Gestern hat die Ethereum-Blockchain einen neuen CryptoKitties-Moment erlebt. Der Launch des neuen Uniswap-Tokens UNI hat Ethereum fast lahmgelegt und die Transaktionskosten auf neue Rekordwerte in die Höhe getrieben.
Der Gaspreis schoss kurzzeitig auf über 650 gwei in die Höhe, ist aber mittlerweile wieder auf durchschnittlich 192 gwei zurückgegangen.
Benutzer von Uniswap können pro ETH-Adresse 400 UNI claimen, die zum Zeitpunkt des Launches unglaubliche $1400 wert waren. UNI ist eine Art Governance/Liquidity-Token, den man als Incentive bekommt, wenn man Uniswap verwendet hat bzw. in Zukunft Lquidity zur Verfügung stellt.
Lquidity-Token sind so ähnlich als würde man einen virtuellen Treuepunkt in einem Geschäft bekommen, wenn man in einem Geschäft etwas gekauft hat.
Der tatsächliche Wert und Nutzen dieser Liquidity/Governance-Token ist allerdings noch unklar und der Preis wird im Moment hauptsächlich durch Spekulation getrieben.
Was meint ihr zu UNI und den zahlreichen DeFi-Tokens? Wird der hohe Gaspreis die meisten DeFi-Anwendungen wie Makersplace auf Ethereum beinahe verunmöglichen? Wer möchte schon $50 und mehr Dollar für das Tokenisieren eines NFT-Kunstwerks zahlen?

Yesterday the Ethereum blockchain experienced a new CryptoKitties moment. The launch of the new UNI Uniswap token almost clogged the Ethereum network and drove up transaction costs to new record levels.
The gas price shot up to over 650 gwei for a short time, but has since fallen back to an average of 192 gwei.
Users of Uniswap can claim 400 UNI per ETH address, which was worth an incredible $1400 at the time of the launch. UNI is a kind of governance/liquidity token, which you get as an incentive, if you used Uniswap or provide Lquidity in the future.
Lquidity tokens are similar to a virtual loyalty points you get when you buy something in a store.
However, the actual value and use of these liquidity/governance tokens is still unclear and the price is currently driven mainly by speculation.
What do you think about UNI and the numerous DeFi tokens? Will the high gas price make most DeFi applications like Makersplace on Ethereum almost impossible? Who wants to pay $50 or more dollars to tokenize an NFT artwork?
