Today was an episode I've been looking forward to having since we started doing this podcast and when @themarkymark hit me up a few weeks ago and let me know he could pop by for a talk...We jumped at the opportunity!

And wow, he's been busy over the past few months...

First with the launch of the Ape Mining Club and more recently, Punks on Hive!

His applications have taken the chain by storm and we touch on that and so much more in today's episode!

Hope you guys enjoy the talk!

It was a blast for us!

It was a great time and I learned a ton. Marky really knows a lot of stuff about the tokenomics of all this stuff, especially gaming. His ability to clarify some of Hive's less known workings also helps a great deal.

A terrific show.

Had a ton of fun. And I actually understood it all LOL

Hi Jon,

I couldn't message you directly on Twitter and don't know if you are on discord, but I withdraw a small amount of swap.hive through hivepay and have not yet received hive. account name mawit07. Can you this fix? Thanks!

Hey, pop by the Hive Pay Discord and Blain can take a look for you:

I'd love to see something like metaHive account. The thing that wouldn't make it necessary to create separate accounts for voting in tribes. THe thing that would separate voting mana from tribe, you could for example decide from the level of any frontend - I'm going to vote for this post 100% leo, but 0% Hive, and 20% PAL. I'd like to see this integrated in basic condenser, to make it available open source for tribes. This would create more freedom within tribes to post shorter and more diverse content IMO. Also the more obvious system of showing in which tribes the content is posted would help. Tags as a tool to post, but some sort of icon or graphic hint to show to receivers.
Great conversation! Thank you.

Yeah we actually built one for the CTPtalk.com front end, but we still need to get it included. Still learning how to get it into Outposts. But that would be something we want to get out to people soon!

Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the show!

Thanks for having me on @jongolson

Oh man, my pleasure. Thanks for rocking out with us. Appreciated the talk very much!

Hivepay nice 😌 we could save 0.80% of our withdrawal or deposit 😍

Yup, just need to keep building liquidity for it :)

That was a great episode guys. I didn't hear/read enough of Marky lately, and I felt his perspective on things is necessary for a good balance. I've got him on notification now, for when he posts new stuff. :)

Awesome man, yeah he's a gem on the blockchain for sure. A huge asset for Hive!

I could be wrong as Marky knows more about crypto then me for sure. Am i wrong with thinking that he is wrong on the eth/hive take?
He said that all you need to do on eth is buy it and that is it, but on hive you need to vote, curate, post... to not lose on your holdings.
But eth is unlimited supply same as hive (inflation is different) so if you just buy eth you are losing on it "the same" as on hive. But on hive you have an option to get more if you spend time working on it.
comparison is not fair for sure, hard to compare different things but, if you bought 100$ eth/hive year ago:
you would get ~ 0.17eth ($717 at current price, $829 at ATH)
you would get ~ 769 hive ($1100 at current price)
but if you spend time curating/upvoting with ~ 11% you would get + 85 hive, $122 at the moment (number is probably not exact as it depends on hbd/hive rewards and when/if you change hbd to hive)

so if you got hive year ago you have $270 more then if you just got eth (if you calculate it with eth ATH). if you voted with that stake you have ~ $390 more. and i am not counting any posting or comments votes that you can get.

i could be wrong and if i am i would like to know why am i wrong.

My point as I said was relative.

Meaning, let's say we both own 100K Hive. I buy it, and do nothing. You buy it, stake it, curate, author, and downvote highly rewarded low quality content.

At the end of the year, I will have 100K Hive, you will likely have around 112K.

Compare that to ETH/BTC or any other token where this dynamic doesn't exist.

so hive is better 😂

it depends on the type of chain, inflation... if i buy ETH and do nothing for a year i will have less % of ETH if i compare all available ETH year ago and now. Only way to keep up without buying is mining. so to keep up on hive you spend time, on eth you spend money for miners.

it does feel different because on hive it is obvious that you are "loosing opportunity" to get more if you do nothing. on eth most people don't even think about mining so it is not that obvious.

also hive has bigger inflation? so it is more obvious.

for coins with fixed total supply, that is a different story.

hive is a weird chain and it is hard to compare it to anything.

Only way to keep up without buying is mining. so to keep up on hive you spend time, on eth you spend money for miners.

I've always seem the reward pool as an alternative form of mining.

that is how i seen it from the time i had some understanding of how it works.

I will leave this question for the smarter people in the room :)

Nice to hear you guys pick @themarkymark brain. Interesting to see if he will explore his "Big" splinterlands scale game...

I can't wait to see what it might be!

I think I learned quite a bit. So the account creation can be changed if the blockchain needs it based on the witnesses. I was worried about how things would change if a bunch of people suddenly jumped in.

Yeah like how much it costs, is controlled by the witnesses and most of the changes wouldn't need a hard fork.

It was great seeing you and taskmaster talking it out with Marky. Truth was that hivefest was just that perfect opportunity to see punks hit the ground running. Suprised he had limited time to put it together.

Oh man, the timing was perfect. And the fact he pulled it all off, was nothing short of legendary lol

It was legendary, and seeing the reception at hivefest towards punk? Mehn that was astonishing.

Spread love.
