Have you always wanted to ask me something?
Now is your chance, there won't be another!
(ok, ok, there will)

Hit me up in the comment section with a question and I will do my best to answer it. I post a new AMA post every 2 months or so.

What is an AMA?

AMA is a format popular on Reddit where one person offers to answer questions for a limited period of time.

How long will I answer questions?

I will usually answer them pretty quickly, and I should be around for a few hours. I will continue to answer them as they come in.

What type of questions can you ask?

I'm open to pretty much anything but my interest fall in the following categories:

  • Hive
  • Hive Witness
  • Crypto
  • Gaming (Video & Board)
  • Saving my team in Hunt: Showdown
  • Ape Mining Club
  • Photography
  • Development
  • Technology
  • Productivity
  • Movies & TV
  • Comedy
  • Memes
  • Waiting for GPUs to come in stock

Don't feel limited to the above categories, just things I generally know about.

Is there room for new hive blogging front-ends considering the current options available?

Always, especially if they have something unique or help onboarding.

Thanks for the answer, man. Have a good one.

What'd the chickpea say to the humus when asked on a date?

Not while I'm peeing?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

"I falafel."

What's the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?

What are your thoughts on dcrops?

I don't really have any as I haven't really looked into it. I skimmed it briefly when I first heard of it, but never got around to looking further.

Hey, after the splinterland success, do u see Hive more of a gaming platform ?

Not until we have native smart contracts and a larger user base. Even then, content creation will still be the core of the platform.

I've been talking to some people who feel that long-form blogging is a minority interest. There have been some attempts at short-form, i.e. Twitter/Insta-like, but it seems some of the community are not keen on seeing that get rewarded well. I don't think we should try to exclude any particular sort of content as we need to be inclusive and short-form does really well elsewhere. Of course there will be differences of opinion on what it's worth, but it should be up to the community to decide that.

So do you think Hive can become an attractive place for the 'yoof' market with their short attention spans? Not that I have anything against young people. I used to be one :)

There are communities for short form like dbuzz. I think there will always be an issue with short form content because they typically won't get short form rewards. The only way to prevent long form rewards on short form content hurts curators as there is no effective way to prevent losing a big portion of your curation rewards without just not voting posts that use the feature to limit rewards.

While Reddit does really well with short form content like link sharing, there will be a lot of drama and frustration when popular people get more rewards for posting a link or just leaving a meme than people spending hours on their content.

There is an option to build something based on Custom JSON which opts out of the reward pool all together, but would require a custom application to be built to support it. You could even tack on a token to support it, but without voting, it kind of loses any utility and would likely have almost no value. I have considered a few ideas but it's a lot of work to build and the last time I built something like that (using open source Mastadon project) there wasn't a lot of interest.

In short, I don't know of a way to make it work without people getting upset.

On another note, I can't seem to find your comment on LeoFinance under my replies, but I don't see you are banned from Leo either. Makes no sense, must be another glitch.

We know that rewards are not necessarily related to the effort that goes into a post as it can depend more on who you know. Some people will get good auto-votes regardless, but many of them will try to keep their standards up anyway. I have a bigger issue with people who try to game the rewards with low effort posts.

It would get interesting if someone like a Kardashian joined up and started getting $100s for a selfie. Certain people could wipe that out, but should they? As it is some people do really well here with no real profile elsewhere, but if Hive got to millions of users things would probably shift. I am pretty happy with how I've done so far, but I'm no Billy Eilish (in so many ways).

I'm responding using peakd. I don't tend to use LeoFinance.

I'm responding using peakd. I don't tend to use LeoFinance.

Doesn't matter, it should show up on LeoFinance as the post is on Leo.

Due to your very hypocritical downvote-crusade against some accounts, which you maybe want to continue forever, you get some downvotes back. Best regards.

agree!

Let’s say someone wants to crash 💥 into Hive / Hive-Engine development and is eager to invest to required time and effort. What‘s the roadmap, where to start, which DEV tools / editors and frameworks, what’s critical base knowledge?

I would first choose Javascript or Python.
Download VS Code, follow my VS Code tutorials or any others.
Learn the basics of JS or Python, lots of free resources.

