On 12 July 1776 Captain Cook and his crew set sail in HMS Resolution on his third voyage, they were in search of the Northwest Passage. It was almost four years to the day since Cook had gone in search of the Great Southern Continent.

Unbeknown to Cook it would be his last adventure, he was killed following a dispute in Hawaii on 14 February 1779.

Captain Cook is well known in history books around my neck of the woods. Quite a few geographical locations are named by Cook after his associates, peers and some crew members. One was a Lieutenant Bligh, the same officer in charge of the infamous HMS Bounty of Mutiny fame. Has a local Island name after him.
