After the Cryptospace your digital lifestyle is not secured!

in LeoFinancelast year

Hello dear Hiveans! Hope all of you are in good health. Yesterday was surfing my Facebook and found one critical issue with the digital life we are accustomed to in online based lifestyle. One of the guys lost his total access to his personal laptop which is really pathetic and many of his personal files are in the hacker's hand. Moreover, he has gotten the ultimatum of 48 hours to pay a huge amount of money to get back his access. And he has many contacts with his emails to many clients and the social accounts are at the hacker's hands threatening him to publish some personal secrets publicly. Most of cases like in third-world countries like Bangladesh these hackers get access through the following ways-

  • With the pirated software activator as most of us can't afford the genuine one!

  • Through the unprotected wifi and network

  • With the cracked software for watching streaming services for free

  • Scamming and Phishing links with provoking ads of getting free money or gifts

  • The last one is from the free porn sites

From shopping to banking or from health issues to psychological issues and from entertainment to the sports like video games, we all are just living inside the internet. And in today's digital life, a tremendous amount of online activities have become an essential part of our lives. Whether we are shopping, banking, or socializing online, we need to ensure that our activities are safe and secure. With cyber threats constantly evolving, it is important to take measures to protect our online activities. Here I am going to outline the top safety measures that can protect from the such situation as follows.

  • Use Strong Passwords
One of the most critical safety measures is to use a unique and strong passwords for every important sites we use. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters, and avoid using easily guessable information like your name, date of birth, or phone number. Change your passwords regularly and use different passwords for different accounts.

  • Two-Factor Authentication
I think almost 70-80% of people in countries like Bangladesh don't know properly about the 2FA security level. They only know that their mobile will get a PIN number that's it. They never set a 2FA manually with some app like Google or 3rd party authenticator! But this Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts. This process requires a code to be entered in addition to your password, which is usually sent to your phone or email. This ensures that even if someone knows your password, they still cannot access your account.

  • Keeping the Software Up-to-Date
Hackers often target outdated software to gain access to your device or accounts. Ensure that your computer, mobile, and other devices are up-to-date with the latest security updates and patches. Also, keep your antivirus and anti-malware software updated to protect against new threats.

  • Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Most people use a free VPN which can be often suicidal as they can show some ads with many scamming links or phishing links! A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an encrypted connection that allows you to browse the internet anonymously. It protects your online activities from being monitored by hackers, governments, or other third parties. Use a VPN when using public Wi-Fi networks to protect your data from being intercepted.

  • Be Cautious with Emails
Phishing scams are a common way for hackers to gain access to your accounts. Be cautious when opening emails, especially from unknown sources. Do not click on suspicious links or download attachments from emails you are not expecting. If in doubt, contact the sender to confirm the email's legitimacy.

  • Check Your Privacy Settings
Social media platforms and other online services collect a lot of personal data about you. Check your privacy settings to ensure that your personal information is only shared with people or services you trust. Be aware of the privacy policies of the services you use and read them carefully.

  • Backup Your Data
Backing up your data ensures that you do not lose your important information in case of a data breach or device failure. Use a cloud-based backup service or an external hard drive to regularly back up your data.

  • Be Wary of Public Wi-Fi
Public Wi-Fi networks are often unsecured and can be easily intercepted by hackers. Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks for sensitive online activities like banking or shopping. If you must use public Wi-Fi, use a VPN to encrypt your data.

  • Enable Find My Device
Enable the "Find My Device" feature on your mobile, laptop, or tablet. This feature helps you locate your device if it is lost or stolen. You can also remotely wipe your device to protect your data if it falls into the wrong hands.

  • Educate Yourself
Lastly, educating yourself about online safety is the most important measure to keep you updated with new types of threats. Stay informed about new threats and trends in online security. Learn about the best practices to protect your online activities, and share your knowledge with family and friends.

Even I have lost my crypto funds several times and learned some lessons and now I am more serious about these measures. Protecting your online activities is crucial in today's digital lifestyle. By following these safety measures, you can ensure that your online activities remain secure and safe from cyber threats.

I hope you like some of these useful tips for protecting your digital life in online activities and inviting you to my upcoming blogs. And if you have any kinds of queries, you can ask me in the comments. I will try to answer at my level best.
