I could be wrong because I don't know the technical aspect of things but my guess is we really can't be 100% sure all the time.

That's why I believe reputation is important in this scenario and that's also why I don't drift too far from Hive blockchain. We all know the guys that are building things here so I find it a lot easier to trust them than some "outsider".

    There are also certificates issued by companies like Certik that provide an additional layer of trust, but in my opinion, it all comes down to reputation.

    When more people complain about a crypto, blockchain, or exchange than praise it is when we know it's a stinker to be avoided. As @tfranzini noted, it boils down to reputation.
