Trying To Hive Without Power: The Importance Of Showing Up No Matter What

in LeoFinance2 years ago

We often discuss commitment and what it takes to excel. There is something called "no excuses" in terms of excellence. It is a concept that can get pushed at times.

So how do we deal with times when getting involved with Hive is just "too difficult"?

This is what I am presently confronted with. As Hurricane Ian swept through the state of Florida, it left some carnage. Most notably power and Internet access were both wiped out. This is making life very difficult for obvious reasons.

However, when it comes to Hive, I find that balancing the battery life on phone and laptops, along with trying to find a signal is difficult. This is requiring some creativity and investigation. Thus far, this morning, I have gone through a couple plans. So far, there is limited success.

Business Are Affected But Not Stopping

One of my basic views is that my activity on Hive is considered a business. Like any other business owner, the most fundamental premise is to show up. This is what I am doing now.

Regardless of the circumstances, it is imperative to appear. This means doing whatever is necessary to get the connections needed. With Hive, posting content, engaging with others, and curation is some of the basic of what we do. Sadly, without being online, this was tough.

For this reason, perseverance is key. Yesterday, I was fortunate to get a couple videos up. However, as the power went down for a second day, it was the end of life, temporarily, as we know it. So much for taking things such as power for granted.

Now it is a struggle. They say adversity only makes us stronger. This is certainly trying times for many. Of course, I have to keep things in perspective. Many have it far worse. Anyone is SW Florida is probably not too concerned about what their voting power is on Hive.

Nevertheless, without catastrophic devastation, it is time to keep things as normal as possible.

For me, that means spending my time supporting and contributing to Hive.

Success Is Never An Easy Journey

The world does not stop simply because of personal difficulties. We all have "issues", regardless of where we are in life. That is life.

Cryptocurrency is more than just some coins or tokens in my wallet. It is a way of life. I firmly believe that this holds the path to freedom for hundreds of millions of people. If it were not, would the likes of Jamie Dimon fight against it so much? I do not believe so.

We often discuss the parallels between blockchain and cryptocurrency along with the Internet. I am sure there were many difficulties those people encountered. The bottom line is we have the technology we do thanks to the efforts of hundreds of thousands of people. They showed up each and to contribute. Some made a vast fortune while achieving great fame. Others are unknown to most of us. Nevertheless, they all had a part.

Hive is a community which means multitudes of people taking part. Some opt to do very little while others dive headfirst into Hive. I am more towards the latter end of the spectrum. So far, Hive is a central part of my life, something I am truly grateful for.

We know that success is not coming easy to this ecosystem. We are overlooked at every turn. To some, this is disheartening. However, for many, it only strengthens the resolve. When we look at some of the "household names" on Hive, they have that same attitude. Regardless of how long things take, they keep showing up. It is as if these people know that failure only comes from quitting. As long as one keeps pushing forward, there is no failure, only feedback.

The challenge ahead is pitting us against some powerful forces. There are governments, central banks, and major corporations who are threatened by what is taking place. Here is where we can expect major blowback from them. They are not going to sit idly while we obliterate trillions of dollars in power they presently wield.

Long Term Vision

Whatever is taking place, it is temporary. Things will be restored in due time. Unfortunately, it is not on the timeframe I would like. Nevertheless, this is nothing more than a blip on my radar screen. For now, do what I can and take advantage of the pockets where engagement is possible.

Cryptocurrency is not something that will appear overnight. There is still a lot of work to be done. Those who are coding have a great deal of infrastructure to still build. Web 3.0 is not going to develop itself.

This is another central focus. I realize we all have a part to play. If Hive is truly a leader down this path, then we have to show the resiliency that merits the top position. So far, Bitcoin weathered everything that was thrown at it. We must make Hive the same.

The big tests are still ahead of us. We have yet to see the major powers target this ecosystem. The incident with Justin Sun will be minor compared to the forces that can be unleashed. As Hive ascents in the impact it makes, it will garner more attention. The benefit of this is obvious. However, there is a downside.

So as I sit here at the public library, which has power but no Internet, connected through a hotspot on my phone that is being charged for the first time in 2 days, I am able to Hive. This is important to me and all of us. My firm belief is we all have a part to play, even if it does not seem that crucial. This is a numbers game and, by taking a day off, bad habits can develop.

