New Gig Option offered by LinkedIn & Dev openings in Hive

in LeoFinance2 years ago

I have always believed in opportunities.
We should never be limited by our present, or by what we have at that particular moment.

Opportunities are always right there and it is in our hand to find the ways to seize them.
Especially the last few years, and even more with the new, so quickly evolving technology - the blockchain - there is so much to do, to learn, to create!

It is just a matter of our own self. To be healthy and sane, to be prompt but also to be clearheaded and of course confident and hard working.

Only then we can better understand our own capabilities, our desires and therefore define our short/term goals. Then everything is easy, we can pave the road to our target :)

Do you agree?

And why am I writing this long prologue, you may ask?
Because I discovered another opportunity for free-lancers (and for everyone out there offering their services!)

Linkedin Launches a new free option "Service Marketplace"

So what, you may ask me?
To me, this is very important news. LinkedIn is a major professional social media player our there -

660 million users are on the professional network in more than 200 countries. The platform is also home to over 30 million companies. According to LinkedIn, their growth rate is at two new members joining per second.

The members of this platform, can present their CV, and also their skills, their seminars, education and more ... They can also write articles about any topic, they can follow Industry leaders etc.. Most of the well renown companies/universities etc - have well established company pages in LinkedIn. Moreover, believe it or not, there is plenty of blockchain discussion taking place there :) So, yes, I have an account in LinkedIn and it has helped me getting to know many people with whom we share common interests.

More statistics here

A couple of weeks ago, they announced their new Market Place of Services (think .. place gigs in LinkedIn!!)

Read the official announcement here

If you are an individual or small business owner who provides services, we encourage you to set up a service page from your LinkedIn profile. Since your service page is linked right at the top of your profile, your identity and page are connected.

When someone visits your Service Page, they’ll see if you have mutual connections, an overview of the services you provide, and ratings and reviews from your past clients. This will give you a leg up on the competition and help prospective clients feel more informed about requesting your services.

What’s more, they can immediately send a request for services without needing to connect or follow you.

Does this sound interesting?
I may try this out and if I will, I will let you know about how it ll go! At the moment, no time is spared for offering extra services :)

How to use the extra services marketplace option

Go over to your LinkedIn profile page, sign in and click on the 'work', where you ll see the below different options. Click on Service Marketplace

You will be transferred to a 'services' page where you have to scroll and find the option

You will find yourself at an one page services where things are very simple

This is just a test I did, and this is where it will appear, right under your profile.

Then, I trust that you either sit and wait for opportunities, or you can also be active, commenting and writing on the medium, so that more people can see your profile & services offered!

Will you try this out? What do you think?

I believe it is a very good addition, in comparison with free lance places (such as fiverr, upwork etc), this gig place comes right at a place where a user may already have a good following and it can be easier to stand out!

Linkedin is a great place to be, but I think the golden gigs are usually found through the mouth to mouth. This is how at least I got the job of my dreams and once I had the details the rest was to get in contact on LinkedIn and pass over the remote interview.

Well, I wont disagree with this ;)

I am happy to know that you are doing your dream job! Most of the people don't even know how to recognize their dream job :)
