With the USD value of DEC (Splinterlands in game currency) being at all time highs there's never been a better time to play ranked play and move up league standings.
Each league has its own specific leader board. The further you progress up the league standings and league levels the more FREE Rewards you can potentially win.
There's many benefits to moving up leagues. You get to earn more Reward Chests per completed daily quest. You get to earn more Rewards Chests in season end rewards and the amount of DEC you can capture increases as you go up leagues.
With so many FREE Rewards being given out in this awesome game that is Splinterlands there needs to be some rewards protection. This is where League Power comes in.
If you want to play at the top you need to have a certain percentage of "Power" that allows you access to the top league. If this wasn't in place it would be too easy to farm rewards thus decreasing the value of what we all earn.

Above you will notice some leagues don't require any "Power" to compete in them. Those are the "starter" leagues (NOVICE League). This is by design as its very (VERY) easy to get out of the NOVICE league. If you are stuck there I suggest brushing up on the game play rules and then going back and smashing your competition.

The Novice League doesn't earn any Season End Rewards. Chest Rewards start to be earned at the Bronze Level all the way up to the Champion Level. The amount each League/League Teir earn ranges from 5-150 Free Chest Rewards. These Chest Rewards contain many different in game assets. Some of the in game assets that can be found in Chest Rewards include: Cards, DEC, Boosters (When available), Potions.

You made it into Champion League? Congratulations! The money is good in those higher Leagues. Of course the money is pretty good in the lower leagues too thanks to the DEC peg.

My power score allows me to max out in Diamond III league and every end of season I have to rent cards to try and get to Champion league.
