Are you new to Splinterlands and searching for some advice, then you found the correct series! In this Beginner’s Guide Series, we are discussing things that new players of Splinterlands should know or try to learn. In this specific episode we will talk about the recent Season Rewards. We were able to get into Gold 1 yet again and were able to get around 36 chests. On top of that we were able to make some purchases in regards to new cards which I want to present as well. Last but not least I want to talk about the recent suggestion making the leagues dependent on the amount of SPS staked rather than the Collection value. With that being said, if this article motivated you to start playing this amazing game, then feel free to join the fun over the following link:

Season Rewards

Let’s get things started with the fun part of every season! The seasonal rewards. In recent times we are able to finish constantly in Gold 1. I think Rating wise, we would be able to finish at least in the Diamond Leagues but Collection Power wise were are limited to the Gold Divisions. But maybe this is for the best as our deck is only competitive in the Earth Splinter. All the other Splinters have unfortunately summoners that are up to level 3 which could be a little low for Diamond.

Anyways, we were able to get some sweet rewards this time around. Not only were we able to get a total of 12 reward cards which is pretty awesome, but we were also lucky enough to receive 3 Chaos Legion Packs! And while the most clever thing would be to hold on to them because they are about to run out, I just enjoy opening these packs too much for me not to tear them up. With that being said, we will take a look at our pulls in the next chapter.

Before that I wanted to recapture that I see a progress in battle understanding. In many cases we are able to chose the correct team for the given scenario. And yes while our win-rate is only slightly over 50%, I think we can be pretty proud of what we are achieving currently. Clearly our favorite team is always either Earth or Dragons since this is where our major summoner know-how is established. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the games with Water, Life and Death. A Splinter that I want to develop further and get to a higher level is Fire. For this to happen we definitely need some miracle as we need around 26 Tarsas to bring the summoner to level 5. This could be one of the distant future goals.

Latest Purchases & Pack Pulls

For now we are focusing a little bit more on the actual monsters that we were able to purchase recently. While I would have been able to buy around 10 Tarsas I decided to diversify my deck a little bit more by adding a few more cards. As you all know, we recently got the Riftwatchers expansion. This is also the expansion I am lacking the most cards of. This is why I decided to invest some DEC into Tinderlock as well as Mordeus. Both cards are exceptional in their own way.

While Tinderlock is a very nice card for high mana battles with the Last Stand Ability and the Close Range Ability, Mordeus is a crazy legendary card which has 5 attack and the additional Opportunity Ability. I think all in all these cards will give me more variability and more motivation to try out new strategies.

But these cards were not the only new cards that I received. Aremis the Bear was another choice to get. I was missing a Protect Abiltiy in the Fire Deck which is why a neutral card must have taken this place now. With Arkemis we have yet another high mana card, but is definitely worth its mana cost of 12. With 3 attack and 10 health, this card is actually a very nice card to have.

Furthermore, we were also able to pull two Epic cards out of our packs! To get two epics out of three packs is not the worst thing. Nevertheless, the actual pack values were below the actual pack which just shows that buying packs should not be your first method of choice to receive new cards. With that being said, we were able to pull a Djinn Inferni which is actually pretty sick. For 7 mana we are getting a 3 mana attacker with 3 speed but only 4 health. A little bit worse but still very useful is the Acid Shooter which only costs 2 mana but also has 3 speed and 3 health with only one ranged attack.

SPS instead of Collection Power

Last but not least, we need to talk about the idea of taking the staked SPS instead of the Collection Power in order to get into higher divisions. This means that the more SPS you have staked the higher division you are eligible to battle in. On the one hand, this might be a good idea. This would definitely bump up the price of SPS and would benefit the players that are playing this game as they are getting rewarded in SPS which they can stake. On the other hand I can see a decline in card prices. Especially the weakest cards that were usually only there to give you CP will now be almost worthless. I think it would make almost no difference to be honest. There would be still not too many player in the higher leagues as the amount of staked SPS will probably be horrendously high which means that now you would need to buy more SPS instead of buying cards. Furthermore, this would probably give the rent market its final blow. Without the incentive to get cards for getting CP there will be less people renting off the market.

I think a mix of both stats combined might be a pretty elegant solution for this. I can definitely see SPS being a factor in which division you are playing although it would enrich the richer. I think a combination of both stats would be something a lot of the community would agree on. What are your thoughts on this latest news?

this sounds like a good idea to consider sps stake rather than CP. You never know if team can think about it.
