WHY ON EARTH AM I USING FOUR HIVE ACCOUNTS?

in LeoFinance3 years ago (edited)

It’s becoming more common for people to openly use multiple accounts now, especially with new front ends like Leofinance. But back in Steemian times it was a dark secret, and while it was common practice, they were not often spoken of. There was so much flagging and shady voting going on, that multiple secret accounts were a good tactic.

I had 10 accounts on Steemit, so still do on Hive. Until recently I was really only using this account (@frot), but then I started thinking it could be fun to update a few of my old accounts, and I came up with a cunning plan to use four of my accounts.

image.png

Account 1.

For all my day to day posting, voting, commenting and posting to communities, I’ll continue to use this account. In terms of HP it was always my goal to have 100000 HP in my wallet so that I could upvote my favourite content and hopefully encourage my friends to post more. And now that I have that much in my wallet I’ve started delegating some to leo-voter to build up some more Leo tokens. All my voting from @frot is manual with no regard for returns at all, but it still pulls in around a 12% return from curation rewards anyway.

image.png

Account 2.

My secret squirrel account is @shralve. That account is just for passive investment – no voting, posting, or commenting, only delegating. I’ve been trying out a few different curation options and for a totally passive delegation, my pick is tipu because I like the way they do things and the returns are reasonable (around 10.5%). But I’m mostly delegating to my own accounts, which are obviously supporting my favourite content as well as making a better return.

Account 3.

Back in August 2016 I set up my first Steemit account @sift666 and did a lot with that account. Sometimes I got good post payouts, and sometimes I didn’t, but I actually did pretty well overall, mainly because I got so pissed off with all the bullshit on Steemit that I powered down my Steem and sold it while the price was still good. That and some other good crypto investments are a large part of the reason I’m now in the position of being able to have a decent crack at investing in Hive.

All the time I was posting as @sift666 I had a take no prisoners and suck no dicks attitude. Sometimes that got me flagged, blacklisted, unfollowed, and occasionally hassled by whales. One of the topics I regularly covered was vaccine dangers, and it was fortunate I had a large curator looking out for me or I would have been slaughtered.

Ultimately most of the best content I have ever posted on the blockchain was on my @sift666 account three to four years ago, and I want to share some of it again on Hive. But I can't be arsed with flagging, or claims of plagiarising that might come up if I repost my own content, so I have turned off the rewards on that account and plan to see if I can get back some of my old attitude when the financial aspect of blogging is removed.

The sad truth is that for me, being an investor is an impediment to letting rip on my blog posts. So my @sift66 account is not for snowflakes, and I hope to start doing some uninhibited free expression again, with no desire for post payouts or popularity. More like the old days!

Account 4.

And my latest idea is to set up my own curation account – I had an account called @gimp sitting around in the basement that I set up late 2019 but never used. One of the cool things about having a long account history on Steemit (I even had three accounts way back in 2016) is that I have followed a lot of people, but have never before assembled them all into one follow list, so that was the first step of setting up @gimp.

image.png

On that account I plan to repost the occasional exceptional post, and do a few short posts of my own to make it clear that I’m not just another bot if anyone checks out the account, but mainly to regularly autovote a bunch of good content creators

image.png

Straight away, that meant I was starting out with a list of over 2000 people I’m following. But my old follow lists were from Steemit and go back a long time, so most of those accounts (about 90%) have never posted on Hive. That's OK though, if any of them come back I'll see them come up in my feed. And about 10% of them are active, which leaves over 200 people posting new content, and I'll add more new ones as I go.

So my @gimp feed is already pretty impressive and I’ve started seeing a bunch of content I would have otherwise missed. It’s sort of like having a “latest post” feed, but with good content rather than the utter crap you see on the real Hive latest post feed. I originally intended it to be all about autovoting, but the feed is interesting enough that I’ve started looking through it and following new people from my frot account: https://peakd.com/@gimp/feed

I am setting up autovotes for most of the active accounts. This serves two purposes. Firstly, votes encourage people to post more, and secondly the curation earns me rewards as well. So it grows Hive and it grows my own account. Two birds with one stone. To do that I’m using Hivevote: https://hive.vote

If this works well I’ll gradually increase the delegation to @gimp so that the vote value goes up. And that is my latest Hive Investment and Blogging plan.

