WWF Germany has sent the following email message to its supporters to raise funds to fight Amazon deforestation. Kindly support. If you can't support financially help spread the word:
"In the Amazon, it is getting drier and drier. More and more fires are deliberately being set in order to gain land, and more and more often these fires are spiraling out of control. More than 32,000 different fires were registered in September, which can even be seen from space.
At some point, the rainforest will partially self-destruct and turn the Amazon into a giant savannah. That is when there is so little left of him that it no longer rains sufficiently in the remaining forest. The consequences for our global climate, biodiversity and us human beings would be fatal."
