As always, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this month's Hive Power Up Day, either through powering up, posting, offering prizes, or spreading the word. As I said on @hivebuzz's feedback post...
Last month, I thought for sure we would break records with the power up amounts (thanks to the timing of the HBD price soaring) but while there was lots of excitement and loads of power ups, the numbers were actually a bit lower than I expected. However, I think it was due more to not having one or two big power ups from larger accounts, as we definitely had more HivePUD posts than the month before.
I mention this because I get the feeling it's going to happen again this month. I've seen lots of activity on Twitter & the blockchain with the HivePUD & HPUD tags, but I think the overall amount might not be as big as in month's past. Which doesn't change the fact that today was a super fantabulous Power Up Day! I've seen many faces (both new and old) taking part, and I think all the chatter about investing into our blockchain is far more valuable than what the actual number turns out to be!
Thanks to everyone who participated in whatever way (big or small) to make this day such an awesome success! And special thanks to the HiveBuzz team for BEEing such an amazing buzz-maker!
So, turns out I was right - while the excitement was high, the participation was a bit lower than last month, but it was still an overall excellent turnout. Here's how it all shook out...
We had 66 qualifying entries for the prize pool (compared to 70 in February, and almost an even split with the non-qualifying entries, which clocked in at 65!) and 142 posts with either the #HivePUD or #HPUD tags on the first (up a smidge from last month's 139).
As for the overall number, the power ups ranged from 0.003 to 5000 Hive Power, for a grand total of...
40,236.090 Hive Powered Up!
By comparison, February's total was 47,973.046. While yes, it's a bit lower, I still think that number is wicked...
And I know I say it every month, but I'm so appreciative that I have to keep saying it, thank you to @jeanlucsr for bringing the idea to the @hivebuzz team, who then ran with it and made the Hive Power Up Day Badges such a buzz-inducing part of power up day! Every time I think they've outdone themselves, they turn around and do something even more amazing - like, awarding delegations to Power Up Day participants!
And I can say that because even though I was recently added to the team (thanks again for the honor, @arcange), all of that was done before I started contributing a bit to the HiveBuzz Hive Tour Project. Wait, what do you mean you don't know what that is? Go check it out now (click the "Tour" tab on the Hive Buzz Board site), because it's a total game changer when it comes to onboarding & educating new Hive community members. And to the team, for all you do not only for Power Up Day, but for the blockchain in general...

In keeping with how @streetstyle ran this, here is the UNOFFICIAL winners list for March 1st. If you spot any errors, or your powerup/post was somehow overlooked, please shout out as soon as possible.
On March 5th, I'll post the OFFICIAL written-in-stone list, and at that time the sponsors can award their prizes (the complete list is in the announcement post, and I'll include it again in the Official Winners post tomorrow).

Yes, and I think that number is probably close to what the community in general has been doing over the months, but we had some big whale power ups at the end of last/beginning of this year, which made the overall number so much bigger. In fact, I might try charting the numbers to see how each month looks with & without the mega boosts - might be something interesting to check out when my "temporary management" hits the one year mark in a couple months! 😂

When I closed out my Steem account I used my Steem to buy ETH, when it was under 180. I traded one ETH for Hive, bought a few Hive Engine tokens and powered up the rest. I figured I got a nice payoff for the work I did on Steem-I still have a couple ETH left!

Personally, I find the more than 100 HP rule a bit lame? Why? Take a look at this example.
I powered up my son's account with 50 + 50 Hive. It went from 42 to 142. 238%
If I would read the rules thoroughly I could power it up to 100 before March the 1st, then power up the rest and get the rise of 42% - rank 5.
I didn't check the rules and @niko.lemark doesn't qualify. Except the end effect didn't change. He now has 142 HP in any way.
I told you it's personal :)
Well, before I took over, the minimum power up was 300HP, so... 🤷♀️

Ah, I didn't notice it was only for certain HP levels.
Yep, the prize pool started waaay back in the day as a way to encourage smaller accounts to stake their coins. I love that there are so many people who have "aged" off the qualified list, but still power up, post & tweet about Power Up Day. It's one of the bazillion reasons I adore this community!
