It is no secret that there are many parts of the world where the money generated on Leofinance (and Hive) can go a long way. Even with the token price low, at least compared to where many of us believe it will head to, many are already seeing an impact.

Anyone who is on Leofinance for any length of time are aware of @coyotelation. He is from Brazil, an economy that is hit extremely hard by the COVID-19 response. Over the course of this year, he was able to push his account from 400 LEO to over 10,000.
As impressive as this is, we got this post a few days back.
In the month of October, his earnings from LEO came close to equaling two months wages in his country. Think about that for a second. His activity on Leofinance enabled him to match two months worth of employment at minimum wage.
Then we get a post that topped it. In fact, it really touched me reading the words. It is amazing how much of an impact we can have upon someone without even realizing it. There are a number of points worthy of note.
This morning I got up, prepared breakfast, turned on my computer and entered the Leofinance page, for what is my surprise my post had generated 60.26 Leo, hug my daughter with emotion, grateful to my brother who invited me to this platform, double happiness because today is your birthday.
We all know how exciting it is to get nice rewards on Leofinance or Hive. However, it evidently takes on different meaning when one is in Venezuela.
Then we see this nugget (bold mine):

Now think about it, how much thought did each of us put into that upvote. It was the click of a button, something we do hundreds times a day. Nevertheless for this individual, it was a life-changing realization.
I am not sure what "Each Product Food" means as a unit of measure but whatever it is, 10 is a lot. When one is making the equivalent of $1 a month, getting $20 in a single post is a very big deal.
This is the power of the platforms we are creating surrounding cryptocurrency. It is vital that we remember how difficult things are for many people in the world. While it might not be easy anywhere, there are certain areas of the world that are outright devastated financially.
We are building something great here. Even more exciting, we are already changing lives around the world.
The upvote economy is already taking shape.

This is a heartwarming story indeed.
One of the reasons why I love this platform, is exactly that:
how it enables us to change people's lives, with a simple but oh so important gesture. A couple of clicks and they have the coins in their wallet ( although they sometimes need to wait a week ).
I received a so called 'rune reading' ( done by the throwing of stones ) months ago by a Venezuelan hiver. When we discussed the price and I asked him what he thought it was worth, the amount felt way to low for me and I offered 4 times more. For me it wasn't that much money for him a huge amount. It felt awesome!

As for me, though I am not yet withdrawing the funds that I earned into fiat. I am grateful that I am receiving these extra rewards from you guys as this helps us in a way that in the future the LEO's/ HIVE that I accumulated will be used as a supplementary budget on my wife's pregnancy. It would be lovely if the delivery cost in the hospital would be covered by the earnings that I will get but any extra amount that I will earn matters.

Waiting for the right time to use my contacts as next year we are directly involved with the owner of one of the Premiership teams in England. This is not something you can just email about as it has to be in person over a few drinks. I have other contacts but haven't seen any of my former team mates for years and need to get those relationships back up and running first.

Need to talk things through with @patrickulrich first as I don't know what his plans are for sports. It would take some time getting the contacts back as they are dotted all over the globe, luckily many are still connected with major sports teams in coaching, managerial and administrative roles. Definitely, the impact is most felt by users who are from economically broken locations and low income earners. While I've shared my countless testimonies as to what I've achieved with LeoFinance and Hive earnings in generally, there are others around me whom I invited here that have paid their rents, purchased gadgets, and are taking care of their "family" from LEO and Hive earnings.
This is just the beginning,. More can be achieved. The personal testimonies I share here are very real and this is what I share to people out there to bring them here. Unemployment in Nigeria is in its insane highs and is the catalyst for the numerous youth unrest in the country.

I live with my mom and since early last year I resigned from a big company in the capital city in Indonesia to taking care of my mom.
How crazy I am until now I can live with money from the blockchain.
Now when the Hive price is getting lower, I made big decision to exchange my HIVE into Leo Power. I feel like I can not HODL HIVE so much without give me profit. Before power up to LEO POWER, my HIVE just HODL in an exchange.
Starting with 3 K LP, I hope I can make a little profit.
I want to power up again but my HIVE is low for now.
I have to think hard to withdraw per month for my mother.
I realized I still not often to make post on LEO. I have to make post more and more.

What I find somewhat fascinating and gratifying about this is the fact that were moving into the territory the "idealist" hopes of Dan Larimer touched on in the earliest days of Steem... this might not be what he had in mind, exactly... but four years later, we are making a difference in the lives of those who live in places where there are very few options.
Even for those of us who live in places with much higher costs of living, this still is a very nice "savings account!"

It's amazing to see what this platform can do to prevent poverty for some people.
It does make me think about the reasons why I'm doing this while I am and fishing in the same pool.
I do thought this was the whole idea behind crypto's in the beginning; Giving the whole world access to 'financial freedom'. Even if you don't have a bank account.
I remember a story from a book about bitcoin where a young female writer wasn't allowed to create a bank account in the country where she lived because females weren't allowed to work.
She published some writings and got earned in bitcoin.
I'll search for the title of the book if anyone is interested.

hahaha although it can literally change someone's life as we both know, it sounds like a too good to be true or pyramid scheme :P
I love that Hive enables people in low income places or those in deep poverty to earn extra, or even a full income. While I earn above average as a software developer, I know quite a few locals who would benefit from Hive. So we are trying to onboard them. The only problem in trying to convince them is that the country/banks doesn't really have a method to wire foreign currency into the country. Only one way outbound wire transfers are possible. We have criminals to thank for that.
So for now it's more of an investment in the future for those that have the extra time.
I really like reading these inspiring stories though. Restores some of my faith in humanity. :)
I know of the situation in Brazil and Venezuela and truth is it's even more worse in Nigeria and to some extent Leo has of course done good for me too. @coyotelation's content seems to always expose a lot and I'm quite stunned how opportunities are created for intangible skills as writing finance. Over the course of 6 months too I made the choice to start buying into leo and it's paid off really nicely

I think it is awesome that there is such an impact on a global level. The sad thing is it is pretty irrelevant for people who are living in the states or other first world countries. The money that is made via upvotes is pretty negligible. Hopefully one day that will be different.

I said: "You have the same here, right?" That's when she told us "today isn't my day to eat." Apparantly, due to the lack of income, they rotate feeding days. We were touched, but shocked into action. So I told the guys we had to help the family out and we donated what to us was potato chip money and some of the local currency we were going to buy tourist trinkets with.
The tears of joy and heartfelt thanks were something I will never forget. I was actually ashamed that we couldn't do more and that's where the difference in lifestyles comes in. We were told that they could live for a few months on what we gave them. It was a much better use than buying some trinket that would gather dust. Leo and cryptocurrency has the same effect that our extra funds had.
Now, through their own efforts, people like @coyotelation can empower themselves for a brighter future. I followed his fanbase and encourage you to do the same. A a busy, working student, I have very little free time and this helps me to support deserving members of Leo Nation. The pride always looks out for their own. Let's ROAR! :)

Hive has helped my pay for a lot of my PC that I'll be building as soon as the CPU comes into stock. Its not even post rewards that are the big earners(its probably my smallest part) but the fact that people want you to work and will pay in Hive.
