Engagement is starting to really pick up on the site leofinance.io for anyone who wants to blog about finance. Comments are the beating heart of a site and shows how many people actually read a post and chose to engage with it. Views are important but you really know people are reading your work when they leave a meaningful comment. It is something that bots cannot replicate yet and helps authors know how they are doing on a site. Bloggers of high quality that post content will want to do so on a site where their work is seen and leofinance.io is slowly becoming that site for finance and crypto.
My Last Post Comment Section
I can talk until I'm blew in the face but without examples it's just an opinion. If you don't mind me using my last post as example:
Lets look at the comments section.
We are sitting on 16 unique comments in less than 24 hours.Sure that isn't a lot but it is for a fledgling site that is growing every day and plus, I'm not that popular :p. It is only a matter of time before we start to see 100 plus comment posts on this site and that doesn't include the views you are getting from users who don't wish to comment or do not have an account. This is organic growth with real users who care about the site and wish to engage with the community
Why Bloggers Should Care
People blog for different reasons. For some it is a job and others a way to connect with an audience. You do you and whatever reason you are into blogging you really should consider using this site as it can bring you more views for your work and you will earn more than you would on a lot of other sites. Being on a site that cares about your interests can make it easier to build a community and make a living off of something you are interested in instead of working hour after hour in a job you do not like.
The Community Is Super Cool Here
The biggest benefit is how nice people are in the Leo community. Read the comments of my last post, not one person was rude and everyone was positive. This will not always be the case as trolls will pop up from under their bridges sooner or later but for now the core community is one of the most pleasant I have engaged with on any site. I have been involved with some bad ones in some sites and know how draining it can be to post on a site with toxic people who just complain for the sake of complaining. You will not find that here and it really is refreshing.
There is also one big reason more people will be nice on a site like leofinance.io than others. People can be rewarded for their comments with likes so it is in your favour not to be an ass to people. It is a fast way to end up broke and with no friends. I don't recommend being fake or anything but trolls don't have a spot here.
Engagement really measures the success of a site and it is a factor that is going up fast on Leo. Now is the time to get on and start posting to build up your community. You will also earn Ethereum for your work which is basically cash. How many blogging sites pay you for your work, unfortunately, not too many of them and this really makes Leo stand out.

Engagement is key, that's for sure!
I've talked about it in the past and I've been talking about it recently as well. I also think that manual curation, which has become a thing due to the recent reward change, will boost engagement as well with time. Comments are literally the best way for people to build an audience and get some traction. It's easier to write a meaningful comment than a fully-blown article. There are many, many benefits that comes with such a simple thing as comments.

What is cool people are now upvoting comments. As I stated on another post, anyone can leave comments and get rewarded for them. Not everyone is able or interested in blogging.
This is a major shift, one that I will write about later today.

Yes well it is one thing I always believed in. I do not see why all of us cannot take the time to at least add a few well thought out comments a day, especially if we are reading different articles.
This is our responsibility if we want things to take off.

Good thinking, commenting is a whole path that some users might want to follow to have success on this site. Not everyone wants to make content and this will open the site more to more users.

I think I'm relatively engaging to actually learn more. I've met some of the most exciting people here creating beautiful contents, while I engage with the ones that are relatable to me. So one can't go amiss with engagement, if you set out to achieve one thing with engagement, you'll achieve many others.

The LEO community is expanding day by day and while we gather content at some point probably we need to refine it. I find 1 post in 4-5 that are specific to the LEO Finance so probably that even if at the moment this helps us grow once we get to a steady number we need to filter some of the content. Nevertheless we are on the right path and I believe that the writers from here can improve their posts and also focus them more to this specific community.

I always had the theory that competition will help to refine and improve content as the site becomes popular. But you are right that we need to make an effort to reward the quality so it gets encouraged. As long as we don't downvote people and make everyone feel welcome we can get both volume and quality over time. As you say we are on the right path and when Leo makes it big than we will see a lot of high quality authors who are willing to put the time in for top notch content.

I also saw that the comments in some publications begin to be activated and that enriches the articles even more, you realize that I read and their development is increasing, something that would be lacking to encourage developers in hive, I love everything in Leo :))

The flat curation reward curve has something to do with the lively comment sections. Because you can vote on good comments without losing out on any rewards even if yours were to be the only vote on them, people will comment and vote on comments much more often than when HIVE rewards are concerned.

There are a dozen sites out there that pay you for your content but as of this moment, Leo feels like the best one. First, the amount you earn here is much better than elsewhere. Second, the community, as you mentioned, is brilliant! There are all types of people here - the ones you learn from, the ones helping you, and the ones that need your help. A beautiful ecosystem on its way to the top!

What I like most about Leofinance is that in general the comments are rewarded by the members. On Hive this is a bit more rare. Am I wrong in thinking that flattening the curve has been good for the comments section as well. (I am not fishing for upvotes with this observation/ question)

Exactly its all about engagement and quality.
I'm not a good blogger but learned a lot from here. Every post points in a meaningful direction. And comments are mostly relevant. This is far better than most of social media sites where we don't see any quality and posts are copy pasted.

Truer words were never said. There have been a myriad of posts, and not just on the LEO Finance site, that have addressed the importance of engagement. @abh12345 regularly publishes a breakdown of top engagers on the HIVE Blockchain Network.
Votes are nice. After I make a post, GinaBot will ding me for about an half-hour with all the auto-votes. My excitement comes when I see some comments! I believe I am with the majority.
