Zuck backs down amid legislation changes

It's been a wild week in the land of Oz with Dorothy being blown all around the place as tech companies try to out manoeuvre negotiations between the Australian government and mainstream news providers.

Zuck last week censored ALL news from it's platform which also saw Australian government, unions, organisations, not for profits, mum and dad businesses and users caught in the cross fire as they too were censored. A clear oversight from Facebook as they clearly showed they didn't know who's who and what's what on their platform.

However the tactic left the Australian federal treasure unfazed as he commenced drafting legislation to tackle the temper tantrum of a 2 year old.

On the cusp of Zuck being Zucked himself and with nowhere to go amid the pending legislation changes that would leave Zuck out of options and suffering from the full weight of a Government. Facebook and Google both entered into deals to pay mainstream news providers for content on their platforms.

Either way Australian Government legislators weren't taking "good faith" negotiations as word and still passed legislation that ensured social media companies paid for news content on their platforms.

The Government is aware that it will take time to strike a payment deal between each provider and continues to monitor the situation.

Country towns have voiced their concerns that the social media giants are focusing on major companies in the city and fear country towns will miss out.

Other countries are now commencing to draft similar laws which will see Australia remembered as the country that Zucked Zuck.

Happy Friday everyone!