Creating content and engaging daily is a habit. It is one that many of us foster. At times, we face disruption. However, hopefully that is short lived and we jump right back on the proverbial horse.

Over the next few days, things might be sporadic. That said, I will keep doing my best to step up and participate in the Hive journey.

We know Jamie Dimon, Mark Zuckerberg, and the rest of the power system are showing up. No matter what, we must match them.

So many reasons are there for it be doing personally that really matters in life and success comes from casting a positive and sustainable look at the roads ahead in life and the matters we have to deal with.

Sometimes occurrences like the outage of power and the resources sometimes inhibit us from doing what we do for finding the growth in life, but yet when we have passion for achieving what we believe - then obstacles just show us the way how to be stronger and thats ultimately whats good for life also.

So far, Hive is a central part of my life, something I am truly grateful for.

Likewise Task, am very grateful for Hive being part of my life.

So as I sit here at the public library, which has power but no Internet, connected through a hotspot on my phone that is being charged for the first time in 2 days, I am able to Hive.

That is the will to keep going, it is great that you are able to go on despite current situation in Florida, I watched a video clip of the disaster on Twitter, it looked disastrous. I hope things gets back to normal for you and the people of Florida soon.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Fortunately, I am on the other coast so I have that going for me. Still a bitch without power.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I truly like your dedication in regards towards HIVE. It kind of feels great to be back on HIVE.

Another thing to notice is, the more time one gives on Hive the more dedicated they become towards hive. After a certain amount of time it becomes a habit and slowly it becomes an addiction.

Well this would be one of the best addiction that I am currently having. I do kind hope many more get addicted to HIVE and build their structure in here.

Although, at this current moment or the upcoming months let's make it count in terms of preparing for the future. Transition of the world from web2 to web3 is indeed going to be exhausting. As many would fear that change but I suppose this change is evitable. It will happen probably not anytime soon but it will happen for sure....

I agree with all you wrote. It is a positive addiction in my opinion because we are making a difference. The idea of community is very powerful and vital going forward. For that to occur, we need people committed to engaging.

A lot is happening and I am going to do my part to try and help it along.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

stay safe out there man! don't risk your life to post on Hive :)))

Thanks. I am committed but not foolish.

The storm is gone, out to sea. Gearing up to hit the Carolinas next. So safety for us, is not a concern (the other coast isnt so fortunate).

Now it is getting things back in working order.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

glad to hear the nasty bit has passed

For us, yes. Now it is onto the Carolinas.

The weather is actually gorgeous now.

This is one of the nourishing posts I found here.
How not, even though you have limitations with the occurrence of electricity loss, you still make an effort to be able to continue to be involved here.

Your review is an invaluable encouragement for everyone to keep their engagement consistent. Especially for me, who is still a newbie here. I'm still a redfish that has to be heavily involved with all my limited resources. Those who have become popes are still involved, let alone us who are new, right?

I really get your encouragement here.
Thank you very much, Sir.

Cant let obstacles stand in the way. Tried to do the cryptomaniacs podcast earlier. There were major challenges but we tried.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Unless one makes the conscious decision to "march on" regardless of the challenge, any challenge that comes along will be considered a good enough excuse to "sit this one out". You have the right mindset!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Very true. It is easy to sit one out...then another...then another.

Have to keep going regardless.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Stay safe and prudent. Am sure the government os responding with aid and whatever solution needed right now. My heart goes to all the affected, may they recover from their pains and losses.

The areas hit hardest will likely get help.

But depending upon them can be misguided at times. Many found themselves screwed by FEMA and other entities.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I pray they do, it's never a good experience. I can imagine how people will become homeless due to such disaster.

It is easy to have happen. Flooding, fire, tornadoes...all part of hurricanes and can wipe out a house in an instant.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It is as if these people know that failure only comes from quitting.

Yup!

Having spent way too much of my own journey with limited internet connectivity and sometimes limited (or no) electricity... I have to say that the most frustrating part for me was, is (and has been) a lack of others understanding how difficult those two factors make doing damn near anything!