Then think of a small project to work on, you will learn 100x more just doing something than doing tutorials forever.

Would you be launching more games soon?

Will you be creating a post as a guide for Hive and HBD conversion?

Would you be launching more games soon?

I have two other small games I have been planning on, one has already been started. I am not sure if I will release them both or either. Ultimately I want to build something bigger on a Splinterlands scale.

Will you be creating a post as a guide for Hive and HBD conversion?

I may, haven't thought of it, but I may if people are still having a hard time understanding it.

I may, haven't thought of it, but I may if people are still having a hard time understanding it.

Please do when you got the time and thank you. I've read posts explaining it and got the general idea of use and when to convert but then I'd go back to these posts to be sure if I understood whenever I see the market prices swing.

What do you think of Anime?

Indifferent. I prefer live action, but I will watch anime on if they are of interest. For example Cowboy Bebop as it has a lot of similarities to my favorite show Firefly.

I recently watched Dragon's Dogma as it is based on a game I like.

I don't go around looking for new Anime, but if I see something I like, I will certainly watch it.

I will likely watch Nightmare of the Wolf soon as it is part of the The Witcher universe.

How stable do you think HBD can be? Do you think it's currently doing well for a stable coin?

I think anything more than $1.01 is not a stable coin and greatly impacts it's ability to be used as one.

I used to think the point of HBD was for commerce, and even 5% fluxiation has a huge impact on a business's bottom line when they work with 10-20% margins, but I don't really see HBD being used for commerce much at all and it's more similar to how other stable coins are used.

I do not believe it is stable at this point, but it is a lot better than it used to be and there is a lot more pressure to bring it down to $1, something we haven't had in the past.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Well thanks for that clarification, I use to this 0.99 to 1.20$ could be counted as just right or okay.
I guess it'll take time to actually get there. Thanks for the reply.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hi Sir, How are you doing?
What it really takes for a Token Price become stable? We see constant fall in LEO and POB token price, how could it achieve stability. Do you think Leo and POB be equal to 1 Hive someday?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

What it really takes for a Token Price become stable?

Demand, this is usually the result of a use case or just primative fomo.

We see constant fall in LEO and POB token price, how could it achieve stability.

One of the big reasons is the price of Hive going up forces Hive Engine tokens to go down unless they have a lot of buy pressure for some other reason to keep up with the Hive price.

The main reason that won't be a popular opinion, but nevertheless is a big factor is the buy pressure cannot keep up with the sell pressure. Unless you stake LEO/POB to get more voting power, the only use case of LEO and POB is to sell it to take profits. Just like on Hive, most people tend to sell tokens to cash out, this pushes the price of a token downward unless there are more people buying the token.

More use cases creates more demand to buy a token, if that buy pressure is higher than the sell pressure to take profits, then the price will go up, if they are roughly equal the price will stay around the same.

Do you think Leo and POB be equal to 1 Hive someday?

Someday, maybe, but could be for any number of reasons. I firmly believe anyone who tells you what they think the price of a token will be in the future is generally full of shit.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

These are really nice points to consider. I will share it in POB Community. Thank you and Have a good day 😊🙏. !PIZZA

Inspite of having APR better than even #pob why is #cine token not so popular on hive ? What can be done to increase engagement on #cine?

It all comes down to what people want to write about and what they think is more valuable, it doesn't always line up with reality.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

What efforts can be made to promote this community? I personally would like to see this community to grow

We have a $100k+ marketing proposal funded that is suppose to do that.

With such a large holding of hive and hive-engine tokens, what steps do you take to avoid being hacked?

I don't be stupid. Being hacked is largely the result of stupidity or ignorance.

I use a cold wallet which is rarely ever logged into, which is the only place I typically keep liquid funds, I never use my owner key, and I don't click links I don't trust.

When APE Mining Club update?

Update for what?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

When Quantum?

Not for a while, I will update the other pools to run at 100% before I introduce Quantum. I think I will give it more time before introducing either.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I am not sure if you published a roadmap for Apeminng, how about publishing one?

How APE tokenomics is sustainable?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I do not have a roadmap right now, just the introduction post.

