He presented Britannia with a strong maritime influence, standing above the waves with a trident, shield and olive branch in hand. Instantly recognisable in an international market as the modern face of British bullion and a symbol of national spirit. The iconic design has evolved over time and now includes security features such as a speckled radial sunburst background.
