HE tokens, while the bigger accounts aren't?
Just purely that small accounts are looking for instant influence, while big accounts don't need to look elsewhere because they already have it on HIVE itself?
I love watching the natural evolution of HIVE and the HIVE ecosystem.