The only thing publicly on the roadmap right now is increasing the pool rewards to the full emission (currently running at half) and introducing the Quantum pool.

What was your first reaction when the price of hive rose to over a doller last week and what do you think was the cause? Do you think it will rise further or even more anytime soon after it dropped a few days ago?

  1. Whats the easiest and safest way for Americans to buy/swap HIVE (preferably without kyc) and get it into the keychain wallet?
  2. Do you play any crypto games regularly and/or could you make an unprofessional prediction which ones actually have a long-term future and could pay out as a side hustle? And why?

So far I've tried out Splinterlands, Cryptobrewmaster, Rising Star, and SoRare - I might try Rabona if I can figure out how to buy 7 HIVE. Now I'm testing Gods Unchained, while keeping Monsta Infinite on my watch list. I played around with Upland as well but I just can't wrap my head around the metaverse meta with massive investments required to own digital land in a video game so you can....um not exactly sure. I predict a TCG or Pokemon-like battle game based on NFTs to be a sucessful model for the future myself.

I would say make some good content then no need at all to worry about kyc or for that matter buying.

Whats the easiest and safest way for Americans to buy/swap HIVE (preferably without kyc) and get it into the keychain wallet?

Bittrex is usually what I recommend, there are really many options for avoiding KYC, it will be everywhere eventually.

Do you play any crypto games regularly and/or could you make an unprofessional prediction which ones actually have a long-term future and could pay out as a side hustle? And why?

No I really don't. I invested a lot into Splinterlands and Gods Unchained but I don't play.

A report from @interpretation states that #stem has outperformed other hive front-ends and #cine has underperformed on alexa rankings. I have read the reasons of #stem going up in prices due to the new coin and others as well, but what are the reasons for #cine underperforming. I am really concerned as the investor in #cine.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

#cine is fine, it just needs more users. Also his report is incorrect.

Not sure how you concluded the report is wrong, but the numbers in the report are very much in-line with the current alexa rankings. This is quite alarming and that is the reason I wanted to understand what is wrong with #cine.

image.png

Is it good to hold the tokens ?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Not sure how you concluded the report is wrong

Sorry it was my mistake, I read the chart wrong with the lack of commas in one column I miscounted the digits on quick look at it.

There is nothing wrong with Cine, it is one of the newest tribes and hasn't had time to get it's Alexa ranking up, but I highly doubt it ever will unless it onboards new users as most users post on Cine without using the front end. STEM & LEO have a penalty for not using the front end which encourages people to use it. Cine does not. Doesn't mean anything is wrong with the distribution, just the front end isn't as actively use, but I a custom front end is being worked on. Not convinced that will change this fact though.

My report is not in-correct. Please let me know what is wrong with my report. I have been tracking the progress of all the hive front ends since last few months. Can you please tell me what has gone wrong exactly ? The ranks change every day. You are checking it for today on alexa and you are seeing my 13 days old report. How would the ranks match ?

I am a newbie here on hive and my question would be what advice would you give to me and what did you wish you did differently when you started?

I am a newbie here on hive and my question would be what advice would you give to me

I would recommend networking and getting to know people as much as possible. Find something that interests you and write about that. Maybe find a community that interests you as well.

what did you wish you did differently when you started?

Bought more when Hive was near $0.10.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Bought more when Hive was near $0.10.

In a couple of years, this be like, "bought more Hive when it was at $1." :)

Thank you so much, I would take this advice to heart.

Do you think we will see some "social dapp" for hive in the next time that rocks?

Something the user experience doesn't suck?

I don't see it soon. You?

Hopefully, but hard to say.
I really love PeakD myself, and I hear there are some big improvements coming.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We need something "retard friendly".

For generation " lost password". I think keychain can be the tool for that. The ultimate tool.

But IMO people need a way to use hive without ever need to touch a key.

And that's not so easy in terms of "lost device".

so they can use their 123456 passwords for keychain, because do we really think they use a better one?

Other than finance and gaming, do you see other applications for blockchain technology that will impact our lives in a big way?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Blockchain will be used for ID and licensing. Countries like South Korea has already started this.

I believe blockchain would be ideal for election voting.

