This week LeoStrategy has a launched an interesting new token that is pegged to gold, TGLD. It is pegged at 1:100 to the SPDR Gold Shares ETF (GLD). They are offering some very nice rewards to those who buy in early as part of the presale, which is currently ongoing. It launched yesterday putting us not in day two of the presale. The sooner you buy in and stake on HE the better the rewards available.
As you can see in the table below when you purchase and stake the tokens you can earn a nice APR which is permanent as long as you leave you tokens staked. I have purchased some and staked them away to earn that great APR!
Alternatively you can purchase it on Base and provide liquidity for some very rich rewards. I'm not taking this route, but you only have the first 48 hours to take advantage. So time is running out!
Plus they are offering some social milestones to incentivize sales during the presale. You can earn free tokens as the presale progresses which is a pretty nice deal!
The advantage of having tokenized gold is you can invest smaller amounts and not have to hold the gold personally. That being said, that is also a disadvantage, because it you don't physically hold it you don't technically own it. Which is why as a gold and silver stacker I prefer to own my metals outright. However this is offering some very nice rewards that can provide some passive residual income to those who invest early.
Gold has had a great year, and there may be much more upside yet to come. That could make the shares of TGLD more valuable over time as well.

I think it's a great opportunity to try out a new concept here on Hive and have some exposure to gold. I recommend buying in early to maximize your potential earnings down the road. But always invest wisely, and never invest more than you can afford to lose! There is never any guarantee on any project in the defi world as we all know well.

It's been a few rough days with BTC, it may continue to erode prices of other crypto projects as well. Fortunately, Hive has been holding strong at just about $0.11. I was concerned we might be at sub ten cent Hive, but so far so good! I'm crossing my fingers!

I already own at least 10 units of SPDR GLD Gold Shares ETF undiluted and sparing myself a layer of counter-party. At $375 USD/unit, its not cheap getting in. So for me getting any more in this TGLD form will be redundant. An interesting ideal for those who like to get into GLD in this tokenized manner @thebighigg

So, I always wondered a few things about those pegged coins on Hive...
How is it pegged when the price is at 30 HIVE? Will it change every day? Every hour?
Is the Hive spent on buying then put in the Gold ETF?
How is the 12% APR paid if it's pegged, so it can't really move away from gold price?
I really have no clue how this pegging to other assets works on Hive. I've seen it a lot, or the claim, but was never able to connect the assets to their peg...
If I understand it's paid out on the price of the SPDR GLD fund in Swap.Hive. I could be mistaken though! The price is pegged to that fund.

Still fresh in my mind is the time that XAU/USD struggled to reach 2k.
This is supposed to be pegged to SPDR GLD fund which has performed well over time. The XAU?USD didn't really quite reach expectations, that's for sure!

I don't have good experiences with this community. I lost quite a few Cubs. On the other hand, this is the first tokenization of a physical thing (gold) on HE. I'll watch where it goes.

It's probably better now; these bridges are constantly evolving, but now there are other players in the game, too, so I'll watch first. That was too complicated, at least for me, but now these transfers between blockchains are easier, I think.
Well, at least as far as transport to Hive is concerned. I have already managed to transfer (a small part) of my BTC to the Ecency wallet. I will try the same thing in VSC or magi.eco now. Slowly but surely :)
