It is a very popular adage, of course, my grandmother mentioned it regularly, to be honest, it is something that I heard in many other places as well. It is so popular and widespread that it is even used by Miguel de Cervantes in his immortal Don Quixote de la Mancha: “In all houses they cook beans; and in mine, to boilers”.
For those who are not familiar with the expression, let's say that it means something like unpleasant events, bad news, inconceivable events, and common problems occur all over the world. Sometimes I am led to believe that things happen here that are impossible to happen in other countries, according to this saying I am totally wrong.
You will say, why this boring diatribe? Well, it was the first thought I had when I heard of the news that I never thought could happen, a young man under 20 hacked several cars of the company founded by the South African tycoon Elon Musk, of course, I am referring to Tesla.
A still teenager born in Germany and named David Colombo and dedicated to computer security, was able, apparently without much effort, to hack the TeslaMate system, software with which the circuits and operation of the famous brand's electric vehicles are managed and monitored.
David himself announced his work on Twitter at the beginning of January of this year and mentioned that he remotely accessed more than 25 vehicles of the brand, being able to perform different functions such as unlocking doors and windows, keyless ignition, managing the stereo, and activating the horn among others. Additionally, and as if all this were not enough, he found a flaw in the digital key that makes it possible to know the email address of the owner of the vehicle.
It is not the first time that vulnerabilities have been announced on vehicles of the brand and it shows that the work to improve the security of the software is still far from being completed.
This makes me think of rockets from SpaceX, another Musk firm. I hope the computer security team is not the same as Tesla, including the friendly shiba dog.
Es un proverbio muy popular, por supuesto lo mencionaba asiduamente mi abuela, para ser sincero es algo que escuché en muchas otras partes también. Tan popular y difundido es que hasta lo utiliza Miguel de Cervantes en su inmortal Don Quijote de la Mancha: “En todas casas cuecen habas; y en la mía, a calderadas”.
Para aquel que no está familiarizado con la expresión digamos que significa algo así como que en todo el mundo ocurren hechos desagradables, malas noticias, sucesos inconcebibles y problemas comunes. En ocasiones yo soy dado a creer que aquí ocurren cosas imposibles de ocurrir en otros países, de acuerdo a este refrán estoy totalmente equivocado.
Uds. dirán ¿a qué se debe esta diatriba aburrida?, bien, fue el primer pensamiento que tuve cuando me enteré de una noticia que jamás pensé que podía ocurrir, un joven de menos de 20 años hackeo varios automóviles de la compañía fundada por el magnate sudafricano Elon Musk, por supuesto me refiero a Tesla.
Un todavía adolescente nacido en Alemania y llamado David Colombo y dedicado a la seguridad informática, pudo, aparentemente sin demasiado esfuerzo, piratear el sistema TeslaMate, software con el cual se administran y monitorean los circuitos y el funcionamiento de los vehículos eléctricos de la afamada marca.
El propio David anunció su faena por Twitter a principios de enero de este año y mencionó que accedió en forma remota a más de 25 vehículos de la marca pudiendo realizar diferentes funciones como el desbloqueo de puertas y ventanas, encendido sin llave, manejo del estéreo y accionar la bocina entre otras.
Adicionalmente y como si todo esto no fuera suficiente, encontró una falla en la llave digital que posibilita conocer la dirección de correo electrónico del propietario del vehículo.
No es la primera vez que se anuncian vulnerabilidades sobre vehículos de la marca y demuestra que el trabajo de mejorar la seguridad del software todavía está lejos de cumplirse.
Esto me hace pensar en los cohetes de SpaceX, otra firma de Musk. Espero que el equipo de seguridad informática no sea el mismo de Tesla, incluido el simpático perro shiba.

Esos puntos de seguridad informática son fundamental hoy en día, desde mi punto de vista tienen que enfocarse mas en su sistema de seguridad, en las barreras para poder evitar cualquier tipo de problemas y mas aun con SpaceX.
