"Wallet linking failed": Der Brave Browser erlaubt es nicht, die eigene Uphold-Wallet auf mehr als 4 Geräten zu verwenden, WTF!
Wenn ich einen neuen PC aufsetze, ist einer der ersten Schritte, die ich mache, mir den Brave Browser zu installieren.
Warum Brave? Erstens weil ich selber früher Ad-Blocker-Developer war und mir das Konzept dahinter gefällt und zweitens, weil der Browser wirklich gut ist.
Allerdings hat Brave eine ziemlich dumme Einschränkung, wie ich gerade feststellen musste und zwar lässt sich die BAT Rewards Wallet nicht auf mehr als 4 Geräten mit der eigenen Uphold-Wallet verifizieren.
Und diese 4 Geräte lassen sich auch nicht verwalten, sondern es ist eine "Lifetime"-Begrenzung. Das heißt, auch wenn man Brave wieder deinstalliert, lassen sich nicht mehr als 4 Installationen mit der Uphold-Wallet verbinden.

At this time, the maximum number of Brave Rewards wallet instances you may verify or link to an Uphold account (or other custodian account) account is 4. This is a lifetime cap, which means that each connection counts toward your maximum even if a Brave installation has since been disconnected from the custodial account or uninstalled. [1]
Diese Einschränkung ist total absurd und hat mit der Krypto-Philosophie nichts mehr zu tun. Das wäre ungefähr so, als würde man Hive Keychain nur maximal 4 mal installieren und mit dem eigenen Hive-Account verbinden dürfen.
4 Geräte sind auch schnell aufgebraucht, wenn man bedenkt, dass man mittlerweile Brave auch mobil installieren und mit Uphold verbinden kann.
Das hat aber bei mir nie geklappt. Vielleicht weil ich das Limit schon unbemerkt überschritten habe.
Die Brave Ads habe ich mittlerweile übrigens deaktiviert, also an den Rewards kann es nicht liegen.
Was sagt ihr zu dieser künstlichen Einschränkung?
ps. in der Vergangenheit hat mir Brave auch schon des Öfteren meine Rewards nach einem Update wieder auf 0 zurückgesetzt. Daher macht es Sinn den Browser mit der Uphold Wallet zu verbinden und die Wallet zu verifizieren (KYC!).

When I set up a new PC, one of the first steps I take is to install the Brave Browser.
Why Brave? First, because I used to be an ad blocker developer myself and I like the concept behind it, and second, because it's a really good browser.
However, Brave has a pretty stupid limitation, as I just found out. The BAT Rewards Wallet can not be verified, linked to your Uphold Wallet on more than 4 devices.
And those 4 devices can't be managed either, it's a "lifetime cap". That means even if you uninstall Brave again, no more than 4 installations can be connected to your Uphold wallet ever.

This limitation is totally insane and has nothing to do with the crypto philosophy. This would be like Hive Keychain letting you install it on only 4 devices.
Four devices are also quickly used up, considering that you can now also connect Brave to Uphold on your mobile.
However, that never worked for me either. Maybe because I have already exceeded the limit unnoticed.
By the way, I have deactivated the Brave Ads in the meantime, so it can't be because of the rewards.
What do you say to this artificial restriction?
ps. in the past Brave has often reset my rewards to 0 after an update. Therefore it makes sense to connect the browser with your Uphold Wallet and to verify the wallet (KYC!).

Makes me question how secure Brave is. They were involved in controversy before because they were adding their referral code in online shopping stuff, now this limit.
And also the fact that my BAT Rewards were simply reset to 0 several times after an update (before linking my browser to Uphold).
That probably means it is not encrypted, not secure and definitely not decentralized. That is probably just a number on a third party server and I very dislike this idea

Ich habe nur zwei Geräte. Ein Smartphone und einen Laptopcomputer.
Diese Unzulänglichkeiten in den Konfigurationen bzw. in den Implementierungen sind ärgerlich und kosten oft viel Zeit, denn man sucht meist erst einmal bei sich selbst den Fehler. Respekt, dass du so viel Zeit in all diese Finessen investierst.
Mit dem Post-reward bekommst du ja wenigstens eine kleine verdiente Anerkennung, auch für das Teilen, damit andere nicht unnötig suchen und Zeit sparen.
Danke für das Feedback, denke, dass man das Limit schneller erreichen kann als man denkt, da man vorhandene/alte Geräte nicht mehr entfernen kann, auch Installationen auf Virtual Machines zählen zum Limit.
Ja das ist ziemlich ärgerlich. Die Begrenzung auf 4 Geräte stört mich nicht so. Mich stört, dass man selbst wenn ein Gerät herausgenommen wird, kein weiteres registrieren kann. Mein Smartphone hat schon über 80 bat auf der Wallet, nur kann ich damit nichts anfangen, weil ich es nicht bei Uphold registrieren kann.
Auch die Tatsache, dass Uphold immer noch der einzige Exchanges ist, untergräbt den Gedanken von finanzieller Unabhängigkeit und Selbstbestimmung.
Hi, ich habs noch nicht selbst ausprobiert aber du könntest deine bat an eine Webseite spenden deren Besitzer du kennst und der gibt sie dir dann weiter.

Das ist ja eine gute Idee. Ich bräuchte nur eine "Fakewebseite" oder YouTube Kanal und würde darauf eine mir vertraute Person registrieren. Dann kann ich quasi regelmäßig BAT spenden und würde so an die bat meines Smartphones kommen.

Guter Tipp, hab ich mit meiner mobilen Wallet gemacht, da ich sie auch nicht verbinden konnte.
Genau, dazu kommt, wenn man ein neues Gerät anschafft (neues Tablet), kann man die alte Installation nicht entfernen und es zählt weiterhin zum "Lifetime"-Limit. Diese Beschränkung ist schon ziemlich absurd und hat mit der freien Krypto-Philosophie (Erlaubnisfreiheit) nichts mehr zu tun :/

Nachdem man sich nicht mehr die Recovery Keys ausgeben lassen kann, ohne eine KYC durchführen zu müssen, hat sich der Brave für mich schon wieder selbst abgeschossen.
Jedes Wallet - das kein Scam ist - muss Recovery Keys und Private Keys haben.
Ich muss trotz des so tollen Brave-Adblockers immer noch ublock installieren, da sonst unendlich viel nervige Werbung einfach nicht geblockt wird.
Das erklärt so einiges, also wieso bei mir quch 0 auf mal in einem browser ist, da war ich auf mal auch ausgeloggt.
Das ist natürlich riesen mist. Tja dann vielleicht doch netbox nutzen, auch wenn die vergütung zumindest mobil sehr mau ist.

Not really, there is still this 4 devices lifetime limit, which is stupid, but there is a workaround, to tip the balance to a Brave verified website, possibly to yourself or somebody you know and ask to forward the tip.
Yeah thats the same work around that I found. That should have been warned from the get go but other than that how are you liking the platform
I like the privacy-focused browser, but there are also a lot of things lacking, like the 4 devices limit, no other crypto wallet than Ethereum, even no Bitcoin/Lightning wallet included, rewards balances disappearing, annoying KYC, difficult to withdraw the rewards, annoying pop-up ads, ...
Yeah those are some major set backs with the platform. I like it ads dont bother me much but they definitely do need to improve faster. I just wish they would do a lil more marketing and how to videos cause they dont pay me enough to do walk throughs for this 😂. I find it pretty useful for my business but when I have to produce how to videos on it its like Brave its time to pay up.
