RE: How to Run Your Business Successfully (Part 1)

Hmm.... Interesting to think about.

A visionary leader is certainly important and I'm a numbers man. I always break things down to look at the numbers to see if things will work.

However, as you mentioned you can't do everything and that you must delegate to others. I think finding capable and honest others to work with you is a major thing. I've had two project that I've tried to get running. I had vision. I knew the numbers but trying to find others who could see the vision and work towards completing it was brutally difficult.

Just my quick thoughts.

Sort:

It is extremely difficult to find capable and honest hands who share in the vision. Many people want to use one’s vision or idea as a stepping stone, and as such, they treat it with utter disdain.

I once worked at a private school, doubling as both a housemaster and a class teacher. I knew I wanted more, but I still gave it my all. The almost three years I spent there were among the best in my career.

I learned and relearned, met new people, and developed both professional and managerial skills.

I believe that in any job, you learn something when you do it diligently not with the mindset that it’s just a shortterm job and you will be leaving in three months.
