Hello there folks, I haven't posted anything in a while. It's been a matter of time and motivation I guess. I think it's time to dust off the old keyboard for one final F.U. to 2020. That being said:
It was the shittiest of years, but it was worth it
It's difficult for me to claim 2020 was all bad, because this happened:
That's right, I became a father to a perfect baby boy. If you require any motivation to suck it up and keep going, get yourself one of these little critters! It's amazing how much this little tyke has turned my life upside down and turned me into an emotional wreck. How much of a change it has been going from a sovereign wayward vagabond, to loving someone so unconditionally. I love plenty of other people in my life, but this is totally different.
I Discovered Covid-19 Is Real!
Sorry to disappoint you hoaxters, but Covid is the real deal. I know because I was blessed with it. It was like nothing I've ever experienced. Even after it had its way with me, it left me ravaged for a few weeks afterwards. Glad that is over, and now that I'm armed with some antibodies, I can be less paranoid.
I Didn't Do Very Much
I've lived such a blessed life in terms of travel and experiences for the last 2 decades up until the start of this year. I hope to get bit again by the travel bug, but for now I'll have to 'settle' for enjoying the natural beauty that comes with living in the Pacific Northwest, and hanging out with my family.
Other Complications
I don't want to get into specifics, but my life has been extremely complicated as of late. One challenge after another. I enjoy a good challenge, if it's the right kind of challenge. The sooner the challenges of 2020 are behind me in 2021, the better! That said, these 2020 challenges have helped solidify the kind of person I am, and also the kind of person I want to be.
Crypto
2020 has been a great year for crypto! Between swing trading GBTC in my brokerage/IRA accounts, mining, staking, and building nodes, I continue to be excited about this space. I've started to dip my toe into DeFi, but I'm not convinced most of it is not a shell game. With the funding of my Choice IRA, I'm about to hit my accumulation target for BTC, so I'll be able to start accumulating more altcoins like HIVE. I think I can at least make it to Quadruple Orca, or maybe even a Half Whale. We shall see, as HIVE is far from my only interest in this space.
On Hive
I continue to do 100% manual curation with 150k+ HP on this account. I've done a less than stellar job engaging with content, and my posting dried up a couple months ago. Hopefully I can turn that around in 2021.
There is great progress being made in this ecosystem. It lacks the hype that other projects have. It's disappointing to see the eggheads on here calling for technical changes to address marketing shortfalls. Going forward, I hope we can create some hype, because I believe there is enough technically here already to warrant significantly more interest and demand for the token. As I keep saying: It's not enough to build it for them to come. As much as I despise Justin Sun, we need over the top personalities like him to generate hype (less shady versions please). It feels like HIVE is a sanctuary for introverts. If people like that don't live here, we should hire them via the HDF.
My New Years Resolution
I feel that new years resolutions are dumb and cliché for the most part, but I'm going to make one anyways. My resolution is to create something new and learn something new every single day. I want to be a net producer of things, and not a net consumer of things. I want to continue to build my human capital and not let myself get stagnant. Most of my interests and motivation revolves around finance, blockchain, and crypto, much to the detriment of the IT field that has been very good to me. After 20+ years of tinkering with computer networks and building myself into an expert, it's good to evolve into something else.
Looking Forward To 2021
I know 2021 is going to be better! I really don't see how it could be worse than 2020. Time will tell. See you next year!

Congrats on the new edition to the family!!! They sure do change things don’t they. Mine are at the age of developing their attitudes. It’s pretty fun... I just laugh at the ridiculous stuff they get all pissy about.
This year’s flu bug is indeed a nasty one. It swept through our company last year around this time. People were missing a week or more of work. I was just down for 2 days... not really down but I didn't have the body aches like I have never had before and I was running a bit of a fever. Just relaxed on the couch for a couple days and took care of myself for the 3 day weekend and I was back at work on Monday. A couple people have it now and they are just mainly complaining about sore throats. Meh whatever...Cheers to to happy and healthy 2021!! I just want my kids back in school where they belong. 😉

I guess we can all say our lives got entangled with a lot of things in 2020 but then some of us had the opportunity of good things happening to us. Plus crypto became the realest things in 2020. Congratulations to being a father.

Us hoaxers aren't saying the virus isn't real.. just blown out of proportion by the media.. there was no reason to shut down the country.. no need for stimulus checks.. it's all about power and control..

Believe we had it run through our area pre-pandemic so no official diagnosis but def the symptoms matched. It sucked major balls but tend to agree the media is trying to drum up more hysteria than is merited... Seems to be helpful for the big businesses though. Cuz that's totally not suspicious /s 🤔
At the same time, I appreciate Josh's view that it is serious particularly for at risk populations which my oldest is part. We actually had to take her to the ER whereas I just slept it off for the most part. I got breathing treatment / albuterol near the end but w my little one it was a bit more scary as we had to administer an EPI pen due to breathing difficulty. So I def mask up and al that jazz when I go out.
But do think the shutdowns have likely caused irreversible damage to the economy especially to small businesses. Hopefully we can turn things around in 2021. Support small business y'all.
I was really referring to the virus itself, not the bureaucratic response to it. I think it's a matter of where the responsibility lies. If you're in the vulnerable fraction of a percent, it is the responsibility of you and yours to protect you. It is not everyone's responsibility to slash their own throats to protect you.
But you know what they say, never let a good crisis go to waste. Opportunists are going to opportune. It's really about making everyone equally miserable, they could give two shits about who lives or dies, as long as it isn't them and theirs.
We all pray and hope that 2021 becomes a lot better than 2020.

It wasn't so deadly to you because you are still here and you are still breathing and existing with the gift of a lovely and cure looking fella.

And the resolution you have for 2021 is not really a bad one.
I like the fact that you want to become a producer and not just a consumer.

Yeah, 2020 has been def been a crazy year but least we ending on a positive note w the crypto bull run. (Knocks on wood for no NYE flash crash).

Oh! with such a beauty of little critter that you have there so close to you. I have the hunch that there is no way that you can be able to do that again any time soon.
Because first of all, you'll have to learn how to change diapers the first lustrum at least. And thereafter, youl'll have to learn how to avoid being bent by the whims of your "handsome younger self" for at least fifteen years more.
So don't worry. From now onwards you will have at least eighteen years of success without any chance to have to drool in front of the TV or sucking up all your time playing video games.
Probably until the time comes when you have to re-exercise everything you've learned changing diapers applying those useful skills on yourself. Hahahaha
On the other hand... I am very happy to know that you were victorious in that battle against the strong embrace of covid and that you were successful escaping unscathed stronger and wiser from that menace. :)
