This week’s ‘Share Your Battle’ is a very interesting one. It is all about the Supply Runner and let me tell you something: This card is actually one of my favorites! In this article we will talk about things that make this card so valuable. In which circumstances we would play this card and what strategy we will select to choose the rest of our team. In the end, there will be an example battle as it is always about the battles that we fight and win! With that being said, let’s jumps straight into the article!
Supply Runner
First things first: We need to talk about this little hidden gem that is the supply runner. On the first glance this card looks fairly horrible: 6 mana for a ranged attacker that only has 4 health? No thank you! But let’s take a closer look at this card: With two ranged attack at the basis level this card brings a lot of firing power which can get up to three on the highest levels. But what truly distinguish this card from others is its speed. With an astonishing three speed this card is already very quick and gets to attack very early in a battle. This can be a very important advantage in the long run when the monsters start to lose their health. Not only that but with level 5 it increases the speed of the whole board which is actually sometimes overlooked. In its final form it even granting our monsters an additional health which describes this card perfectly as its name is “Supply Runner”.
Another thing that is really cool about this card is that it is a neutral card so it can be played in any battle where neutral monsters are allowed. Not only that, but it is also a common card which makes it playable for everyone. This is why I would recommend anybody who is starting out to not overlook this amazing card, especially not when we are talking about the following battle rulesets!
Battle Rulesets and Strategy
Now that we talked about the star of this article we need to talk about our strategy as well as the Ruleset that we will face in the example battle. For this battle we have the Sniping ability turned on for every Ranged and Magic attacker. Additionally, all monsters above rare are excluded which are the perfect conditions to try a common ranged attacker with a lot of speed! Many good epics and legendaries are banned and we get an extra buff on our Supply Runner. What better conditions could we get?
So what strategy our we choosing? Because the Supply Runner is a Ranged attacker, I am preferring the Life Splinter with General Sloan. This Summoner grants us an extra Ranged attack which will pay dividends in the long run. Furthermore, we need to think about our card positioning and how we could defend our Supply Runner. My number one tank of choice will always be the Shield Bearer as he will protect our monsters with his mighty Shield! Furthermore, we need to select more attackers to make some serious damage along the way. We will discuss each monster in the following sections.
Shield Bearer
As mentioned above, we need to protect our monsters as they will be mainly ranged attackers. This means that they will not be able to attack from the first position which is why we need to make sure that our tank will survive and ahs a lot of damage points to take in. The beauty about the Shield Bearer is that he has additionally the Taunt ability. This is especially important in this rule set as many of our opponent’s attackers will have the Snipe ability. With the Taunt ability we are countering the Snipe Ability and are able to guide his attacks on our tank.
With 8 mana this card is certainly not the cheapest one but we have 48 man to spent and these 8 mana is a real good investment for this battle as we will later see in the example battle. With 9 health and 4 armor this card is really hard to break through and it only gets better with higher levels! From level 5 and higher it even gets the shield ability which halves the melee and ranged damage on this monster.
Gargoya Devil
Next up in the line up we have the Gargoya Devil. Because it is a neutral monster it can again be used for every Splinter. The reason we are using this card in this battle has different reasons. The first one being because it is a ranged attacker and it will get an additional attack point which is very important to deal damage. The second reason is its abilities. Already at the lowest level this card brings us the flying ability as well the Close Range Ability. This means that this card is harder to hit and it can attack from the first position although it is a ranged attacking monster. This is an extra safety net for us in case our Shield Bearer will die.
Time Mage
One of the most important support units in the whole game and in this squad is the Time Mage. I can not stop talking only good stuff about this card. It might even be my most favorite one in the game. Not only does it have the most overpowered attacking style: Magic but it also has the Ability to reduce the Speed of our opponents! This is very important as we want to hit first with our buffed ranged attackers. We will see during the course of the battle that we will capitalize on this strategy! This card is so powerful I can not stop talking about it. Already at level 3 this card gets an extra attack which makes this card almost unbeatable in my opinion and with four speed it will almost always attack first.
Venari Crystalsmith
Another support unit but also a very important attacker is the Venari Crystalsmith! The main purpose of this card is to keep our tank alive so we can maintain our attacking force in the back. The additional cherry on the cake comes with his attacking style. Because he is a ranged attacker his attack gets buffed as well making him attack with 2 damage points which is not bad at all! With three speed at level two we also guarantee ourselves to attack very early with this card which also guarantees us to heal our tank very early in the round.
Pelacor Arbalest
Last but not least, we have our damage dealer: Pelacor Arbalest. He does not have the highest of health or the fastest of speed but what it does have is the Double strike Ability. With a buffed attack of three this card will deal 6 damage per round which is absolutely deadly to our opponents! In my opinion this card is an absolute must-have in every Life-Ranged squad, so defiantly give it a try!
Example Battle
To close off this article we have our example battler that I want to share with you. Everything that I talked about was theory until it comes to practice and boy, I love when a plan works how it is supposed to! We were able to win this game without any fatality because we outpaced our opponent and because we were able to hold off his attacks as long as possible with our shield Bearer. Not only that but our damage machine around the Supply Runner worked as expected! We were able to destroy our opponent fairly quickly and get our deserved win despite the fact that he had the more effective attacking style (Magic). This just shows how diverse this game can be and that every ruleset brings its won challenges!
