Be it through gold, silver or platinum, investment in bullion has long been a chosen means of protecting one’s wealth, especially in recent years. There are a number of ways to invest in precious metals, including bullion coins, bullion bars and a more versatile digital option. Individuals can invest in gold, silver and platinum.

There are a variety of UK gold bullion coins to choose from, including The Sovereign, Britannia and The Queen’s Beasts range. The UK also offers a variety of silver bullion coins, including various editions of the Britannia, two-ounce and ten-ounce editions of the coins in The Queen's Beasts range, the Lunar coins of The Shēngxiào Collection, and coins from both the Landmarks of Britain and Two Dragons series. A number of these coins can also be purchased in fine platinum editions, such as The Queen’s Beasts and Britannia collections which feature coins available in one ounce of fine platinum.

Britannia is the female representation of Britain and has been the modern face of bullion since 1987. Recognised and trusted around the world, the bullion Britannia coin is sought after by investors and institutions alike. The history of this icon begins with her appearance on the coins of Hadrian, around AD 119, as the symbol of a new province and people.

Britannia was revived for the coinage of Charles II in 1672 and has appeared on the coins of every monarch since. When the Britannia coins were added to the "new" Royal Mint bullion portfolio in 1987, Philip Nathan created a classical interpretation of the icon. He presented Britannia with a strong maritime influence, standing above the waves with a trident, shield and olive branch in hand. Instantly recognisable in an international market as the modern face of British bullion and a symbol of national spirit. The iconic design has evolved over time and now includes security features such as a speckled radial sunburst background.
