Why We Need To Promote Other Coins On Leo

Leo is great. It is easily becoming one of my favorite dapps and the one that I spend the more time working on. But in order for it to thrive we will need to build up the community and get as many views on the site as we possibly can. This means that we need people from all communities to join us and post about their interests in crypto. People on Leo care about Leo but people outside do not (not yet at least). Most of our views and new users do not come here from searching leo finance but from searching about other coins. When they do this search one of our talented community members who wrote a quality article will pop up and this will lead to not only a view but a new user who might want to try out the site.

I'm not blaming anyone who posts about Leo, I do it as much as any one else (I'm doing it now in this article). We are still in the early phases and building up our base community. But in order to really grow we need to appeal to as many people as we can we need to write informative and quality posts about other coins of interest.

The World Of Crypto Is Vast

There are a lot of people getting into crypto and everyone is doing so for their own reasons. Maybe they want to know about defi or are want more info on the latest hack. It could be a new coin they want more info on or maybe they are a beginner who doesn't know what a key is. This is all information that people should get from leofinance.io. We need to be the source for crypto and even big sites like coin telegraph should be sharing their work here.

The More The Better

I don't agree with all this in-fighting that happens in cryptocurrency. We are all in the same boat as you see in the market when it does well we all do well. Apps have seen over a billion users and we in the dapp world seem to fight over the same few thousand. This is ridiculous. Lets get 100s of millions of users into the dapp space then we can fight over which one is better. Why fight for scraps when the pie is literally right there.

All Coins Welcome (But Please No Competitors)

There are lots of valued projects out there that we can write posts for that can bring in something new to the space. The only thing I ask, and this is just me, is you don't shill a project that is a direct competitor to Leo. If another blogging site about Finance comes out it is not cool to try to promote it here. Any other project is good but you shouldn't use this site to promote the competition.

This is the site where people should get their crypto news regardless of what coins they are following and we really need to appeal to as many users as possible to get our numbers up. I'm not saying stop posting about Leo yet, though we will need to get to the point where we pot less and less about it, but do add posts about other projects you think people will like.

The More The Better

I know we're just starting out and it will come with time, but those with big stake need to stop rewarding content that is designed to be read within our own echo-chamber, and start rewarding content that is designed to be shared with the greater finance community outside of Hive.

Like you've said here, content that actually talks about finance. Whether that be other crypto projects, analysis, news etc. All that matters is that it either contains long term SEO value for the leofinance.io domain, or it can be shilled on social media, reddit and the like.

All Coins Welcome (But Please No Competitors)

While I agree that it's gross seeing people shilling competitors, or just any of those pure ad posts full of affiliate links, we have to be careful saying no competitors.

It has a very Tron/Steem feel to it, doesn't it?

Instead, freedom of speech should be encouraged, but the community needs to have some sort of 'accepted rules' where that sort of content won't get upvoted by the big players (because it's bad for their investment), and therefore just swept aside.

I fully agree we need to avoid an echo-chamber and tailor our content in a way for all readers. Even if it is about Leo you can still try to word it in a way to appeal to people who are not knowledgeable about Leo.

Yeah I'm not saying you can't talk about other projects or mute anyone, just saying I don't like people using one platform as a means of siphoning users off to another site. I added that that is just my rules that I try not to shill sites that would be direct competitors, and I'm not going to attack people from posting about other sites if they choose to.

I think you are onto something good here and indeed LEO embedding or facilitating additional cryptocurrencies on top can be an amazing idea. I like for example DCity where they've added multiple token for different purposes, either owned or external - BEER, BATTLE, ENTRY etc. LEO ecosystem could gather other second layer tokens as well maybe generate some more specialized tokens with dedicated scope. I cannot still get my thought to the end, but I feel there might be something great here if someone can put it altogether.

I think we should partner with other coins to help promote them on Leo, its win win

The more coins we talk about the more communities may want to show up here and use LEO instead of reddit or Biticon talk to share info about their coins. Would love to see more tokens using LEO as their blog either for syndication or as their official blog

That's my thoughts exactly. This should be the hub for coin bloggers.

Over time Leo will become an epicenter for all things crypto. Hopefully we will also see people who also post a great deal relating to stocks and other traditional assets. Right now, we are just dealing with small numbers which makes it tough to cover it all.

That said, I disagree that we discuss mostly LEO. I would say that Bitcoin is well represented in posts. In addition, many like to post about Splinterlands and other Hive related applications.

For now, getting the word out about Leo is vital. I do agree that competition and maximalism within crypto is stupid. All tokens could have valid information posted about them as long as it is not simply spam.

Hopefully the number of users grow quickly and we get some more knowledge about different projects and their associated tokens.

You're right, Leo as a dapp or project can become a platform or an epicenter where other Crypto lovers can come and talk about their favourite Crypto. Inasmuch as we love Leo we need vast audiences of different people and that even sells Leo as a platform itself.
This is a very brilliant idea.
