The lithium price has reached US$ 71315 per ton, prices not seen since last April and close to all time high.

There is high demand for electric vehicles (EV) and the recent news of California banning gas powered cars by 2035 together with the US government unveiling $900 million in new funding to construct EV charging stations throughout the country.

In my opinion, the high price of lithium may end up making EV's too expensive and limiting the desired adoption of EVs by the public. In addition, growing concerns due to environmental issues of lithium mining will have to abe addressed sooner or later.

The rise in lithium prices seems to be driven by high demand for electric vehicles.
