About a week ago I started doing a daily post on STEEM directing people to HIVE. Then one of the posts was removed from showing on any of the STEEM platforms.
That's when I added a censorship test to the daily posts.
I began systematically using variations of promoting HIVE, between titles, tags/topics, live links, and post content.
Nothing was censored except that first post talking about the completed HIVE Getting Started tutorial. That is until today.
I created 3 posts with variations on the theme, with the last not mentioning hive in the tags, title, or live links. It still didn't post. But then I decided to take a look at the site while logged out and viewing the main page.
No New Posts on the Entire Chain
I went to "All posts" for the entire chain and then "New."
Imagine my surprise to see that it wasn't my posts being censored so much as the chain simply not posting anything from anyone in the last 2 hours.
Is STEEM abandoned or just having tech problems its noob witnesses can't handle?
In any case, I quickly went to the exchanges and put in a conservative ask price on a limit order from my last powerdown over the weekend. Typically I wait to sell until Tues/Wed because that's when Justin has been defending the price (pumping it). But if there is bigger trouble here, I want to sell at the current price instead of gambling it will go higher.
Are you still posting on STEEM at all? If so, have you had problems posting lately?
I decided to abandon Steem the very first day I started seeing the intentions of the new ownership and how the community launched Hive. It is true that I do not have too much skin in the game as my assets were quite low. But dealing with what is supposed to be a decentralized platform and finding out the "censorship" one of the main players is putting into practice is enough for me to just not waste my time anymore. There is enough censorship in our lives to just add some more from a stupid billionaire.
By the way, congrats on those tutorials, they are stunning!
Thanks! They were definitely a labor of love, so nice to have the feedback that they help folks.
And yes, it is just amazing the levels Justin has been willing to go to in bringing communism to a "decentralized" blockchain, as if that could ever work. Just shows how completely clueless he is when it comes to the very concept. But I still want to shift the steem rewards pool over to hive, so am putting up daily shitposts there until I finish my current powerdown. I've still got a few weeks left.
Does anyone comment on there anymore? lol

Your comment got hidden in the nesting so just seeing it now. Yeah, it is pretty much a dead chain in terms of community at this point. But a number of us are shitposting there to gain STEEM we can use to buy HIVE.

Been powering down and not posting even before the HIVE fork. It's pretty much a ghost town.
I'm powering down too, but I feel obligated to shift as much capital from the steem chain to the hive chain as I can. So seems necessary to spend the 5 mins each day posting there to get the autovotes I get there, then sell to buy more hive. I'll be glad when it's done though. As soon as my current 13 week powerdown is complete, I'll start another for what I've amassed with my shitposts on there, and that will be it. Won't bother posting anymore on STEEM after that. I suspect by then no one will be reading/ live curating on that chain anymore.
Sounds like a great plan. Shitposting there for the rewards while powering down makes sense.
That's what I'll continue doing until my last 300 STEEM are gone.

Looks like the problem is still ongoing 10 hours in. I echo your concern regarding the STEEM I'm trying to powerdown. Didn't want to take it through an exchange for HIVE just yet, in case the values were to close again, but now, I don't know. Is there any STEEM oriented discord servers left? Is there anyway to get information from someone who can tell us? All the discord servers I'm attached to have switched to HIVE.
Same for me. I have no line into what's happening with STEEM anymore. All the insight I have it someone looking at the blockchain itself and seeing my suspended posts not showing on the sites.
I've been taking a look at Steemd.com and it looks like blocks are still being made with STEEM Monsters dominating the blocks. :) There are a few other types of transactions, mainly upvotes, but when you click on their urls, you get more error messages than actual data.
I've just checked to see if something more drastic, like STEEM accounts powering down. The big three—Steemit, Steem and misterdelegation aren't, but adm is. The consensus witnesses are still running 22.888, so nothing has changed there. And it does look your posts did show up on the blockchain, but as you say, not showing up through the front ends.
It's a mess.
I don't use Steemit anymore, but I still post to Appics....Or at least try to. And it's like 50/50 chance that my posts get uploaded...
Forget about trying to upvote or comment...That's even worse...Sad really, glad I made the decision on day 1 to move to HIVE.
I wonder how long some of the apps that hung in with Steem will remain.
APPICS was a wonderful concept yet they cannot be happy about what is taking place.

Yeah they have to see the writing on the wall for sure. But they got that hefty delegation but you are right...They must be thinking to move away somehow..
I'm glad I never got into Appics. I only started posting again on Steem a week ago and it honestly is a burden, but one I feel I should carry to shift funds from steem to hive chain as much as I can for a while.

Good catch. That sounds pretty likely. And having the original developers on HIVE now would mean we'd better be able to fix such a problem.
Ah. But HIVE development team is responding successfully enough that we can at least have this conversation. Steem team probably still doesn't even know what the problem is.
I personally don't understand how these shared nodes work at all. I'm guessing it's what STINC used to provide, but how could we fork to HIVE and keep their nodes?
We didnt keep their nodes. A number of people on Hive set up their own. It was part of establishing a new blockchain.
It would be a timing thing to have both down, if that is the situation with Steem. I heard they were trying to put another fork in but who knows.

Yeah, it's been glitchy for me today too. I wonder what could be happening that's hitting both chains at the same time. Apparently there are more experienced developers on HIVE, so we can at least post here, despite all the page refreshing we have to do. But Steem is just not functioning at all.
What could cause this on both chains simultaneously?
are you having issues on Hive? it would be odd if both chains had similar issues at the same time if they are independent
Steem is simply a shadow of what it once was. I actually had given up on its management, till Hive came to bring hope. From Arcange’s data I saw earlier, Hive is already thriving better than Steem.
You can post on steemit and it can be upvoted in the first minute or so and then it disappears in the abyss. I imagine most likely it's a technical issue that will be resolved in a few hours/days. post still show up on steemd.com and steemworld.org. I haven't posted there today though with this account.
But it could be an issue where steemit inc is preparing to token swap to tron or something mad like that. Anything is possible

It is definitely still down even now. Crazy. Glad we're on HIVE.
The top 8 Trending posts have 12 comments in total on them. my last visible post on Steem had 9 :D
Yes my one of my posts related to Hive was censored on Steemit & Steempeak but it's still accessible on Steempeak if one has a direct url link for it.
Steem is undergoing some glitch. Even some upvotes received are visible on SteemNow & SteemWorld but ain't still registered on Steemit, SteemPeak or Steemd explorer. It's weird!

My first guess would be the noob witnesses. I don't post on STEEM any more but to be fair, STEEM did have a few chain freezes under the old guard too. I suspect the new witnesses are on a bit of a learning curve but I'd be surprised if it's more than a temporary outage.
That said, my powerdown can't complete fast enough. Still 2 weeks to go....
Yeah, my powerdown was delayed by my needing to first undelegate about 1000SP then restart the powerdown I'd started a half week before. Will be so relieved when it's done.
Looks like STEEM is back up and all my test posts suddenly are visible. Oops.

Just published something on STEEM a few minutes ago, and it didn't showed up too.
I though at first is that i was censored because i was comparing STEEM prices vs HIVE prices, but apparently, no article is appearing on the front-ends.
They get published on the blockchain, but don't appear on the front-ends.
The newest article showing on STEEM is from 8 hours ago.
Meanwhile HIVE has been glitchy today, but at least we can have this conversation!
