You can set your watch by the royal mint..... Halloween out the way, and BOOM!!, Christmas on the table.
Now i have a soft spot for the "snowman", and growing up during the 80s, it was on tv every Christmas. You know, between the 3 channels we had back then, you were guaranteed not to miss it.
Its a bit of a no brainer to have the snowman be the annual Christmas coin minted by the mint, and theyve had me hooked for the past few years.
Unfortunately, news this year came with the passing of the creator of the snowman, Raymond Briggs, so rumour has it that this is the last coin in the series.
As always ill be buying the sterling silver(925/92.5%), coloured proof version, and this year it will set me back £69.50 plus p&p. Some will say for what it is, its a fair price, but for just 8g of not even pure silver, its incredibly over priced in my opinion.
But like the fool for shiny that i am, ive already placed my order, and with just 5000 available, it may be the one that offers the best ROI further down the line.
So whats your thoughts and opinion on this coin?? Beautiful or over priced?? Sound investment to complete a stunning series or the Royal mint playing on nostalgia strings to flog over priced tat??
