It is time to share our battles again! In this week’s challenge we are trying to win a battle with a special legendary card: the Spirit Hoarder. When the card first came out, I was a little skeptical to be honest, but now that I used this card several times, I must say that this card is really making a difference in the magic strategy. In this article we will talk about the potentials that this card has, when I like to use it a break down the cards I like using it with. In the end we will look at the battle that is a perfect blueprint of how to use this legendary card.

Spirit Hoarder

First things first, let’s discuss the Spirit Hoarder. On the face of things, this card can be overseen pretty easily. For 3 mana, you are getting a magic attacker that has only 1 attack, 1 speed and 3 health. These are definitely not the best stats to be a great monster. But I would say that its ability of Triage helps it to find its place in this battle meta. I really like to use this card in combination with the Earth Splinter. Not only gets his attack boosted but Earth has also a great Taunt minion that has also magic attack and can be therefore put in the backline. Why is this important? Well, because our Spirit Hoarder is then able to heal this Taunt card constantly making our opponent waste his attacks there.

I think this card is very well used if a Taunt can be put into the backline and also during several other rulesets like Earthquake, Poison or Blast battles, this card can make a difference by healing up the monsters in the backline. We already established that this card is not the strongest on its own which is why this is a classical support card that will need its fair share of protection. Nevertheless, it will make also an impact on the damage side if used correctly.

Full Blast Of The Magic Power!

Let’s talk about the other cards that the Spirit Hoarder is supposed to support. The first card to mention here is the Taunt card that I was talking about previously: Mycelic Slipspawn! This card has a very good synergy with the Spirit Hoarder because it can be put into the backline and still attack. On top of that it will get the magic attack boost from Obsidian and with 11 health, this card is definitely not a one hit wonder card. With 3 speed, this card is also not the slowest, so it will definitely get some hits in itself.

Another support card that is needed to be mentioned is the Queen of all fungi. She is probably responsible for “The Last of Us” -hype and is a very great monster to play. Queen Mycelia is another magic attacker that has the additional ability of protect. This is very important for all Magic attackers in this team since they are traditionally not very well of with health. Yes she also has only one speed and has an attack of one which can be bumped up to two but in my opinion, this card is an absolute must have for every earth player.

And we continue with our Magic madness! In the end, this attacking style is the most popular and strongest one in the game, in my opinion! This brings me also to a very popular card in general: Regal Peryton. With its high speed and Flying Ability this card is very hard to hit for melee and ranged attackers. On top of that it has 5 health which is very solid for this state of the game and with 2 attack which gets up to 3, it is definitely not the weakest hitter on the squad. All in all, this card is very solid and is being played almost every time I am playing against an earth team.

Last but not least we have another healing card: Goblin Psychic. I think I covered this card already several times and will not stop covering it until there will be a much stronger card out there. This will probably never happen which is why this Goblin will always be in ma Earth teams until he gets removed from the game. With 2 magic attack and 4 health, this card has defiantly room to grow but due to its Tank healing ability we can make up for the negative sides of this card.

Example Battle

Now that we have covered the main elements of our team, the strategy is very clear: Hit as hard as you can and try to heal as best as you can. It is a very interesting match up, because we were up against another Earth team. Unlike us, this Earth team had a different strategy with a complete different summoner which was supposed to counter our magic force with the help of the Void Ability. On top of that he was able to play Queen Mycelia as well, which will not help him at all because magic attack go through armor as we all know by now.

During the complete battle our opponent did not even come close to defeat out Taunt card since we were able to constantly health it up. In fact, in the end of the battle we were able to have our Slipspawn on its complete health from the beginning. This just shows how good this strategy can be in the long run, especially while dealing enough damage on your own.