On a similar note, a cellular signal booster and at least one good high amp hour twelve volt battery to run it (and charge a phone) sure goes a heck of a long way!

I hope things get back on track there for you (and everyone else) soon. The recovery effort in good ole Florida after a hurricane always seems to start beach-side and work its way inland (towards the more impoverished areas) so depending on your location... you will be up and running in no time... or it will happen when it happens!

P.S. If you have not yet discovered 'Low power mode' on your phone now is the time to do so. Also dimming the screen, killing background apps, and turning off any unused radios like bluetooth, wifi or even the 4G one (if there is only a 3G or 2G signal) sure goes a long way towards preserving battery life.

Fortunately we go power back. Hopefully it stays on a while.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

So that's why you aren't as active as usual. I wish everything goes back to normal soon. Take care Task!! ❤️

Hurricanes can't stop us xD

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah had technical difficulties...please stand by.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Glad yr ok, my friend was unable to reach his parents that are down there for a couple days, but he heard back today 💜

Yeah depending upon where they are, things are a mess. I am not near the main path but the winds created a bunch of havoc.

Glad everyone is okay on your end.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We are all faced with challenges at some point and remaining active has to be a priority. Last night we had no power for over 10 hours but plans have to be made. Happy to see you up and running so quickly.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yeah have to work around the hindrances.

That is where commitment comes in. When one is dedicated, plan b and c start to roll out.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Reminds me of a story an old boss of mine used to tell. You may have the best excuse in the world. Your house burned down, blew away, dog died, whatever. But at the end of the day, when it comes to that raise, promotion or whatever, the guy who actually got the job done, wins. No excuse, no matter how good, is as good as getting it done.

Isnt that the truth?

Look at athletes. When it comes to the finals in any event, we remember who was in it and who won. Do we know the difficulties people had getting there? No. Nor do we know the ones who succumb to them and didnt make the finals.

At the end of the day, it doesnt matter. There are always challenges. Pull up the bootstraps and get passed them.

Stay safe and that number most important thing but hive is also important. We must all have this mentality that comes rain comes sunshine we will always do anything for hive

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We all have to keep plugging. That is for sure.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I feel this year so far has gone very slow. I wonder how you view the market and the crypto hype in decline. Do you think the crypto needs any other way to stay in hype and trendy in order to get back on prices and let blockchain get in business?

Bear markets are like this. It drifts from the mainstream focus. Development is still progressing, that is what is vital.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

A while back, I had a major power cut that lasted over two weeks, it was difficult to navigate the internet talkless of Hive. Stay safe, I guess everything will pass, even if you needed to show up everyday.

Yeah. My time in internet hell is short compared to some.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I hope things get better soon. I think it's a marathon and it's not a short run so missing out a bit on a few days won't hurt you too much.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

No it wont. Now that I am back online, I will have to spend the next week playing catch up. Time to put a lot of words on the blockchain.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We run into that challenge quite a lot, around here, in the winter. The combination of lots of tall trees, lots of wind and powerlines running through aforesaid makes for many power outages.

We usually end up doing the same thing as you; creating a "mobile hot spot" with one of the phones and connecting with a laptop. Even so, it gets tricky because we're on a peninsula and when the power drops EVERYthing goes dark, except the hospital and Safeway which have their own generators. You can always tell who the dedicated ones are because suddenly the Starbucks cafe at Safeway has 100 people with laptops in it!

Showing up matters. We each have to show up, within the paramaters that work for us.

=^..^=

Posted using Proof of Brain

I was at the local library yesterday. They had both internet and power. So it was a way to get some stuff done, albeit not to the usual level.

We do what we have to so that we can forge ahead.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

.

You can bet Dimon et al are showing up 60 to 80 hours a week at their jobs. We shouldn't slack.

Yep. And they have the advantage it is leveraged time because of their contacts and the wealth controlled by the others. That makes their hours magnified and more impactful.

We have to do the same by increasing the number of people we have on our side.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hope you are doing OK and that your off-chain life will soon return to normal.

Good luck getting it all back together again.

Thank you, @taskmaster4450, for the inspiration. It doesn't matter how things turn out; they may change not just on Hive but also in real life. All that matters is that we show up every day.
