Safe Discomfort In Trying To Achieve Financial Freedom

in LeoFinance2 years ago

Humans differ in their reaction to things, one person’s total failure on something that means a lot to them that ends up breaking them down is another person’s stepping stone to achieving greater things. This means that it’s possible for two people to have the same experience, fail from that experience and one of them can see it as a motivation to never give up and keep going while the other person can see it as a reason to give up. Some people know this so they try their best to avoid doing things that will hurt them so bad, while some don’t know this and they keep doing it. This is why some people like me sometimes stay pessimistic on things because like they say ”Expectations is the birth of disappointment”.

Most times I like doing things that if I fail at, it won’t be the end of the world for me. Or let’s call it a mistake I can learn from. This is what I call a safe discomfort. This is very ironic because it’s a discomfort that you feel safe doing. This is because, life is a risk, you can’t succeed or achieve anything in this life if you don’t take those steps. Taking steps is a risk because a lot can happen when you take steps, you can achieve your goal or you can fail and lose what you had while trying to achieve your goal.

Recognizing Safe Discomfort

Safe discomfort is everywhere in our lives, we find our selves doing the safest dangerous things because we know that when we fail at that thing we won’t hurt bad. Now relate that to trying to achieve financial freedom. Have you realized why some people prefer to work 9-5 than being entrepreneur? This is because, it’s the safest discomfort they can tolerate. Yeah!!That’s right, as an adult you are responsible for yourself and your well being, you can’t run to your parents for financial handouts anymore. So this time, you have to make your own money. There are people who are fortunate enough to know what their career passion is and they achieved it, while they are some people like me who have no idea what career path they should have chosen because they lost interest in choosing a career path along the way. So you are left with 2 options, get a job or be an entrepreneur.

To some people, getting a job is a safer discomfort because they can tolerate getting a fixed salary and getting bossed around by their boss, but they can’t take the risk of being an entrepreneur because they can’t withstand the pressure of financial uncertainties and losing money. While we have some people that consider entrepreneur as a safer discomfort than getting a job because they are scared of being fired from the job after dedicating their whole life to that job. So it’s a matter of perspective and choice.

Mind you these two people can both achieve financial freedom from both of these options and also not achieve financial freedom. . We have seen millionaire employees and also seen extremely poor employees. We have also seen millionaire entrepreneurs and poor entrepreneurs. Getting a job doesn’t guarantee you financial freedom and so is being an entrepreneur.

Learning From Your Safe Discomfort

One thing you should know is whatever you are trying to do to achieve your financial freedom, lots of people are doing the same thing and are probably better than you, this is why it’s always advisable to do things you love and have passion for. This will give you consistency because failure on that thing doesn’t break you but teaches you. This way you find yourself constantly trying to learn to be better at that thing. This way it helps you grow in a healthy way but with a very slight chance of danger(failure).

Classic human nature. We always want to take the easier way out. Guilty as charged :)

Hmm... You make a valid point though! Both fields really can and can't guarantee you financial freedom. Damn it, this life is kinda messed up though.

We live in a world of polarity and opposites. One action requires an equal opposite reaction. I think it was Jesus who said that right?

Welp in that case, if I don't make it as a salary earner or an entrepreneur, i could always just start up an OF😂. Seems to be paying a lot these days lol.

😂 even starting an OF doesn’t guarantee you that. We still have unsuccessful Only Fans content creators, but good luck though.
