You Might Be Having Trouble On HIVE If You Downloaded Keychain From GitHub

in LeoFinance3 years ago

I should have posted about this sooner. I hope nobody gave up using Keychain during the days following Hard fork 24. Keychain makes it very convenient and secure to interact with @peakd @leofinance @splinterlands @risingstargame and many other front ends. I started using it soon after Hard Fork for HIVE and it was not available on Chrome Web Store.

Downloading & Installing From The Source

I think I had Keychain version 1.8.2.2 and everything was working just fine. I didn't take any look at it after installing the extension manually. I had trouble after HF 24 like many others. I switched to HiveSigner for some interactions. I wasn't even able to see my account balances properly on Keychain. I did things like changing RPC Nodes and nothing helped.

After figuring out that most others are doing fine with Keychain I checked my extensions just in case. Then I compared things with Chrome Web Store.

Things Had Changed

I had to remove Keychain and then install it back again from Chrome Web Store which has automatic updates. Now everything works back again perfectly smooth. If you have troubles with Keychain, ow you now an extra place to look and troubleshoot.

Extra Tip To Keep Funds Extra Secure

Go to https://hivesigner.com/auths and check DAPPs you have given various authorities to. Most of the time these are probably just posting authority. But you could be loosing control over your curation efforts. Be safe while using crypto!
