@threespeak should have the added perk of reducing their infrastructure cost by moving encoding to the device of the user. It may worsen the UX on budget devices. Overall I think it is a good move to make the project more sustainable.

I have thought about this too, but after all, this is probably more decentralized than having a couple of encoding nodes bombarded with requests.
