Splinterlands - Share Your Battle - Regal Peryton Edition

Another week, another cool Share Your battle Opportunity. In this week it is all about the Regal Peryton. This card is probably one of the most used cards in the whole game right now just because of its stats and attacking style. In this article, we will talk about when to use this card the best, what its advantages are and what cards we would use to support this card with. In the end we will take a look at the example battle that we were able to win.

Regal Peryton

Let’s start off with discussing the card to use: Regal Peryton. When I first saw this card, I was absolutely sure that this card can become a beast in the lower leagues. I think I was right, as I am constantly using this card and encounter this card while plying in Silver or Gold divisions. It has the magic attacking style, so when using this card with Obsidian, it will get immediately buffed. On top of that it comes with very nice amount of health and an unusual high speed for a magic attacking card. Overall for 5 mana, this card is an absolute must play, if you decided to play the Earth Splitner.

On top of that, this card has the Flying Ability which makes it very hard to hit in general. The only weak point would be in fact magic attacks themselves. This is why lately I discovered my love for the Dragon Splinter. In combination with the Dragon Summoner Sthispa, this card gets the Phase Ability which allows it to dodge magic attacks. Because this card has an incredible speed and most magic attackers are low speed attackers, it is very hard to even hit this card with magic attacks!

This means that this card can and should be played in almost every circumstance. Whether it is the no-melee ruleset, Earthquake, no legendary cards or the losing ability one. In each and single one of them this card, has the absolute advantage and can be played in either case. The only situation I would not play this card are literally the ones where this card is blocked, such as the no magic ruleset or the reverse speed one. Especially the latter one is a ruleset where I would only play very slow cards as the attacking order matters!

Dragon Companions

As mentioned before, there are many advantages of playing the Dragon Splinter. One of them is certainly the summoner which I described above. Another really important fact is that we are able to use the dragon cards as well. As we all know there are plenty of very cool Dragon cards out there. And the one that I want to point out is the Void Dragon. He is basically the exact copy of the Regal Peryton! It is costing 5 mana as well, has 5 speed and the same amount of attack. The only difference is that it has 7 health instead of 6, but who is counting. This means we are basically having two of the same insane cards on the field.

Additionally to the Flying Ability the Void Dragon also comes with Void. This means that on top of just Dodging the potential magic attacks that are coming our way, we also have the ability to take less damage once its hit. Isn’t this incredible? In my opinion a really tight plan against Magic attacking teams.

On top of that we can play other Dragon based cards, like Chaos Dragon or the Naga Assassin. This card is very similar to the Xenith Archer, just a few points quicker. Because this battle had very tight mana restrictions, this card was a perfect fit to fill the board and get some extra damage in.

Earth GOAT

Last but not least we need to talk about the card who can not be missed anytime we are playing the Earth Splinter! Queen Mycelia is in my eyes an absolute must in every Earth deck and team. Why? For starters it provides every single monster on your side an extra 2 armor. But if this is not enough it also comes with a magic attacking style. If you are playing the Earth summoner Obsidian, it will get bumped up to 2 magic attack which can not be neglected! Granted, the card has not the highest amount of speed but it defiantly compensates it with its ability. On top of that it comes with 4 health and for a cost of just 4 mana, this could be considered very solid in my opinion. Furthermore, we had a very special ruleset in the battle where all magic attacks will hit the armor first, which is also a reason to bring some extra armor to the battle. All in all this card could be considered the GOAT for the earth Splinter.

Example Battle

And now the moment we have all been waiting for! The actual battle. Like mentioned several times before. Our ruleset for this battle were a little bit tight on mana and had the weak magic as well as the no-melee restriction on top. As our opponent had a very Earth-Magic battle history, I figured that he would go for it once again. This is why I chose to counter him with the preciously explained Dragon strategy of Phase and Void. Because we had the upper hand in terms of speed, almost all of his magic attacks were missing the Void Dragon, once it got into the first position. The same would have been the case for the Regal Peryton but fortunately for us, this occasion never happened. Because we were able to defeat his monsters pretty effortlessly I would suggest that our chosen strategy was directly on point, meaning that Phase and high Speed against slow magic attackers is just the perfect anti magic comp!
