How has Crypto and Blockchain Technology Impacted My Personal Finance - Ups and Downs.

Hi

I will be completely honest here, the story you're about to read sums up my relationship with crypto, countess downfalls, seriously bad decisions, and the stubbornness to continue despite all the shit I've been through. To be quite frank, I don't know how did I even retain the same dose of enthusiasm through all these years.

The Journey

My journey started with a bad decision, which is kinda funny considering all the circumstances.

So, I aped in FirstCoin (even the name sounds shady haha), ended up losing everything, blaming no one but me. I wasn't even mad tbh, just one of the countless slaps I received for not doing my own research properly. Most of the people would just leave the industry and focus on something meaningful, but not me. I went down the rabbit hole.

It didn't click immediately, I had to commit and learn like a savage to get a better grasp of how it works and why it has any value.

I wanted to be hyped about it but I couldn't, not until I learned the fundamentals. I quit my job (haha) and decided to go full crypto. I studied hard, terms such as inflation, deflation, quantitative easing, Federal reserves, money, central banks, golden standard, financial crises, capitalism, socialism, Hard fork, soft fork, POW, POS, DpOS, and much more became my new reality. I distanced myself from bad habits I use to enjoy, and fully commit.

Having in mind that I'm not a tech-savvy person I have had a hard time connecting the technicalities with the real-life use-case.

Days went by, even weeks. The status quo was killing me.

But then it clicked, and it clicked so god damn hard that I immediately knew, this is it, I wanna take part in the first non-violent revolution men kind ever experienced.

STEEM/Hive

I was still a rookie, just understood the concept of Bitcoin but wanted to know more. The time spent on Hive is priceless, the amount of information I gathered is so valuable that even if we don't make it (which is quite impossible) I would be grateful for it. Everything that I've read in theory I saw in practice, which deepened my understandings.

As time went by my interest in crypto rose exponentially to the amount of knowledge I gathered along the way. I quickly become real fucking OG. The idea of decentralization, immutability, and transparency are the new imperatives. My mind just kept thinking of it.

I got introduced to a whole different spectrum of tokenomics and interpretation of what the term value represents, it was satisfying. Quickly my approach towards money, savings, and interest changed drastically. I finally realized the potential of a permissionless blockchain that works the way it should, without a need of trusting anyone. Every penny I had I invested. Some of the decisions were legit, some were not, but hey, it's life!

My financial picture changed, started earning compounding interest on pretty much everything and I was hyped As fuck - Until prolonged winter came and fucked everything up. I was new to space so I couldn't possibly understand the market cycles and when it's time to get the fuck out. Lost at least 80% of the value in terms of dollars but It didn't bother me that much.

Not until I started trading.

Trade

Oh, it was just a matter of time when I'll get hooked to trading. And I subconsciously knew it but avoided it as much a possible - and for a good reason.

I always had that shit over my head that getting rich quickly is possible. The best way to do so is via leverage. It's actually funny I thought I had the skills to outsmart the market, especially the crypto market that is well known for high volatility.

Here comes the inevitable. I lost everything.

source

My trading experience started well, earned 800% in a matter of hours -lost everything in a single fucking wick and the leverage wasn't even high, around x5. It was a single 20% bloodbath wick.

Like holy shit I thought, not having a cut loss ended up as the biggest fukin mistake I could have made. Never mind, it's all the part of the process.

Few more mistakes followed very soon, I was completely driven by the emotions and hope of returning the money I lost. And it wouldn't even be a problem if I readjusted my strategy, but Nah, I continued aping in with x30 leverage until I lost every single penny haha.

That's the time I realized I'm fucking degen, not only that, I worked tirelessly to have more money to invest, and oh boy, I fucked it all up!

Conclusion

Regardless of how many mistakes I made, regardless of how many times I've fallen down to my fucking knees, I always had that spark that couldn't be silenced. Everything I did, I did on my own, wasn't forced by anyone, wasn't dragged in some cult, nope, It was all me...

My financial situation is still fucked, at least if compared to what I could have had If played smarter, but I have grown since then and the idea of successfully managing funds is intrinsically important. Don't buy that shit you hear on news, don't buy that shit you read on Twitter, just trust your instinct and you'll get there.

The idea of getting rich quickly fucked us up, there's no easy way, otherwise, everyone would be rich and happy. In hard times you ape in, in good times you ape out! Remember this!

That's a bumpy ride you've had....

Agree there seems to be no quick'n'easy way of getting rich.....quick'n'easy if you have money already of course, but then you're not 'becoming' rich, you are already.

Easier it is to get rich slowly, like on Hive and LeoFinance. We're at the start of the upturn and I think the 10k or so Hive you have will flood your pockets in the near future :D

Sure, never thought of Hive to be a get rich quickly thing, it was more like a long-run thing. Maybe it will be a bit postponed but we'll get there. :D

If there is anything i will never play with it is trading. I am glad i discovered crypto as a content creator and though it hasn't drastically increased my earnings i am fine with it. We've all had our fair share of ups and downs in the crypto sphere but personally, i don't regret a thing. I enjoy the experience of learning and shaping the future with my fellow community members.

Spot trading is cool, just buy what you believe and wait until the price starts following, futures on the other hand are wild west... Need to have the straight-up discipline to make it through.
I don't regret either, we all learn along the way, the process is what matters, regardless of how hard it gets.

haha what a story! i hope at least from now on to have "grown" and manage your funds way better as you say!
