After 2 years since I have left Apple, I have been really working hard on trying to build up the projects that I am working on, but when you are building a community based project with no VC funding, it can be hard to pay the bills. I have been working on shifting focus more into content creation and trying to be a better marketer, but it's not happening as fast as I would have liked.
Such is life I suppose!
My Sob Story
I have to start building back a steady income, and lately the content hasn't been covering it, neither has the DEFI earnings. Since the UST crash, which wiped out allot of my DEFI farming engine, I have been struggling to keep my head above water. I know I wasn't the only one and I know friends that lost allot more than I did, so I have to take that into account.
My fall back for the last 2 years has been delivering food with GrubHub and occasionally some Doordash, but with gas prices in my area getting close to $6.00 a gallon, I am actually losing money every time I go out with my 7000 pound V8 beast of a van, lol.
Being that I am really just breaking even in my area driving, and then that is just accounting for the gas, not even repairs, or you know, my time, I am having to look to find other income sources. This is why I have been putting more of a focus back into trading. I know I can make money with some good trade setups, but I am starting back with a small amount of funds, so it will be a fun challenge to get the portfolio back up. But that isn't paying the bills...
Anyway, the fun time life is done for now and I am back on the job hunt. I was going through indeed.com, looking for random remote positions that I professionally qualify for, because with my situation, I have to have something remote. Anyway, I was talking with one of my colleagues and he reminded me of Pomp Crypto Jobs website.
Well I went searching there and there were actually a bunch of positions that I felt I qualified for. Being that I am a designer and Wordpress guy, and not a super coder, I felt like I wouldn't fit, but to my surprise I found and applied for 3 different opportunities.
The Email That Made My Day
Out of the several companies I have applied for, I have only gotten a couple of responses. These were just auto responses saying they have received my application.
One of these confirmation emails was from Exodus, yep, the wallet! They were looking for a remote customer support specialist, and being that is what I did for Apple for the last 4 of my 8 years, I felt it was one I needed to apply for. I had to answer some questions on my crypto knowledge and then had to do some mock support email situations. I felt they went pretty well. Anyway, I got the auto confirmation a couple of minutes after I submitted the application and resume. It was a Saturday when I submitted the application so I didn't think much after that and figured I would just check my emails for more responses on Monday.
Well a couple of hours go by and I get a mail notification and it was from a recruiter at Exodus! So now, I have a direct contact with their recruiting department! This was super exciting because even Apple didn't do anything like that, so off the bat, I was impressed. I immediately got on the phone with my old manager with Apple and got the go ahead to give them his Apple email address for a reference.
This morning I sent a reply email thanking them for reaching out. I gave them the old boss's email info and told them that I am persistent and that they will be hearing from me, lol.
The Stinging Feeling Of Defeat
I have been struggling with the job hunt just due to the fact that I feel like I have failed my businesses. But it has really taken my kids to pull me out of that funk and helped me realize hey, can't be ashamed for doing what I have done. I have already done more in this space than many people, but I need to live too. So to treat the job as a fiat income engine so I can keep stacking the crypto resources.
This doesn't mean that I am giving up on my businesses. Nope, this just means that I can actually pay my personal bills and living expenses without having to take out of any earnings that the business makes. I am tired of having to sell my Hive to pay bills, lol. The power downs were meant to be temporary, but have become necessary.
The cool thing, they pay 100% in BTC! This will be awesome because I will be able to build my collateral stacks at the same time! With BitRefill now allowing me to pay most of my bills through them, I am completely okay with getting paid solely in Bitcoin.
The starting salary is more than I was making at Apple, so I will have left over funds after expenses and child support, to put back into the businesses so they can grow! This will also give me some funds to help hire some social media managers for Hivelist and BlockTunes to help me manage that stuff.

So hopefully I can get an interview with the team because I have confidence that they will like me when they get to know me. It feel it is a great fit for me as I already have years of this kind of experience. And if I can get on with one of the biggest crypto companies in the world, because they are a public company at this point, then I will not feel so defeated. More like right on! My hard work the last 2 years has helped be land an awesome job! At least I am trying to stay confident and optimistic!
Anyway, that's life in the Dude's eyes right now... Now to get back to dealing with a Covid ridden family and trying to nail a good trade entry, lol.

I remember when exodus was posting here, they seem like really solid people, I so hope you get the job.
Man don’t feel like your businesses failed. You do amazing work here, we are basically building a new world from scratch it’s not easy. I think the seeds have been planted but these are like avocado trees that take a while to grow.
I was honestly getting tired of hive, feeling like nothing was growing or changing except the same 3 big projects, but after seeing the energy in pizza and hearing how you are doing POD and ebooks and NFTs and all that at hive lists and set up some really smart tokenomics, I suddenly feel re-energized! Man. Don’t give up.
Maybe working at Exodus will allow you to really get your personal businesses off the ground while helping them grow and evolve as well.
You are awesome man, I know we’ve never gotten to know each other, but just know that I really respect the work you’ve put in and the synergy you’ve worked to build up. I haven’t been reading many posts but I’ll try to stop by more.

Yeah I have been impressed with the fast response so far and the fact that they are now a solid publicly traded company, they have a solid foundation. Plus it’s still in blockchain so I can use my experience there and vice versa. The main thing g is I will be able to pay my bills and not have to keep powering down out of my stacks just to pay bills, lol. I will actually be able to keep stacking and growing the funds to help market Hivelist and BlockTunes primarily.
I am claiming the job is mine. You know all that law of attraction stuff, lol.

Yeah, you are right. Thanks for the support! We are early. I have been just feeling a bit defeated but this whole Exodus thing is bringing some new life around. Just finished the assessment test so waiting on my first interview.

Terra was a learning lesson for a lot of us, but I still think this "bear market" is just a temporary lull in a much greater bull market
