I had a discussion about this and even though it is true people tend to over estimate on the short term and under estimate on the long term, I also don't see society advancing as fast as someone will think.
B2B people claim that large companies have great tech but the rest is still lagging behind a great deal. Same with the government and other factors of society.
So people at the forefront of tech will see a great deal of innovation and change, your local hospital, accounting firm or government office won't see that innovation for many years. Which means the benefits are still several years to take place.
Think digital signatures, or digital processes. There are so many outdated everyday things that haven't changed in forever. Take all the innovation of Blockchain and how many governments still haven't adopted it and also regular industries, still have many questions on how to act.
Yes, many new businesses are taking that task as Blockchain companies create products that make it easier for companies to participate without any friction. But your average mom and pop shop still decades to have that on their roadmap.
Going back to the promises of AI let's not forget this is just a centralized platform that smaller or even big economies like Europe can't compete. Will that matter? Only time will tell. As for individuals, will it make our lives jobless? Maybe, and then what?
I don't think governments are preparing for high unemployment rates and people living off trust funds traded by AI bots. I'm more of the thought that more people will be pushed into the internet economy by building new businesses the way youtubers, Instagram or even Airbnb people are doing it right now, and traditional jobs will be replaced with individual enterprises.