I've not been getting through my feed much lately, so I realise I've missed you for a bit.

Just a thought with the sift account, maybe you can do that throwback Thursday thing that some people seem to be doing.

I was wondering why a gimp had started following me recently. I sat there looking at it wondering why it seemed familiar somehow. Not sure why you'd want to follow that minismallholding account, though, it's just full of crap!

Gimps like to lurk...

image.png

Wassup gimp? You making fun of the way I walk?

That isn't really walking you know!

image.png

It's impressive especially since I can barely manage my one account. Recently joined a curation trail and I like how it adds to my activity.

It takes a bit of time to set up your own curation trail, but as an example Curangel pays about 10% while @gimp pays me around 16% (it doesn't show that much at the moment because each time I up the delegation the returns show as lower for 14 days)

Congratulations @frot! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :

Thank you for your unfailing support @frot, really appreciated! 👍

I have also other accounts, like @science.fiction but it turns out it is just a waste of time, so I don´t use it anymore.

It's hard work to set up a new account for the purpose of blogging and to build a new audience - but I'm not planning to try that.

On this account I don't get much attention these days if I just do a post on my own own timeline, so I'm mainly going to post on the Leofinance and Alien Art communities where the engagement is better, and share those posts on my timeline.

Meanwhile my @shralve investment account is all about delegation and is more like a bank account than a blog.

And @sift666 is like my Wordpress Blog - purely for me to have a rant or post some content with no thought of payouts or engagement.

This latest @gimp idea is to see if my own curation trail would work, and to have a much wider idea of what content I am upvoting.

Project Activity Update

Thanks Hivebuzz, go big as a witness!

Thanks for the heads up, lately I have had a hard time finding good stuff, (stuff I like), to vote on. So now when I have extra left over laying around votes I can click you in my favorite curation box list, and find some stuff to vote on hopefully when I need to.

Great - I hoped that might happen. People often say there is no good content to vote for, but it's not true - I'm guessing there are probably more than 500 people posting quality content on Hive, but people tend to only see recent post feeds and think it's all crap because most of those posts are - the trick is to find the best 10%. This feed is already working well and I'll see if I can get it even better.

https://peakd.com/@gimp/feed

image.png

Most of the time I don't have a problem getting all my votes out, but lately there has not been much from those I follow, so I had 3 trails I could follow, but even those were thin at times, and I have a lot of list, but the list function is kind of broken on peakd, so another trail was good for me, I follow a lot on your feed already, but there are some I don't.

Posting seems to be directly linked to price - I think the number of posts will rise when the price of Hive goes up - and I do think it is just about to, following along behind all the new front ends being built on top of Hive.

But in the meantime, I figure more votes (even if they are only 1 cent votes) and more comments will help keep people interested.

image.png

I wonder how do you manage all these accounts!

So do I sometimes!

The main two things I do to keep them organized are a well set up spreadsheet in Libre Office with all the account keys ready to copy and paste as needed, and using multiple browsers, each one set up for a different account.

On this account I'm logged in on Firefox to PeakD along with the other Hive related sites and front ends I use, all logged in to @frot and ready to click on. So that is five logged in and pinned tabs.

Then I do the same for each of my other three accounts on Opera, Brave, and Chrome. A total of five sites in four browsers, so that is 20 pinned tabs per computer.

Here is where it gets scary: I am using two PC's (one Linux and one Windows), and two laptops (again one Linux and one Windows), and an Android tablet. (I do also have an Android phone but I never use that for looking at websites) So that pattern of 20 pinned tabs is repeated on five devices. Yes that is 100 Hive tabs! Holy crap...

And that is not even counting Leofinance - make that 105 tabs (I'm only using Leo on this one account)

image.png

And they say men people can't multitask...

That's crazily impressive

I can't multitask at all which is why I have to have such a good system set up - one brower tab out of line and I lose the plot!

I see. 5 devices sounds pretty exhausting to me though but who knows, you might be an octopus.

Well I only use one at a time :)

image.png

LOL, scary stuff indeed! I use two accounts and just stay logged in on peakD (barge) and LeoFinance (krunkypuram), switching between them.

