Job Hunt Setbacks

After recently joining the ranks of the unemployed, I have been exploring different ways to generate income and gain work experience. One option I have been considering is registering with temp agencies, which offer various job opportunities for temporary positions. This could provide me with the flexibility to choose assignments that align with my interests and schedule. Additionally, I have been intrigued by the idea of working in food delivery services, such as Uber Eats or DoorDash. This industry has seen growth in recent years, and I am curious to explore the ins and outs of this line of work.

One setback I encountered during my registration process with temp agencies was website issues that delayed my registration with the first agency. As a result, I had to go back the next morning to complete the process. There was a job listing that interested me. But it turns out that the property is industrial and includes maintaining machines. I don't have that kind of experience. The rest of the jobs pay significantly less. I set my threshold at $16/hour to get job offers. This will weed out a bunch of jobs. If things get desperate, I may need to lower the threshold.

Another setback I discovered yesterday was that the second temp agency closed down their local office. My only option is to register online and hope they have jobs in my area. I'll do that today. I'm figuring out a workflow to make applying for jobs faster and more efficient.

The third setback on my plan is that I discovered that DoorDash is not taking more drivers in my area at this time. There is a wait list. Also, Uber Eats will not accept scooters above 50 cc engines. Mine is 150 cc. The remaining possibility is Instacart. I'll sign up for that later today. I am thinking of setting up my own delivery service. A few dollars here and there adds up, eventually.

Despite all of that, I haven't personally started looking for a job. I have been mostly, as described, setting myself up to outsource some of the job hunt. And after I register with the second temp agency online, I'll turn my focus on targeting individual job postings.

In conclusion, while my job hunt has faced some setbacks, such as website issues with temp agencies and limited opportunities in certain delivery services, I remain determined to explore various avenues for generating income and gaining new work experience. I have set my threshold for job offers and am working on streamlining my application process to increase efficiency. Although I have yet to personally start actively searching for a job, I am confident that with perseverance and a targeted approach to individual job postings, I will find something suitable.
