Today I am going to let you in on how my mind works a little bit.
This was me yesterday:
ME: What blockchain is NBA Topshot actually running on?
THE NET: FLOW blockchain
ME: Hmm, is NBA the only thing being developed on this blockchain?
THE NET: Nope
ME: Ok, great, what else is there?
THE NET: Ben Mauro's Evolution NFT's card collection will drop tomorrow (today in current time)
ME: Ben who?
THE NET: Ben Mauro is a senior concept designer and art director for the past 12+ years in the game and film industry on projects such as Call of Duty, Halo, Metal Gear Solid (film), ELYSIUM, Chappie, The Hobbit Trilogy, Valerian, Mortal Engines, The Amazing Spiderman 2, Man of Steel among many others. He enjoy creating worlds and universes from the ground up and bringing new stories to life in many different mediums.
ME: That sounds like a very legit artist, so what is he bringing to the market today?
THE NET: The EVOLUTION series represents both the evolution of the creatures as well as my own evolution as an artist. This project has been 10 years in the making, with some of the creatures such as the ‘Thor’ card dating back to 2011. I’m excited to announce my first limited edition collectible drop on VIV3! It is a trading card series called EVOLUTION consisting of 21 original cards, it will be sold in three tiered packs: Common, Rare and Legendary.
The 21 cards will be split into each of the following tiers:
Legendary cards: 4 - 200 packs
Rare cards: 6 - 400 packs
Common cards: 11 - 4184 packs
The inspiration is sort of a combination of my love for trading card games like Pokemon, traditional collectible NBA sports cards and my experiences creating detailed fantastical creatures, characters and aliens for AAA movies and games. The end result is a really cool series of designs ranging from primates on earth to a variety of different alien species that might evolve and exist throughout the universe. I'm very excited to see how the community reacts to the project. The first series would be minted once and never again. It would be interesting to explore future series and expansions that might make 'series one' NFTs even rarer collectible items over time.
The drop is happening on VIV3, on March 3rd at 3pm GMT/UTC (7am PST).
ME: Wow, this sounds great, NFT's are super hot right now (and although most likely only 5% will succeed) this actually has a shot of succeeding. A solid name, beautiful art, very limited and a series, something true collectors love because they can collect the whole set. What are these packs going to cost?
THE NET
ME: That sounds reasonable, only 9 FLOW... Little did I know 1 FLOW costs around 30$, putting the cheapest pack at 270$, the rare pack at 870$ and the legendary pack at 2640$. Surely you must be able to pay with other cryptos or fiat right? Nope, the answer is only FLOW for this drop and in a way this is genius, but also tricky, because of after this drop the price of FLOW might drop (see what I did there). However, there is lots of stuff being build on FLOW that I am not too concerned that the price will not recover in the future if it drops. Besides that, they might do similars FLOW only drops and Ben told me yesterday on Discord that his art will be sellable on Opensea soon.
CONCLUSION
I got my hands on some FLOW and I am ready to preorder as soon as registration opens today. The process goes as follows: as soon as the pre-order system opens you can order two packs of the same rarity at the same time. My budget is limited, so I will most likely go for two rare packs and if that does not work, hopefully two common packs. Be aware that your FLOW coins have to be in your Viv3 account before the pre-ordering is opened to be able to participate.
This is the first limited NFT drop on a hot-and-happening blockchain with their own NFT market by a well known artist. I think this could be huge. Some of his previous works have sold for 9k, but I have a feeling this is only the start for him and things could heat up quickly. You can buy FLOW at Kraken and Huobi.

I have been back and forth about investing in FLOW the last couple days. I figure I should get some now because a lot of people don't have KRAKEN accounts and once it gets listed other places more people will buy it up and also if a lot of these NFTs can only be purchased with FLOW the demand should be there.
Yeah, exactly, US citizens have a hard time buying flow, but like you say this is going to be listed on many more cex. And if you don't want to buy the art, just follow the drops and sell your FLOW right before and buy back after lol.
