Hive Blockchain Investments Week 2: Top 5 Hive-Engine Tokens to Pay Attention To

in LeoFinance4 years ago

Hello @spinvest readers, I hope this post finds you profitable.

Last week's introduction to HIVE investments post gave a very basic introduction to investing within the blockchain on Hive-Engine.

Later on that day, I posted on my personal account a call to share with me what top 10 tokens we as a community believed were worth taking second and third looks at.

I took the time to look at different aspects of these tokens. I took into account, the team behind each project, the amount of tokens available, the backing of the tokens with other assets, and the usability of the token.

My initial suggestion list was critiqued, and based on the answers, and taking closer looks at tribes, these are the ones I came up with (list is in no particular order). I was initially going to name 10 tokens, but let's be honest here. Nobody reads SUPER LONG POSTS. Enjoy the list of 5 and come back next week to see the other five tokens worth looking at.

Five Hive Engine Tokens Worth Studying .jpg

1 - Spinvest

My personal favorite (biased opinion) of all the tokens on HIVE-Engine is @spinvest. I like them for various reasons

  • They house these posts ;)

  • The team puts their money where their mouth is. Instead of selling tokens, and paying themselves from the profit of their sales, the team, buys their own tokens and invests the income to make the tokens worth more.

  • They have a dedicated team of people who discuss investments, share in the work of writing articles and updates, keep different aspects of the investment going, and generally chit chat and share knowledge with each other.

  • Tokens have a backing beyond speculation. The value of these tokens are backed by HIVES, Bitcoin, Tether, Silver, and other goods. Some of these investments are actively earning interest.

  • There is a limited amount of tokens meaning that the value cannot be watered down due to too many sales.

  • There is a welcome environment which welcomes questions

  • If you pay attention, HODling the token, comes with knowledge on what and how to invest.

  • Deeper layers of the token are being built with new up and coming projects, which will feed dividends to SPI token holders

  • Token holders earn dividends in HIVES

Each Spinvest token is backed by approximately 1.8 HIVE worth of investments, you can see however, that to buy one, you must be willing to spend at least 3.4 HIVES or you can try to win one at the auction

2 - DEC

Screenshot 2020-06-23 at 4.04.38 AM.png

  • DEC token is a layer token within the Splinterlands world. You can earn DEC by winning battles, by completing quests, and by earning season rewards. Each season lasts about 14 days.

  • These tokens can be exchanged on HIVE-Engine for HIVE, or STEEM-Engine for STEEM, and TRON. They can also be used to buy more cards, to make your splinterlands deck stronger.

  • DEC can also be burned by donating to your in guild (an in-game team made up of fellow splinterlands players which competes against other guilds)

  • You don't have to play splinterlands to get your hands on this token, you can simply buy it on the HIVE (or STEEM) Engine.

  • One of the commenters on my post, wrote that DEC was roughly pegged 1000DEC to 1USD. I saw evidence of that as I can buy a 2USD pack of Untamed Cards for 2000 DEC. However, taking a closer look at Hive-Engine, showed me that the peg is unstable at most, and not really able to be compared.

  • Splinterlands also has a dedicated team that is wanting to grow beyond the HIVES blockchain, and integrates with STEEM and TRON Wallets.

  • DEC can be used on more than one platform, including peakmonsters.com

Cards can be burned to earn DEC and DEC can be used to buy cards

3 - SIMS

  • Sims is the token that you earn when you play dcity. You can follow the tag to see a slew of tutorials on how to play the game, and you can also look at the tutorial I wrote.

  • My favorite thing about SIMS token is that it has a marketplace filled with HIVE users who want to buy and trade game cards using the tokens.

  • You earn SIMS through your city.

  • HODLing SIMS gives you more power within your city for governance purposes. This encourages players to HODL SIMS, instead of always trying to sell it or trade it for new cards.

  • SIMS does not have a dedicated team, but it does have @gerber who may as well be a team all on his own. He answers all questions posted on Discord, is constantly looking to make his game profitable for all involved, and has great long term vision.

  • SIMS is also amazing because it integrates with other communities, including WEED, STEM, BEER, and CCC. Cross referencing other projects gives a depth to the token that makes it seem worthwhile to invest in.

