Triple-Earner: Earn Return three ways on purchased stocks

I am diversified into legacy investments and cryptocurrency. I bought some dividend paying stocks during the recent crash.

I call these triple gainers because 1. They give a return on my investment because they pay a dividend, 2. They give a return on my investment because they appreciate in value and 3. They give a return on my investment because they are optional, so I can sell calls on them 1 week out and get small premiums for strike prices they are unlikely to reach and earn a third way.

For example:

Ford pays a dividend.
Ford appreciates each year.
Ford is option-able.

I recently bought Ford for less then five on a dip.
It’s down a couple bucks a share.
I expect it to appreciate.
I expect it to pay a dividend.
I then sold April 5 calls with 5.50 strike price for 0.05 or 5$ per contract.
I don’t expect Ford to rise 10% in one week.
That’s $5/$500 per contract or 1% gain in one week on premium alone.
I can do this every week for a small gain and potentially make 1% every week or so on option premiums alone.

If Ford jumps 10% I get called out and I make 0.50 per share or $50.00 per contract.
That’s $50/$500 on appreciation or 10% gain.

I will take my gains and buy ATT or Coca-Cola or wait for a dip and buy Ford again.

I think of this like a video game, only instead of an I game currency I make USD :)