I remember your sift666 posts (and rants and interactions :) well and liked what was expressed and how. Speaking of vaccines, there may be fewer folk opposing their opposition nowadays....... :)

I feel a post about browswers coming on! - boring geek stuff, and maybe a post about Microsoft as well while I'm doing geek stuff - Melinda the tranny, and the replacement of both Bill and Melinda in 2013 is an interesting story!

image.png

Ha ha, maybe it's all those adrenochrome 'parties' keeping them looking young! I've read of body doubles and replacements but only references, no stories. The Gates illusion of them being well-meaning philanthropists (lmao) is cracking - such a post may not be as 'far out' as it might've been before the covid-drama started!

I am only using 2 accounts for now. Not planning to add another as I am not that active in the platform anymore.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I'm not really recommending more - four is actually less for me, I've had a clear out and let go of attachment to six others!

But if there is a good reason, then having more than one account can be handy - right now I'm getting set up for the boom I think is about to come - fingers crossed!

image.png

Usually we separate the users based on communities and their purpose. For example if you are into finance and photography I would differentiate the content by having two different accounts. This way the content of an author is specific to a domain and not having a salad of everything. And you can curate each community separately on top of that.

I think four active accounts is enough to keep me busy for now :)

This Comment Could Not be Published from Peakd Yesterday. I hope it loads here from Hive.blog.

Ha...!!! I remember first finding you at @sift666 then wondered, "who the fuck is this @frot dude"!?!?!? (When I was new on steemit)

As much as I enjoy your artistic talent, I did miss your excellent, unabashed ramblings as sift666. I've re-followed you there...so, I might get a lot of fall-out in the future from the "inluencers" as a result? It wouldn't be the first time for me, here on this blockchain.

By the way... I re-hived this post to give it more exposure and perhaps point some new people to something a bit more interesting than multiple photos of a lettuce salad, or those dreaded multiple daily posts about some cork-head's fake busy, busy lifestyle at a job or business (usually both) filled with self-glorification... Yet... They do seem to get an 'awful' lot of up-votes from their club…??? (Triple emphasis on awful - did you notice?)😎

Anyway...I guess this comment has stretched beyond the norm because I've been holding my tongue lately and not writing much. We're on the verge of potential, great civil unrest, here in the U.S. (as you know) Idle banter about NWO shit, is worthless at this point. (In my opinion)
image.png

I'm not sure there are many flat earthers, trannies, vegans, libtards, or communists left on Hive, but there are some vaxxers! I used to have this "Fuck people are morons so I'm going to call them out" attitude as sift666, but I've mellowed - now I think "fuck people are morons but I am just like Eckhart Tolle" - so I'm not sure if I could do it now, but I'll repost some of the old stuff!

image.png

Well... People tell me I'VE mellowed as well😎 but, I think that it was my association with some members that caused those negative whispers and avoidance by 'certain' others.

You know... Those fake "goody-two-shoe" type who posture themselves as loving and caring.

Something about your username makes you sound angry and anti-social...

image.png

Yeah @frot, you must mean the 'man' part...???💪

image.png

If having a penis is sexism... why do so many female SJW type wish they could afford vaginal reconstructive surgery???

Thank you for the post. It cleared some of my ideas about steemit that I had in my mind. I never had in consideration to have more than 1 account, because for me is difficult to find a time for handle all my internet activity. All the login data that I need to remember, all emails to check, etc, I have only this account, and I am using it from time to time to watch what the people posting and to post my art. I am here , not for earning( but if can earn , because people like my art , I am happy), but because of the community. I think that your strategy about multiple accounts is useful, I learned something new from you today! Thank you for following me too. I promise to find more time to be here, (In the past I was addicted, I confess), that I like, because it is full of creativity and this boosts my inspiration, that is the main tool that I need to create! Thank you again!.

Thank you very much! I am doing kiwi bird series. For minting. Soon they will be ready to be sold on friends platform.I decided to help him in his projects, so this is like donation. We will start a kiwi bird contest, so you will see more kiwis soon. I hope:)In the future posts I will share more art. And some links. Your opinion means too much for me!

Even in NZ Kiwi's are rare - I have seen some but only at the zoo