  • You don't HAVE to play SIM City in order to get the token, you can simply buy it on HIVE-Engine and be a HODLer.

  • If you base the worth of SIMS or Card Buying Power you will find that 200 SIM is worth roughly 1 HIVE. Sometimes you can pick up coins for cheaper than that (and sell them back just a few hours later, if that's what you are into).

You can choose to use your city as a passive income stream, or you can keep re-investing to make your city grand

4 - LE0

  • The Leo Lion is a beast which is currently trading at about 5 Leo Tokens for Every HIVE.

  • LEO boasts of a Beast of a Buy Wall

Screenshot 2020-06-23 at 3.33.11 AM.png
That is a very healthy buy wall

  • LEO has its own interface that you can post through, with a very specific niche posting platform. Finance.

  • LEO has consistent bloggers which write about real estate, abundance mentality, bitcoin, chart reading, and general household finances

  • LEO is working on a marketplace where you can buy and sell using its coin.

  • LEODex exists, visit it to learn more about the coins I just wrote about.

  • LeoPedia also exists, where you can learn more regarding HIVES investments

  • Hivestats is also part of the LEO project which helps you guage how well you are at growing your HIVES investment

5 - LOTUS

Tokens are not all fun and games. Some are based on health and wellness too.

  • Lotus has a team which encourages people to blog and share about health and wellness

  • While countries like the US suppress information regarding natural cures so that big pharma can keep making money, the Lotus team, has found a way to help us find information about natural cures (please be responsible and do your own research before trying anything you learn here, as all our bodies react differently to all medicines, natural and man-made)

  • Lotus encourages the community to burn tokens, by holding writing contests and burning tokens every time there is an entry

  • Yoga, mindfulness, breathing, calm parenting, can all be found here.

  • Investing in LOTUS goes beyond making money, it is an investment in community health.

  • The moderators, are nice, friendly, and encouraging.

  • There is a LOTUS Store where you can buy Astral Charts (I know you are all money people, but this is seriously cool!)

  • They have a cool logo

Screenshot 2020-06-23 at 3.53.55 AM.png
seriously, isn't that cool?

Again, I started writing this post fully expecting to cover 10 HIVE-Engine Tokens, but soon found that I had too much information and my post was much too long

As I myself a, guilty of glossing over words when there are too many of them, I decided to stick to five.

Come back next week to read about more tokens.

And, if there is a token that you think has great potential, an amazing team, a good profit margin, or is just plain fun to look at, share it in the comments. I will make sure to give it a second and third look and share it with our readers.

Thanks that’s an interesting list. I would’ve liked to see your thoughts on the PAL coin but looks like that’s for post number 2?

If you are interested in tokens that are backed by real world assets you should have a look at SUFB tokens.

They are backed by a legally enforceable right to the proceeds of litigation (a recognised intangible asset).

Specifically SUFB token holders will collectively share 25% of any damages award or settlement received by signed up claimants in the Crypto Class Action against Facebook, Google & Twitter's banning of Crypto Industry Ads.

So far around 450 people and companies have signed the litigation funding agreement which gives SUFB tokens their legal entitlement, with total claims of those signed up exceeding $650M.

To help people understand how this works an example is helpful.

If the case was to settle tomorrow with claimants receiving just 10% of their claim SUFB token holders would be entitled to 25% x 10% * $650M = $16.25M

As there are currently 630,000 SUFB tokens currently on issue that would mean each token was entitled to a payout of $25.79.

Lets say the case settles for 20% of claim value but only after the case is launched in Court with $10M backing it and all 18 million maximum tokens issued.

This would mean that $33M was allocated to 18M tokens meaning each token would be entitled to a payout of $1.83.

SUFB tokens are available for sale on Hive-Engine for 2 Hive.

@metzli- This sounds like a good one to review, interesting

SSUK

Here's a token I like !BEER

Hey @spinvest, here is a little bit of BEER from @teenagecrypto for you. Enjoy it!

Learn how to earn FREE BEER each day by staking your BEER.

A very good list. It is always interesting to see how others view the different projects out there.