Governments are looking to blockchain and how it can solve their debt issues.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You mentioned you use a cold wallet to store your liquid HIVE and HIVE-Engine funds. Where might I be able to find a cold wallet with HIVE compatibility?

Posted using Dapplr

A cold wallet is as simple as another account you send funds to that you rarely ever log into. Sending funds to it never requires logging, and if you keep enough funds on your main account you rarely need to log into the cold account.

Hi. You probably don't remember me from the when I had my contest in steemit. Your whalebot was so helpful back then. I attempted a post where I tried to create a useful how to for the bots I'd spend the day looking into. Though research isn't my strong suit. Any pointers on where to go for that kinda research. I'm not a technical guy, I'm the know enough to make use of something person.

You mean vote bots?

No. Like !PIZZA !BEER and !LUV . Even though I thought I had them figured out. I've been struggling to get them under use. Honestly I should've given myself more time. I know the leaders of those communities are busy.

I don’t think there is a single place to find them, people who create them write a post announcing them and people start to use them.

Thanks @themarkymark,

Lately, Hive seems to be so stable with price varies around $0.7 to $0.9. Which is a happy sight. Was it a planned pump or Hive as a token started to get some recognition from outside traders.?

I can only guess, I have no clue what the real reason is. I believe a big factor is the buy pressure being placed on HBD has been pushed to Hive due to the HBD conversion.

Anyway, the pump really making all Hive user happy....might help in user retention as well...thanks for all the effort and support in making Hive a better place.......hat's off dear ....🙏

What's your favourite genre of music?

I don't really have one, I listen to a wide variety of music from Nine Inch Nails, Eminem, Jason Mraz, Kenny Chesney, and Mumford & Sons. I generally don't like country though

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Somehow, I don't know any one of them. for me I like jazz music, Rnb, but some how don't listen to music often.. Hmm I can ask one than one question right?... In that case, what do you for fun when not doing anything STEM like?..

In that case, what do you for fun when not doing anything STEM like?

Hanging out with my wife and son, playing video games, playing board games with the friends, swimming in our pool, not working for anyone.

In your opinion, could ammasing large amount of HBD during bull market be possible attack vector on Hive by converting in for cheap $HIVE during bear market? Do you see raising HBD limit as a potential threat to the network?

Setting the haircut too high could potentially be an issue, and that's why any changes to the debt ratio will be done with a lot of consideration.

That being said, I don't think the current 10% is too high, nor do I think 20% is.

How are WORKERBEE produced what is there total limit if any? Any documentation if you can point me, on WORKERBEE other than that it is used to mine bee token. I have tried discord now I am bugging top rep hive users about it, so far I just got vague details that it is used to farm bee tokens.

I don't know much about WORKERBEE except that it is the miner token for the BEE token so you can earn BEE passively.

It takes around 10.5 years to break-even buying WORKERBEE right now.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

My intrest seems to be fading away a little now, but do you have any idea where I might get more info about it?

I do not, but it is really simple, you stake WORKERBEE you get BEE, not much else to it.

I spent the day looking the different tokens I'd received through my blogging. So I'm curious your thoughts on them.

I think some of them are interesting and have value, a good many don't. Finding which is which is the challenge.

Hi, @themarkymark

Thank you for this.
How many developer hours does it take to take open source project on Ethereum and transfer it to Binance?

How do you find developers who can do this work?

Where or how do you find out what the usual rate is for this work?

How do you have the finished product inspected for errors or exploits?

Thank you.

Leo Finance is a tribe (community with it's own token). In this, it has it's own reward pool where you get LEO token rewards for posting and curating similar to Hive and in addition to Hive rewards.

There are a lot of tribes on Hive Engine, Leo Finance, STEMGeeks, Proof of Brain, and so on.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Hive Engine is a third party (@aggroed inc) project that has pseudo smart contracts as a bolt-on solution.

Hive Engine supports erc20 like tokens, NFTs, and rewards pools as well as a few other things. Many projects use this functionality for their projects.

Tribes is a solution provided by Hive Engine which allows users to have their own community and token with the technical aspects mostly managed by Hive Engine.
