Scams circulate at high speed everywhere, we see them every day and it seems that new and ingenious ways are emerging faster than the way to prevent them. This kind of fact reminds me of some funny movie where the thieves go in a Lamborghini and the policemen chase them on foot.
A few days ago a piece of news caught my attention because it spoke of the importation here in my country of a large number of machines to mine bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, however, the report did not point to the supposedly main objective of mining but to a good business based in the over-invoicing in the value declared in the customs of the imported equipment.
As it turned out, the machines were imported from the United States, although in reality they were manufactured, when not, in China. The price of each one was around US$10k, although it is an average since there were several models with different capacities. According to Customs inquiries, the retail value in the country was around 6.5k to 7.0k. A difference of a little more than 30% in quantity made a big difference.
In addition to the import business, we have the price difference between the official dollar and the blue or parallel dollar, the state delivers the official value to settle the amount of each import order, although the real value of that currency in our country is in these moments to more than double, a great business, although later the machines were not used for the real purpose for which they were designed.
And if it were the case that the machines were really used for mining, we have another great business if they are taken to Ushuaia, in that beautiful, although remote place in our country where a combination of three benefits makes companies dedicated to mining cryptocurrency mining is choosing right now: cold weather essential to cooling machines, subsidized electricity, and industrial promotion law that allows for tax breaks. The business is so profitable that even with the current low prices in the crypto market, new investors continue to arrive in the city at the end of the world.

Las estafas circulan a gran velocidad en todas partes, lo vemos a diario y parecería que surgen nuevas e ingeniosas formas más rápido que la forma de prevenirlas. Este tipo de hechos me hace recordar alguna película cómica donde los ladrones van en un Lamborghini y los policías los persiguen a pie.
Pocos días atrás una noticia atrajo mi atención porque hablaba de la importación aquí en mi país de un gran número de máquinas para minar bitcoin y otras criptomonedas, sin embargo, el informe no apuntaba al objetivo supuestamente principal de la minería sino a un buen negocio basado en la sobrefacturación en el valor declarado en la aduana de los equipos importados.
Según pudo saberse, las máquinas se importaban de Estados Unidos, aunque en realidad estaban fabricadas, cuando no, en China. El precio de cada una rondaba los u$S 10k aunque es un promedio dado que los modelos eran varios de distintas capacidades. Por las averiguaciones de la Aduana, el valor de venta al público en el país rondaba los 6.5k a 7.0k. Una diferencia de un poco más del 30% que en la cantidad hacía una gran diferencia.
Además del negocio en la importación tenemos la diferencia de cotización entre el dólar oficial y el blue o paralelo, el estado entrega al valor oficial para saldar el importe de cada orden de importación, aunque el valor real de esa moneda en nuestro país está en estos momentos a mas del doble, un gran negocio, aunque luego las máquinas no se utilizaran para el real fin por las que fueron diseñadas.
Y si llegara el caso de que realmente las máquinas fueran utilizadas para minar, tenemos otro gran negocio si las mismas son llevadas a Ushuaia, en ese hermoso, aunque remoto lugar de nuestro país donde una combinación de tres beneficios hace que las empresas dedicadas a la minería de criptomonedas la estén eligiendo en estos momentos: el clima frío esencial para refrigerar las máquinas, la electricidad subsidiada y una ley de promoción industrial que posibilita exenciones impositivas. El negocio es tan rentable que aun ante las bajas cotizaciones actuales en el mercado criptográfico, continúan llegando nuevos inversionistas a la ciudad del fin del mundo.
Muchos quieren tener todo y algunos lo logran. Hace muchos años una cantante y compositora de música para niños escribió una letra que describe con precisión este hecho: quieren tener la sartén por el mango, y el mango también.
