RE: The LEO Dilemma: Changing the Way I Curate Content

in LeoFinance3 years ago

I have a slightly different aproach. I vote for most of the posts with rewards below 1 leo. We need to retain users. People feel useless and inferior when seeing good authors getting big rewards.
Eventually, we'll get to the right course, but for now quality shouldn't be a priority.
I even saw some people calling to start witchhunt, blacklisting, and downvoting. Very bad idea. Look what they did to hive.

With time people will learn what is right and what's not. Authors and curators.

Yep, bingo. The first goal should be to bring in and retain users, goals 2-5 should be to bring in and retain users. Growth is the name of the game right now. Get the numbers up and worry about the rest later on.

Hit it on the head. We haven't reached critical mass yet and we are somehow wanted to kill off our potential brand ambassadors. This worries me.

I agree 1000%. Stop trying to manipulate things. Let it grow organically. We do need users and to encourage engagement. Those who feel they need to take control of the direction of things will lead to, as you stated, a repeat of Hive.

It seems there is a group of Leo police looking to form.

Big mistake.

I agree 100%. We have been down this road before.

I've noticed that from your part and wanted to congratulate you. I know that rewarding already established great content creators is somehow a "noble act", but in order to grow the community new folks need to be encouraged as well. I wouldn't encourage spam, but I know how it feels to be the new guy and am very thankful for the ones who helped keep my moral up and continue my journey on leofinance. I guess this one of the strong incentives of being part of leofinance, the wider distribution of rewards.

I like that approach you have chosen, I think I will spend more time finding those type of posts too.

You are a billion percent right. This whole idea is a big miscalculation. I was about to go all in in Leo but no I have my doubts

People feel useless and inferior when seeing good authors getting big rewards.

And by not curating Leo-related content, (which seems to be the underlying idea reading the comments), we set limitations for newcomers who've never experienced anything before LeoFinance.

If they aren't even 'allowed' to talk about their LEO experience, can we expect them to talk about other crypto- without having personal experience..?

It's way too early to focus on diversified content.

It's not about newcomers talking about leo. It's about the same old people talking about it every day.

Yeah, I can see how that is Khal's intentions, but I'm still worried for how things will turn out. Not because of Khal, but because of how people will act going forward.

I admire your approach. People should feel it is worth their time to post. Thank you.

You are a LEO angel for doing this. Big votes and big wins are great. But we need "healthy middle class" that makes few LEO reliably if they post something nice. There has been many times I spend an hour on a post and get less than 0.5 LEO.

In a way it drove me to making comments because I end up earning much better with comments I spend 3 minutes writing. We still need to downvote spam. But if its a quality post, the support needs o be their. I've only got 719.695 LP. So not much I could do. But you've been doing some great work. Thanks a lot @oldtimer

But we need "healthy middle class"

Buy leo and power up rewards. That's how we'll get that. Not cashing out.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Haven't sold a single LEO yet! Haven't had much money to buy much thanks to not having a proper job etc. But recently I've been earning more from LEO than Hive.

I meant in general, not for you. If someone wants to be in the middle-class need to invest in leo token. That's the only way. Just with rewards, you'll not get there. With more users and higher price of leo rewards will go down.

Funny thing is I'm ranked #425 in LEO Power in richlist. If LEO price really goes up and we get 100K active user.... I'll actually be part of middle class :)
